Ford key free not detected AN ACTUAL REPAIR/FIX!!!

- After searching the net for a fix, I thought I'd share my experience as there was no actual fix but just an emergency start-up. So here it is. If your Ford has the same problems as this one then it'll pretty much certainly be the same fault.
I've been made aware that different models will have the external receiver in different locations.

I have the same problem. Ford focus 2017 but there is no code error. Where to look for a fault?
I'm getting the same issue, "Key not detected" only occasionally though.

Thankyou for your comment. The External receiver was purchased directly for the Ford main dealer and would cost around £100 for a brand new one.

Can you do one on a Ford Focus ST MK2 Facelift
Hi very useful video. I’m having the same problem I’ve had my car in to the Ford garage where they diagnosed the same problem but mine has got a corroded connection that plugs in to the receiver. They have given me the receiver to show me and are saying it needs a new part wiring harness and new receiver that may have to come from Germany with total cost of £515 fitted 😢
Just buy the receiver and try that. No reason to quote for a wiring harness at this stage?

I have ford Kuga 2012. Code is b2091:60 remote key communication failure. Is it possible to check if same receiver is actually broken before buying a new one?

K have a si.ilar fault but it doesn't start with the key in the emergency position and the radi doesnt light up like yours. My recieved if fairly key too. Any ideas??
Sounds more like a faulty key?

Hi great video thought it would help us , But our ford grand c max 2016 will have to go to the garage as we couldnt see the antenna, but will tell them thats what we think it is

Well I sure hoped this would resolve the same issue on my 2013 Escape. New receiver did not fix mine. Mine worked fine until I replaced the car battery. Since then can only start in the emergency fob location. All fuses are good. Both fobs have new batteries. Get the ford keyfree no key detected fault. Tried resetting battery by the jumper method. After starting screen shows 1 mykey and 1 admin key. Start once and get no key fault. Turn off and back on and alarm goes away. I don't know if need locksmith to reprogram fobs. Odd that it shows 1 mykey and 1 admin key. Really scratching my head on this one. This is the only problem I have had with almost 70k miles.
Might not be a good idea wrapping it up in plastic as moisture can't escape. Better to use a suitable barrier like silicone or a barrier grease on the plug to stop moisture getting into the plug maybe? Sometimes it may be necessary to to reset the bcm after fitting the receiver. I've found on occasions that the key operates the lot ks but it still says kkey not recognised etc until I reset the bcm(no equipment needed) just look the process up on the tube'.
It doesn't need to be programmed?
Many thanks for this. I had the same issue when both key fobs stopped working suddenly. Replacing the receiver fixed the issue.

I have a ford flex with the same problem. For some time i suspected it was the receiver antenna. How did you locate it. I cant find any info online where it should be located. There is a fiesta video that shows its under the center console.
I would recommend reading the codes first to ensure you're replacing the correct part.
I spoke to a local friendly Ford Main Dealer mechanic who advised me of the location

Ive tried this on my 13 plate cmax and no luck do you need to remove the codes because i don't have a reader to hand
Best to read the codes before replacing parts but if you have a new receiver then it should be plug & play as per the ending if my video. Good luck 👍

Hello mate. Great video and work but I can’t seem to find the antenna where you found it. I have the 2016 ford grand cmax which I think is the same model as in the video. I opened up the rear headlining and all I could see was some wiring and components stuck to the roof(none of them looked like the antenna). What should I do?
Did you manage to get it sorted!? The antenna in my video was originally stuck to the roof
@@atcarsales Hi mate, turns out it was exactly there but just a bit deeper. Had to take it down to the garage where they put their hands a bit deeper than I went and boom, they found. Still charged me 10 quid for a 30 second job but anyways thank for the video and reply :)
