I'm American. This amount of good will and sportsmanship is alien to me. Good job everyone.
Then you are stupid or lying. I'm also an American and see good sportsmanship all the time. You are just speaking nonsense
@@remshot1998 he's talking about the amount of sportsmanship with his experience. Surprise surprise not everyone experience the same things 🤯
@@remshot1998 think you just proved his point 🤣
@@GrimyGoblin Maybe, but then he should really not be saying "as an American" because that gives the implication of a US-wide thing.

1:38 HFS the speed of that kick was NASTY
Agreed, she's legit.
I had to keep rewatching because that was clean af!
It's a safe way to spar. No head kicks or punches are allowed, and once the oppenet is down it is forbidden to attack him. Love this silat!
Well, I didn't know about that. That's the first time I ever heard about a martial arts that actually respects the opponent's body and health.
I love that they're actually smiling and kind of giggling even though they were being hit they're like "Woah, that's a really awesome move!"
Or when they exchange blows back-to-back the look on their faces is "You really want to do this game?"
They make it looked like they're just having a friendly spar which is funny considering that the martial art itself is pretty deadly.
Who's here from Misasa fight😂

1:37 excellent side kick -Bruce Lee would approve
2:06 -- concern shown for his opponent's safety as he fell. wow.
Yeah I know what you're referring to without even clicking. I watched that again - awesomeness.
Usually arm will broken during the take down.
it can be considered as a rare takedown maneuver to hit the shin to knowdown the opponent coz the one doing it might also get hurt -- basically your kicking the hardest part of the leg.
Usually fighter swipe the back of the opponent supporting leg.
Usually if you fell facing forward, there were higher possibility can get serious injury compare to if you fell backward. If backward, chances are your butt will hurt. But if fell forward, victim whole body could sandwich his own hand between your leg and could cause injury such as broken arm/wrist/finger/elbow
I love how they are supportive with opponent and seem to really just enjoy the sport
I gotta admit the girl with the blue belt thingy is pretty badass. The way she kicks the guy. Damn, No Mercy!
im pretty sure their opponent was also a woman, but yeah i agree with you that kick looked so powerful and badass.

What a beautiful display of talent and technique. I did not know that Silat had sparring. Impressive to see such great sweeps and kicks. Much respect from Southern California.
1:46 wow their smiles :)
Dang 1:38 that sidekick takedown is nasty... Never had chances to do that while I was active as a fighter. But did managed to get the same takedown but using a different back kick.
There had to be a perfect timing.
As you can see the she kicks while the opponent have a low back posture and raising one of his feet.

@@atdhekryeziu616 lol, you have never seen a martial arts performance, there you just know what silat is like, watch this video ua-cam.com/video/Wspg8P871no/v-deo.html. Fighting in a tournament was different from fighting on the street🤣🤣🤣 In silat tournaments limited by rules, different from fighting on the street, you can fight freely without any rules and you can even break your opponent's bones, injure your opponent and even kill your opponent. Even silat is taught how to fight with people who use weapons and how to fight using weapons

The way they move is beautiful
It's like roosters🐓 fighting.

The best fighting style there is🇮🇩🇲🇾🇧🇳
@Chris A there is so many style in silat , where you can grapple, dismantle shoulders , hitting with elbows , takedowns etc ...the problem is what you see in this video it's an amateur league, you can see ONE championship MMA you will find many Malaysian guys with silat background and they are doing well
@Chris A you are clearly Ignorant about Silat
@Chris A fact?? Fact what?
@Chris A smh :3. Did you say muay thai guy would fuck them up easy?. Did you ever see raw silat or original silat? Or all you see is silat in sports?
@Chris A I saw some Muay Thai practionner condemmed silat and how proud he is about his Muay Thai.
This, I give you some good example/historical prove how effective silat is in real life death-life fight @ warfare:
1. Sriwijaya, Majapahit, Malacca, Patani, Perak WON many wars againts Siamese for thousands of years. The latest one was in 1822 Siam vs Perak where by Perak WON the war. The huge Siamese troops+muay thai fighter with the elephant were burned to the ground by Perak/ Selangor alliance near the border Kedah/ Perak territory. Read Perak Scholar and British manuscripts.
2. 1836 Kedah/Patani independent resistance drawed Siamese up to Songkhla, retook Perlus, Satun, Patani and Trang. However, Siamese won the war because of British support-British attacked Kedah from the sea, blocked the food/weapon supplies and supply weapons + canons etc to Siam troops. Otherwise Kedah pendekar should have knocked your King Rama pendekar should have knocked your King Rama castle in Bangkok. Read British Navy Captain Sherrard Osborn 1836 diary about Kedah army-dicipline+skillfull in close combat.
3. Majapahit@Javanese repelled Monggolian navy in 13 century. Their nose were cut and send back to Monggol. Monggol send many expedition to destroy Majapahit, all ended failed. Do you think Ayuthia@Siamese dared to fight Monggol? Even Rom empire think twice to fight the Monggol. Fact! 3. Spanish vs Sulu , 300 years war. Spanish never conquered the south part- Mindanao @Sulu.
4. US army vs Sulu Juramantados in 1900. US army never dared to fight toe to toe with Sulu resistance who practiced silat. Read Moro resistance Panglima Hassan uprising+moro resistance how endurance and skillful they were in close combat. Shotted with 32 bullets but almost able to finish his last opponent. Above are the proves of the effectiveness of silat in life-death fight @ warfare. I am not saying silat is the best but I rather say real silat is designed for real fight where no rules applied and it is strictly not appropriate for sport mode like muay thai or box. Have you ever see someone claw their oppenent eyes, throat, testicle, joints in muay thai? In real silat, you will see this kind of thing.
My humble opinion or conclusion:
1. There is no better or bad martial art. All of them are good.
2. The victory is for the one who practice hard + intelligence.
Team Belgium!! We love you!!
This is amazing , in every shape and form ... I just wished I could practice martial arts ...

these guys always smile after kick xD

Those sidekicks are amazing. But I have a question why sidekicks are used a lot in Silat and Jeet koon do but rarely used in Muay Thai and mma?
S Jeff Good question. Possibly due to the stances associated with each sport. In Muay Thai they are very front on and doing a side kick would require a shift in stance and weight which would could be easily read by the opponent. However they use front kicks a lot which are still linear kicks (like side kicks). The silat stance is more side on not exposing much torso and making it easier to throw a side kick. That’s my understanding but I’m sure someone else may have some additional ideas or opinions. Good question.
It’s a huge opening for grabs if they allow it
it is used in mma but not as often..fighters who are more proficient while standing on their feet do not want to risk getting takedown so they utilise low kicks more often..not side kicks
@Limau Purut Sorry to hear about your leg. There needs to be a good understanding with your training partners when it comes to sparring. Thats why sparring those that are training other styles can be risky as levels of understanding are different. Yep you are right these lower kicks tend to be more suited for street scenarios where you need to take out and immobilise an opponent. In a sport silat match low kicks are often used as a distraction to create openings. They can also be used as a takedown but these take on the form of a sweep rather then a kick.
Cung Le.. Uses side kicks
Better than I thought it would be tbh
So body kicks, trips and sweeps.
The goodwill towards their opponent has everything to do with the culture in which they are raised as well. In America, by-and-large, we don’t give a damn about one another.
Me identifico mais com esse estilo do que tkd o qual treino, tenho mania de segurar a perna do adversário quando luto. Parabéns aos guerreiros.
These are just a simplified style which are used for sports we called it silat olahraga, its kinda sanda for kungfu but with much more rules and regulations used to avoid injuries and point but smaller legal hit box...btw what style are you practicing?
Anda tinggal mempelajari tenaga dalamnya untuk mengobati diri sendiri saat terluka akibat pukulan
Holy hell some of those attacks are vicious!
Fighters are really fast!
That kick at 1:38. That was... fast!
I did the sport 3 years but i gonna do it again massa fight Greets from Holland
Great video
Silat in competition is just like 20 percents of what we have learned and practiced. In real street fighting, we can perform 70-80 percents. The balance percents are just in theories and art of kill.
@Ronin00 silat do many sillibuses Including defense technique, deceiving and art to kill. In competition there have rules. That's why wearing protection stuff during competition is compulsory. Kicking in silat means kick the vital area.
It's a very momentum heavy and kinetic martial art isn't it?
In a sense yes. Every move should count and aim to exert the most force upon contact before pulling back into the original stance and continue to reserve energy in case of a need to repeat. Every move could be premeditated and pre-empted, given the different styles of silat. So if two opponent were taught in similar style of silat.....the main difference would consist of the difference in force used or how effective your defensive blocking and immediate followup counter attack stance. While other martial arts would lean more towards a defensive teaching, Silat in the olden days were more offensive attack based. So because of the use of dangerous body shots.....like the liver.....alot of emphasis was on self restraint. Hence the pullback. Hope I explain it somewhat. That was what my late grandpa explained it to me anyway.
one love from singapura.
Just joined the pencak silat team in my school, kinda devistated to see that pencak mostly consist of kicks, i suck at kicks
Excellent style for street fighting...you can tell your opponent you scored more points and mutually agree on the winner in an amicable way...you know, how most street fights go.
you are american your culture is too young to have any kind of martial art like us SEA. you don't talk
@@legobatman2440 and yet we seem to dominate MMA and send you our washed up fighters so your “elite” can get a notable name on their record 33% of the time. We may lack history, but somehow, we always overtake our masters. Quantify that.
You mean just like MMA has points? Or boxing? Or any other art for that matter? How about you go over and receive a couple of those kicks to the chest without any padding and come back to ramble? Ever crossed your mind that not every art is meant to fight on the streets? Or that arts eventually change? Or any of that?
I am waiting for your video in the fight at the silat academy so that I can be sure you are right 🙂
Me watching this after finding out Iko Uwais uses pencak silat in the raid movies!!!
Superb fantastic
Much better than TKD imo
Can anyone clue me in on how the points work? I see a lot of throws but I also see a lot of kicks.
Is the side valid target area?
Hey. Sure thing bro. So the target area to obtain points is the chest pad, which as you say goes around the ribs which is also a valid target area.
One punch equals to one point. Multiple punches in sequence also amounts to one point. This prevents the bout turning into a punching fest.
A successful kick in the target area is two points and a takedown which can come in the form of catching and sweeping, scissors or floor sweeps are worth three points.
There are three rounds per match with each round lasting 2mins . Any more questions let me know!
punch = 1 point; kick = 2 points; takedow = 3 points ; 6 consecutive attack max

Kicks to the body + sweeps
Embora seja uma arte muito boa ,me parece que os golpes estao limitados ,mas ve-los sorrindo depois dos golpes é muito eletrizante
Damn looks tough, though I'd still use a kickboxing guard to block them kicks
You don’t have giant padded gloves to block with though. It’s a harder to block when you’re bare handed, that’s why parrying and longer guards are more common in such combat sports including mma.
@@mythrin Uhmm in 80+% of the cases you block with the forearm not the gloves but the guard makes it easier to position for blocks and attacks
@MrFreak9.1.1 Still if you use a more squared stance it would be easier to block similar to MMA
@MrFreak9.1.1 And forearms as in middle kick and body kicks you angke yourself with your forearm and bicepc to absorb the impact
So many martial arts in the world but in the end everyone just kick, punch, and grap to the floor. In my opinion know how to kick and punch, training your reflexes and forget abou that martial fancy arts.
You have a point. At the end of the day, we only just have two legs and two arms! There are subtle differences - but generally - especially when it comes to point fighting - they are similar moves and strategies.
And grapple. Kicks n punches r innefective if a good grappler gets ahold of you
I think aerobic will suit you.
Cool!. But what's the song tho?

Yeah. But in pencak silat we must not attack the head. because according to Indonesian culture the head is something noble and shows honor
So cool
All those fancy Silat forms but when they spar it looks like regular sloppy exchanges.
You got points-
this sport Silat not self defence! Oh boy why are sceptics so effing idiot can't tell the difference between self defence and sport! 🤔
The fast martial art
I started Indonesia Kung Fu at 12. Being a tall kid my feet were my best weapon. But never let them catch your leg. Your very vulnerable. So when kicking it must be extremely fast strike. But more important. The snap back. Don't leave your leg in the air. It must return as fast if not faster than it was sent to target. That was 50 years ago. And I still train my kicks in that concept. POEKALAN TJIMDEI.
I like this fight

Let me know what u feel if they apply the technique in the tournament.
know it's late but silat uses a variety of weapons on a larger scale than you might expect from, formerly silat were also used to fight colonial soldiers. And I feel cringe when you compare boxing with silat, silat techniques are more efficient because they focus on weak points where the aim is to paralyze the enemy or kill them quickly and efficiently. Not only that, silat also has punch, blocking, and takedown techniques..
