Hey Kev, I’ve been doing tanks for a while but stopped for a while to focus on my career. Been in workers compensation for the last 7 months, in that time I have gotten back into the hobby and I must say you Aquabuildr app is amazing, my wife is even getting hooked into the hobby. Keep up the good work mate and thank you for getting me back into the hobby 👍👍
Glad I could enspire you bro! and happy to hear you're taking your wife along for the rife! Appreciate your support through the membership as well, thank you bro!
Not a fan of the bamboo sticks.
Fantastic! And I love how it serves dual purpose because you can hide any hoses or wires, it’s a 1, 2, 3 masterpiece! Add some greenery for extra points 🎉
Great point! Thanks for the feedback!
Wow, I had no idea those 3d backgrounds were so expensive. I just did the estimate process at the linked website. Yikes...More expensive than the entire price of my aquarium.
Quality custom work ain’t cheap bro. 🤷🏼♂️
Hey KaveMan I’ve been watching your videos recently but I have some questions.I’m going to go buy and mantis shrimp but I’m not sure what I really need so he doesn’t you know die on me. I’m just a little concerned on the water or the bacteria also I don’t know if I should do a water change or not because it is kinda cloudy because of the sand.
I've never kept shrimp but if you're just starting in the hobby start here - It'll be very helpful for you 😁 - ua-cam.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8NYvhUHAmwAd54WFmS4d8er.html

Awesome video again, I would have filled bamboo with gravel not water that can go stagnant and smell. Not filtered in any way.
I'll be uploading a video tomorrow explaining that water does not stay stagnant in the bamboo...dont miss it 😊💪
Hi, hope someone here can clear my doughts.
1. I read that fixing solid backgrounds can cause an anoxic condition develop in-between the back glass the decor back panel. Is this dangerous for fish health in the long term?
2. For the hollow backgrounds, still water (uncirculated water) as well as uneaten fish food, detritus can collect in between the space of the decor and back glass panel. How do you prevent this condition?
Thanks in advance
🙂
1. Completely impossible to create anoxic environment back there. All the oxygenated water is constantly being pulled back there because thats where my filter intakes are.
2. See number 1 😁

Thanks for the reply. I understand your setup. But I was asking for general setup. Eg. My 210gal Altum tank I can't have power heads due to the slow flow requirement for that fish. My filtration system is a overflow box with a 3 ft sump. So in this type of scenario, isn't there chance for anoxic condition to develop in-between the decor board and the glass panel? Would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Btw, your video on fish medication was awesome. It helped save my $1500 worth of Altums in my tank. Thanks again 👍🏻😊.
Im sorry, not liking those green poles in the tank.
I hear you…I’m not sold on it yet either. Letting it grow on me.
Slightly off topic ques: air stone bubblers... please, please can you suggest a brand that actually bubbles?
I have bought sooo many wankers.
(btw haters... yes, I followed directions and soaked them)
I know you get what you pay for and Aquadecor is top notch..... But, for me to ship to Canada, on average are about 1,300 ea Canadian. Not including accessories. I'm willing to pay for high quality. But that's out of most people's price points without major discounts. Its to bad for the average consumer they didnt offer something more reasonable. Beautiful product, though.
Not sure how I feel about either product, I know those little suctions cup things don't last and the bamboo would look nice with the Discuss but not the other fish.
So the bamboo was originally supposed to go in with the Discus but last minute I found something else I really liked 😁 So far the suction cups are working like champs! We'll see though.
@@KaveManAquatics Can't wait to see it
I always get the Dr Dre and Snoop beat in my head when Im listening to your videos that beat is almost exact
🤣🤣🤣
I sincerely wish to thank you for all the information and instruction on starting a new tank. I thought by adding stability and prime on first day my fish were safe. Then they all started to die in the next week. I came across you video explaining that I need to continue treating for a week or two not just on day 1. Now my new fish are alive and doing well, even the new fry. Ty so very much!!!! Fyi nowhere on either bottle did it instruct to continue after day !.
S W E E T!!!!
😁
Kev....I really like the Bamboo! I think it looks really good especially with the plants on top of the tank! Do you have to put adhesive on them if they stay in place without it?( We'll talk on next livestream). One more thing Kev! Hope your watch is waterproof! 😁 Thanks Kev! I enjoyed this! ❤😊
oh it is! lol So far they stay in place just fine. But I have to see how the first water change goes. I'm sure they'll all topple over. I guess I have to see if its enough of a headache to need to glue them instead. Glad you like it Lori! 😁
@@KaveManAquatics ❤️❤️❤️☺️
Not sure how you knew that it’s time for a change. But, thanks for making it so easy for me. You showed me exactly how to put them in the tank and where to buy the logs❣️
Glad I could help! 😁💪
Dude I like your videos but, just (7) 15" bamboo sticks from these people (Aquadecor) is $280 US dollars ! That's ridiculous. That box you opened must have been $1,000 +++
Nothing in this hobby is cheap bro. Wait till you want to buy some high quality lights. 🤣
I was just wondering if you rinsed the bamboo sticks and the other 3D sticks off before you put them in your tank? And do any of these decorations cause any kind of issues to your tank over time? For example, do they break down over time?
They wont break down and no, I didnt rinse them because there wasnt even a spec of dust on them. With the 3d backgrounds, yes, I always rinse those off.
It’s my opinion but looks like too much bamboo sticks are hiding beauty of other 3d background. But as you said give some time because I am used to watching with your other background.
I'm kindof in that same boat. Like you said, I'm giving it some time because I'm also very used to how it looked before. We'll see..Thanks for the feedback!
The bamboo logs look great, personally I don’t know if they go well with the background though, I can see them with a whole carpeted tank better. However, my main concern would be the water inside being stagnant and starting to smell, maybe aerate them or simply fill them with sand. Your plants on top are looking amazing, maybe you can get some big driftwood on top and tie all the pothos to them.
Thats the part I'm not sold on yet. How well they mesh with the background. I feel like it may be too much going on. As far as the water in the bamboo. it has holes at the bottom where water will drain and fill from when doing water changes so that isnt an issue. Appreciate the feedback! 💪
You can always cut the pothos in the back and make more plants! 😊that's what I do!😁
I've considered that, but they're so long and beautiful I dont want to cut them 🤣🤣
Plants all over the house. In the tanks and in pots. 👍🏽
If you put in 8 bamboo sticks it would be a Fibonacci series (a pleasing repetition of elements used in art and architecture).
lol, thats funny because I removed some the other day...now theres only 7 and I like it much better 😁
What local fish stores on Long Island would you recommend going to
The Aquarium Shop in Westbury and Tropical Showcase in Hicksville 😁
Kev, Have your pothos drape over the front of the tank to help with the look. Bamboo maybe too green
Can't have them over the front cause they'll reach the floor and the pupp will get them 🙈
I can’t get my tank crystal clear even after a good water change not sure what I’m doing wrong
There's many reasons why you could be having issues. The most common are over feeding and over-lighting. But, my book on getting crystal-clear water can definitely help! 😁 It's short, to the point, and covers all the causes and solutions for cloudy water. Comes in eBook and Paperback. I promise you won't be disappointed! Check it out here - bit.ly/clearH2O
Seems like this root decor can be used to hide heaters and filter tubes on the back panel of the aquarium
Absolutely! 😁
Can you recommend a good auto feeder? I need something reliable for when I'm gone for a few weeks.
I don't use any autofeeders. A few weeks is a long time. Hope you find yourself a good one. Also, make sure to have backup oxygen in place!
Im liking the green bamboo. 👋🐠. Spices up the tank
Thanks bro! 😁
I love the idea of putting matrix in the logs …
I mentioned doing that somewhere…forget where though lol
😎🫡🤝👍🏾👍🏾
What happens to the water inside the bamboo?
It has holes at the bottom. So it will drain and fill inside the bamboo during water changes 😁
Hey Kev, I think I made a mistake.. I just did a 40% water change and added Aragonite to my tank as a substrate on top of the existing gravel but I forgot to rinse the aragonite and my water is cloudy as ever.. Is this going to hurt my fish?
No it's not, just your eyes for a few days lol Nothing to worry about. Your filter will eventually get the sand dust out along with your scheduled water changes.
@@KaveManAquatics Thank you 🙏 I can actually see inside of the tank today. I have noticed a lot of the sand dust has settled on my decor. Just rinse it off with tank water during my next tank cleaning?
It makes it harder to clean the tank, i.e., vacuuming sand and cleaning algae off surfaces. That would be a pass for me. Looks good, though.
I disagree. Dont have algae issues to clean and hardly need to vacuum this tank at all.
@KaveManAquatics makes sense on your tanks because I've never seen your tanks with algae. I was referring to my tank.
Love Aquadecor, hate their prices 😢
Quality custom work aint cheap...
I never see this stuff before, nice!
Thanks! Checkout aquadecorbackgrounds.com They have a ton of cool stuff!
I have a 75 gallon tank with 6 mbunas I've had them for about 4 months and they aren't really eating. I've tried garlic guard and 5 different foods. Could it be the tank is understocked?
Not eating is a symptom of internal parasites. Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/bSpBUlN-8jI/v-deo.html
Thanks man i appreciate it i moved them i took them out of a 36 gallon tank and put them in a 75 gallon tank about a week ago and they stopped eating i guess they were still adjusting because they just started eating yesterday but i got all the medications you had in that video just in case@KaveManAquatics
@@KaveManAquaticsbig fan BTW I watch your videos all the time you helped me with alot getting into the hobby with my mbuna tanj I appreciate you alot and thanks for replying 💯
Ngl that looks ugly af imo
Thanks
❤ your videos from🇦🇺
Thank you! 😁
lol I said pause too 😂😂
🤣🤣
Not sure about this Kev.
I’m on that same boat…giving it time to grow on me…if possible.
I like it, but Maybe take the big ones out and just leave 4 or 5?
Thanks for the feedback...I was actually thinking of taking the skinny ones out to make it more uniform 🤔
Oh yeah that works too!
Is a wave maker good for a beta I have a 20 gallon with 1 beta and a sucker fish
Negative. Go with an airstone for good water movement.
@@KaveManAquatics thanks kaveman
@@KaveManAquatics I'm trying to get my water crystal clear like your's do you recommend accu clear? Thanks again
I like that look
Thank you!! 😊
I think it looks dope!!
Thank you bro! 😊
Why is there only 1 discus in the tank? Is it sick?
It’s a stunted Discus I removed from the Discus tank. Arowana will eat a small Discus. If he puts on some size he’ll go back in 😁
@@KaveManAquatics Aha i see. I hope it gets back bigger 💪💪
Like rearranging your living room. Just freshens things up. Aquadecor is constantly evolving. Nice products.
Its exactly like that! 🤣💪
G’day Kev, I love how the green really compliments your 3D background with you white substrate, the bamboo is going to really make your Tank something special and different. Well done mate 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the feedback bro. I'm giving it some time to let it grow on me! 😊💪
Because it's bamboo, do you not have to soak them first? Usually when introducing driftwood into the tank, you get a lot of water discoloration.
Also, do you remove all that when vacuuming or just work around it?
It’s not real bamboo. Aquadecor makes very realistic fake decor.
It looks like you have Groot in your 29 gal !!😅😂😅
I'm gonna put that in my 39 gal tall tank !!
GROOT!! 🤣🤣🤣
Good stuff as usual Kev. That's pretty cool. A suggestion for your plants. I have pothos in my goldfish tank that was starting to hang down and I wanted it to go up the wall. I used stick on clips 3M makes for hanging Christmas lights. Cheap and served the purpose
Thanks for the tip!! 😁💪
Bro you get to the point so clearly all the time I love watching your educational videos on fish keeping. Thanks my guy
Thank you! Glad you're finding the channel helpful! 😁💪
BTW, you should check out my new Aquarium Keeping APP designed for beginners! - aquabuildr.com
The bamboo sticks look great, nice 3d effect. Maybe the green is a little too glaring against the gray of the background. Like you said, give it a few days. Look at it from different angles and see what you're ultimately gonna go with, That's one of the best things about this hobby.
Totally agree with you!
That looks completely bad ass totally changed The look , that bright green is awesome. Looks super cool.
Thank you bro, glad you like it! 😁
Hey Kev. I filled my standing logs with aquasoil and have moss growing from the tops now.
Great idea!
I love how that main piece in the 29 has a little face on it! Two eyes and a mouth, like it's surprised. ❤
🤣🤣 Didn’t even notice that
Dude I was not expecting the pause... I'm dead, have you been watching it is what it is with cam and mase ? Love it 😂
lol...I've seen some of their stuff...but thats been around way before them 😁
When doing a water change what do you do with the stagnant water in the tubes
Not sure what tubes you're referring to. If you mean the bamboo logs the water isnt stagnant. Theres holes at the bottom where water will also drain from.
Now i am thinking of adding one in my goldfish tank
Do it! 😁💪
Dope as hell kev keep it up
Thanks bro! Will do!
Really lovely 3D look
Thank you!! 😊
Love your videos
Thank you! 😁
I'm liking it!
Thanks Tiff!!
Drape the pathos back inside of the fish tank. I've go pathos growing submerged in mine.
In your case you'll have part of the plant emersed and submersed
HI KEV.....YOU PUT THE MAIN PIECE IN THE TANK UPSIDE DOWN
It can go in any way you like
