@@TheOmahaIntrovert "Butterfly" sounds better on the original vinyl to my ears - but the CD (as far as I can tell both the original and the reissue use the same master) is a bit more "hi fi" sounding.
Greetings Hanna. Some great finds! I also waited forever to aquire Loaded, but worth the wait. Love Real Estate and Atlas is also my favorite. Looking forward to sampling Straightjacket Fits and Green Pajamas. I can only dream of a collection similar to that wall of vinyl behind you!
Hi Todd! Would be pretty groovy to find an original of Loaded, but I can't afford it, hehe! Great to read that Atlas from Real Estate is also your favorite! Right on! My collection certainly has grown since I started doing these videos back in 2018! Cheers!
U2 are a good example of how the producer (especially if he's also a sound engineer) defines the sound of an album. The first three U2 albums you like were shaped sonically by Steve Lillywhite. Compare Siouxsie & The Banshees "Hong Kong Garden" to U2's "I Will Follow" or XTC's "Making Plans For Nigel". You can hear that signature "Lillywhite sound" that defined New Wave. The units are a good tip. Along with The Screamers, they were the founders of synthpunk on the American West Coast. Unit leader Scott Ryser also has his own UA-cam channel with old and new song material.
I don't think Lillywhite sound defined new wave. Btw, tracks you've referred to sound completely different, as do the Simple Minds, I think they picked the wrong producer (SL) and failed to make it big like U2.
@@krasteff i referred to the sound of the late 70's and early 80s. He produced the Simple Minds in the mid80s. New Wave was already Old Wave at that time.
@@krasteff Completely agree. "Sparkle in the Rain" was the first bad SM LP. Funnily, they started trying to be too much like U2 and got worse for it. U2 started doing something similar to "New Gold Dream" and made a better album for it (Unforgettable Fire - which beats "War" in my book - and I LOVED "War" when it came out).
🙋♂️ Hanna ! - It's Just The Same Old Song 🎵 , On My Radio 📻 !! Love that & Three Minute Hero ( I Wanna Be ) from The Selecter. I saw U2 on the War tour with The Alarm opening. The guys in The Alarm were hanging out in the crowd after playing. Good people. Love both Waterboys albums with World Party the song finally making its recorded debut on Fisherman's Blues. Cool House Of Love 💿 Box ! Love the 🦋 album. Getting ready for winter ! 🥶 .. See Ya Hanna ✌️
Hi David! Choice favorite tunes from The Selecter, yeah! Wow, I swear you have been to some of the best tours in the 80s! Lucky! Yeah, the Butterfly album by House of Love is excellent! I bet if more people listened to House of Love, they would fall in love with 'em! Winter is coming! Cheers, David!
Very pleased to see Straightjacket Fits, a proper Indie obscurity. It was a total blind buy for me a few years back as I'd never heard of the band or album - it just looked good, was on Rough Trade (UK press) and was just £4. Why not? Will be looking into The Units asap.
Greetings, George! Straightjacket Fits were definitely obscure! I also have an EP of theirs on CD. Ah, solid blind buy for you indeed! I'm sure you will dig the Units! Happy sampling! Thanks for the comment!
Early U2 is so good and unappreciated. Joshua Tree is a perfect album imo, and the last essential U2 album. Funny how we draw the line in opposite sides of that one.
The last essential U2 album was Achtung Baby...it sounds stranges at the first listen but give it time...after ten listens it makes sense and it will grow on you
“Lactating Purple” was also my first Helios Creed LP… great stuff! That’s a cool Lyres album too, though I’ve never owned a physical copy. Yes!! Please do a Top 200 ranking of the 80’s! 😃. Of course building the corresponding charts on BEA would also be fun to see.
Some good acquisitions . I especially like Loaded , and the Real Estate albums . I will definitely explore the Lyres album . The Sports are on heavy rotation lately , and I'm enjoying their music . Thank you for that recommendation , and all of the others ! Cheers !!
Nice found that Selecter album with great original label.. I foud one with Chrysalis. I was sad that Neol Davies left the band, as i think he was quite a good to write hits. Went to see Selecter with Pauline before corona and she was great. I think she have her 69 birthday last year.
Great finds, First 3 u2 albums are classic, just bought the house of love box. Its awesome. Got lots of green pyjamas. Such an underrated band . I dont know real estate, will check out. Happy listening Hanna.
Hi Paul! Glad you scored a copy of the House of Love CD box set, too. I can't wait to dive into it starting this Friday! Yeah, Green Pajamas were so underrated. They should have gotten more props! Hope you like Real Estate! Be well!
Love AMC….California and Everclear are two of my favourite albums of all time. Mark Eitzel’s live album Songs of Love album was my gateway in the early 90s. They just capture a time and place for me. Marks last solo lp Hey Mr Ferryman was a very good album too. Feel very lucky to have seen both AMC and Mark Eitzel live.
I love the Lyres!!! Yes, they are from Boston and Ace of Hearts Records was a great local record label with many great local bands, including The Neighborhoods and Mission of Burma. Thanks for the video!
Hi Timothy! Ohhh nice, I didn't know Mission of Burma were also on the Ace of Hearts label! I will most likely talk about Mission of Burma in my next video! Cheers!
It had a sticker on it for $16 but the owner had it in the $2 bin. When I asked if it was placed in wrong section he said you can have it for $2. He’s more of a heavy metal/punk guy.
Great finds as always! Helios is my buddy! A GREAT find! Lyres are amazing. (and actually Lefty's was taken over by a couple I know recently!) Listing some stuff of interest today, tomorrow and Friday. Killer CD box.
Wait, Lefty’s still exists?! Well hell! I gotta check it out then! I just remember seeing a Facebook post that they closed. Thank you! Okay, I’ll be checking out your Discogs frequently the next few days! Thanks, Kurt!
Nice additions to your collection! As always, I enjoy your videos. Your brief summaries of each album are very helpful. That Real Estate collection is indeed a cool find. Also, I'm jealous of the VU Loaded album you scored! I'll be on the lookout for many of the others you highlighted.
Thank you for the kind words! It's fun doing the vinyl finds videos! Hope you are able to find a reissue of VU's Loaded. So necessary for the collection! Glad you enjoyed the albums I highlighted in this one! Enjoy the rest of your week!
You stole my heart with The Lyres. Yes, from Boston, and on the same local label as the seminal and amazing Mission Of Burma. I haven't heard of some of these bands so I am looking forward to checking them out, starting with Real Estate. Take care.
Mission of Burma! I finally found one of their CDs recently. Loving them. Oh, hope you dig Real Estate and some of these other groups I featured. If you like Real Estate, also check out Martin Courtney's solo stuff. Someone just clued me in and I'm loving it!
Hi Hanna, beautiful box set of The House Of Love, congratulations. I tell you that I have a Green Pajamas album "Ghots of Love", it's fine music. Cheers my friend 🎧🍻
Yeah, love that track 'How Do You Know?' by Lyres. Also, have you heard Gilla Band (formerly Girl Band) from Ireland? They're as deliciously unsettling as Just Mustard!
Hi JC! Right on! I now have most of their material, including She Paints Words in Red, but I don't have Days Run Away or their latest album from this year, A State of Grace. Cheers!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert It is a great album (A State of Grace) but I feel they have lost their trademark sound somewhat, now that Terry Bickers & Pete Evans are gone.
@@rosevilleca38.75 new one is REALLY new. Think it's only been out about 6 weeks. It's not as dreamy as the other ones - but still worth a listen. It's Guy's "Old Man" album - and because it's Guy - the words are excellent.
I got a great tip on the Fisherman's Box that I've been wanting since it came out in 2013. Under $30 bucks and free shipping from the UK on Amazon. Finally got wise and ordered it. Fisherman's Blues connected with me in a way none of their other albums did. Can't wait to immerse myself in those historic sessions. That deal is still running, btw, if you don't have it.
AMC was a great band I found in the 90s with San Francisco still one of my favorite albums. Punk with synths sounds interesting, intrigued with how they can get the angst and energy with that.
Hi Matt! Units were quite innovative. Hope you check them out. They keep my interest, that's for sure! I'd love to get San Francisco on vinyl by AMC as well. I think there is a recent reissue. Cheers!
I was psyched when you showed that Straitjacket Fits album which inspired be to dig out & play (I have an OG u.s. press). I saw them live twice back in the day when they visited Boston. I remember their lovely "Lay down in Splendour" video being played occasionally on MTV or VH1 (yes, a really long time ago). I will keep an eye out for that Units comp as it is exactly the kind of weirdo pop that I crave. I highly recommend (if you don't already have it) the Kleenex/LiLiPUT "First Songs" compilation put out by Kill Rockstars/Water Wings. Kleenex are my favorite Swiss all-girl punk band!
Hi hanna great finds especially waterboys im looking for them of them really hard to find here in Coventry. My favourite u2 album is acthung baby love the early u2 too . A different U2 they changed so much. Going to check out just mustard sounds interesting and playing with fontanies dc my favourite album of year is skinty fia amazing played it so much . Yeah those hand claps thought you were going to break into hey micky your so fine hey micky lol take care joe
Hi Joe! Yes, high five that Skinty Fia is your favorite of the year. I think it might be mine, too. And I should have indicated that I love Achtung Baby by U2 as well. They redeemed themselves for a moment with that one. Haha, sorry again about those weird hand claps! See you next time!
Hannah! I was in Omaha last night and saw The Joy Formidable live. They were amazing. Before that, I picked up the new April March album and listened to it a couple times. Boy oh boy, not only is it her masterpiece it's a masterpiece in general.
Hey Andrew! Yeah, that Joy Formidable concert I had a reminder about. However, I'm not too great at actually "attending" concerts. Glad it was a killer show! Just sampled some of the April March album. Talented lady. Some complex arrangements.
Hello 👱♀Hanna; Like the Elvis Costello T -shirt. Good way to start with VU's Loaded, & U2's War, both good LP's. Nice pick up on the House of Love Box Set. Some very good finds. A top LP review would work, ten to twenty at a time, & the total number being your choice. The collecting continues! Take care, 👩Tina & 👨Pat!~
Great to hear from you again, Tina and Pat! Yay! You gave me some good pointers with the top 100 or 200 list! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the finds shown here! Enjoy the rest of the week!
Great stuff, Hanna. In a parallel but somewhat askew universe, this episode might be titled "My College Radio Days: '81-'85, and Other Selections from the Closet of Cool". Of course, I couldn't deliver with your degree of video verve. I like Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, but nothing compares to the first three U2 records. The heavy traditional sound makes Fisherman's Blues a timeless record, I think. The Lyres were also a fierce live band. Fierce! I saw them many times. Monoman is a garage rock genius. Check out the book Vinyl Junkies, if you haven't already. House of Love is a top ten band for me. I'm putting the new box on my Christmas list, so I'm thrilled with your unboxing and interested in the sound quality since I already have a lot of the studio stuff. Ciao!
Hi Peter! Hehe, Love the Selections from the Closet of Cool title! I actually don't mind Achtung Baby by U2, either. That one I quite like, actually! So awesome that you got to see The Lyres live! Must have been full of fire! I'll look up the Vinyl Junkies book, thanks for the heads up! Oh, didn't know House of Love were a top 10 band for you! Nice! What's your favorite album? Hope you do get this box set for Christmas! I look forward to listening to a lot of it this weekend! Cheers!
I would include Zooropa, too. Brett Milano wrote Vinyl Junkies. If I was forced to choose one House of Love album as my fave it would be the eponymous "butterfly" record, but I love the first three. For comps I'd choose Creation years and/or Best Of, which is a great single disc collection. Most of their collections and comps that have been released over the years are solid, IYAM. Yes, the Lyres were often...on FYRE! Rock on!
With you on U2. I kinda lost interest after War. Love the Selecter. My band opened for them in the 90's and Pauline Black was amazing and super nice. Saw the Waterboys in Dublin on the Fisherman's Blues tour, still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Your posts reminds me of my high school days, scouring the used record stores on Saturday afternoons, buying albums based on the covers, going home not knowing what to expect. 👍
Thank you, Zach! I appreciate you listening through to that point. Most people didn't get that far! Extra points for you. And punk collection update video coming up next! Cheers!
Hi Hanna, good afternoon,i liked your finds,i have the first brazilian pressing of U2's War,in the year of 1985,what my friend gave me,it was almost 11 years later,in 2012,and,congratulations by your video, have a nice weekend, cheers!!!!!!!
Hi Chris! Great to hear from you. The only other Green Pajamas I had was Book of Hours, which is excellent. Glad to hear you're familiar with them, too! This Helios Creed LP is a scorcher! Thanks so much. Hope all is well!
Hanna, I came to know some of the Grren Pajamas album through the Australian Camera Obsucura label, though I haven't heard Book of Hours either. Camera Obscura put out three of their albums in the late 1990' and early 2000s.
Loaded was definitely a gateway into a whole world of music for me - luckily that happened when I was a very young teen due to that album being suggested to me in a book I was reading.
Hey Kris! That's awesome that Loaded was a gateway album for you. Love hearing which albums opened up further doors of music for different folks. Stay warm and hope all is well with you and M!
Some great pick ups Hannah. Early U2 albums are wonderful to go back to, such a refreshing sound for their time. Same deal with early Waterboys.Fisherman’s Blues is a fabulous transition album from their ‘big music’ sound to more Celtic influenced projects. I have everything they released and those albums are up there. Straight jacket fits are a wonderful band, I love anything from that ‘Dunedin Sound’ era. Flying Nun was such an influential indie label through the 80s. The Chills were amazing! Buy anything you see with their name on it. I adore The House of Love, they made the transition from 80’s to 90’s more palatable for me.Their first two albums are wonderful. Interested in the box set so I’ll watch this space. I would suggest you do a top 100, give yourself a challenge. A rating list is more meaningful if you have had to make tough choices - no pain no gain right? Thanks for sharing.
Good evening, Brett! Glad you enjoyed my pickups here! Yeah, that Dunedin sound is so sweet to the ears, isn't it? Chills, the Clean, Verlaines, Straightjacket Fits, etc! I like how you said the House of Love made the transition from the 80s to the 90s more bearable! Yeah, I can see how they fit that bill! I like the challenge of compiling my favorite albums of the 80s. Thanks for commenting on that aspect of the video. I feel many people didn't make it that far! Thumbs up!
Sweet finds- Just Mustard, Helios Creed, and Real Estate - excellent - I first heard the House of Love with the song "The Beatles and the Stones" still one of my fave songs. I'd love to see your top 100 of the 80's.
Thanks, Rando! Yeah, that Beatles and the Stones HOL song is brilliant! Thanks for the vote on seeing a top 100 albums of the 80s from me. I have a couple votes for each. This will be tough, hehe! Cheers!
cool stuff per usual hanna. always dig all your insight into the music. i gotta get some Selector in my collection. i've been on lookout but just haven't found any yet. at least "in the wild" and for the right price. have to look into real estate. not familiar with them (and i'm from nj too.)
Greetings, Steve! I'm sure with all the luck you have with finds, you will come across The Selecter! Hope you dig Real Estate's sound. They are worth looking into! Don't forget to go to that Ft Lauderdale record show!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert i looked up the date of the record show and of course that's the weekend I travel home for a 2-week thanksgiving break. so i won't be in florida for it. maybe for the best though, i think I've already bought more than I planned on during this gig. but you know how it goes....
Hey hey if you like Waterboys Fishermans Blues theres a box called Fisherman's Box which is the complete recordings from that album's recording process/sessions. 6 CDs. Excellent however it's kind of a bit much to get through due to the sheer volume of music. My favorite Waterboys is A Pagan Place which came right before This is the Sea. Saw them open for U2 on Unforgettable Fire tour. Some people were booing them which was crazy.
Great, fun video! Several suggestions for me. How many bands have done songs titled "Spy in the House of Love"? The Doors, Was (Not Was), the DBs, Ellen Foley, etc., etc.
I own all 80s early 90s U2 lps. Do I listen to them? In al honesty no.. should I sell them ? No because 1 day I'll get an itch to revisit them 😂 Ive said it b4 Your collection has come a long way ! 👌🤙
Killer grabs, M’lady! I need to check out The Waterboys, was totally unaware of them. One can’t really go wrong with anything put out on Flying Nun. Even if an initial impression of a release isn’t favorable at first, I’ve found revisiting it later corrects that ill conceived stupidity. I love Just Mustard! I’m in agreement with you concerning their first release. I’ve been hungry for some shoegaze /dream pop lately, mainly due to Rando Channel’s mention of Bowery Electric and Blushing. I’m currently into Lucid Express’s “Floret” and Resplando’s "Tristeza”, right now. Autumn sounds for sure. I think 200 would be a bit much, but if broken down by genre it might not seem so overwhelming. Either way, I’m down for whatever you decide to do.
Hiya! Yeah, Flying Nun...one of the most solid labels. More reissues are needed! Rando has a great channel! I was thinking of doing another shoegaze video. It's been a while since I've done one of those. I haven't heard of Lucid Express. Thanks for the heads up! Thanks! I'm leaning towards the 200 but it needs a lot of tweaking still. Be well!
Nice find on the Straitjacket Fits - Hail, great to see one of our best NZ band’s on your channel and She Speeds is such a terrific track. You should check out Melt next by the same band, it’s even better than Hail….imo 😮😊
First..Awesome shirt! Once again, I'm going to have to listen to some bands you showed there. Last weekend we went to the twice a year record fair. Only came out with 2 albums, The Only Ones, Special View and a not opened Skids, Scared to Dance..The two I was looking for no one had, and one guy said if I had it, it would be home in my collection.. The Undertones first and The Stranglers, No More Heros... There's a band coming here Saturday and me and friends are looking to seeing them...STARCRAWLER. Your thoughts on them? Another great video. Keep up the good work.
Hi Ed! Wow, you scored with a sealed copy of Skids Scared to Dance! I bought the reissue from this year. And it's quite hard to find Only Ones on vinyl! High five! I haven't heard of Starcrawler at all. Cheers!
Finished your video last night -- very surprised to see Helios Creed -- I hadn't thought about or listened to him in 30 years! Our college radio station had all the albums, and I always favored and owned the Chrome stuff, but you've prompted me to circle back to some of those solo albums (he has a lot through the late 90s, which I doubt I'll get to). Green Pajamas were a fun discovery a few years ago -- my favorites are Book of Hours (1987) and Ghosts of Love (1990). Last year's Sunlight Might Weigh Even More (2021) is quite good too, and they have yet another new one, Forever For A Little While that I'm still absorbing. I've always liked House of Love on principle and have their albums, but they never got heavy rotation, so I'm going for the Mighty Lemon Drops box instead. For some reason I'm chuffed for the new Rupert Hine box -- I loved the brittle prog pop sound he produced for Saga and The Fixx, not for everyone I know. His three solo albums from 1980-83 are cool. It's bundled with my Cherry Red pre-order of Mighty Lemon Drops box and the Modern Eon that doesn't come out 'til December, so I'll be waiting a while for it.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked that I showed that Helios Creed LP! So cool your college station had all those albums. One of my dream jobs would have been to work at a college radio station back in the 80s! Yes, Green Pajamas are such an underrated group! I have Book of Hours on vinyl! Would love to get Ghosts of Love next! Love that they are still releasing music! I love Mighty Lemon Drops, too but I have a bunch of their stuff on CD and vinyl already. Yeah, I'm planning on getting the Modern Eon Cherry Red reissue later this year, too! Cheers!
Hey hanna definitely like early u2 as well And velvet underground it’s always a toss up banana or subway I think I always go back to loaded good to see lyres! As I just turned 54 I’m really getting more into punk garage power pop etc 💪 Thanks for the great video Whoa!! Listen to the music ,all the time
Love how VU's albums are so different from each other! Glad you recognized that Lyres LP and love them as well! Very cool you are getting more into these excellent subgenres as you complete more trips around the sun! Yeah! Keep spinning the tunes always! See you next time!
Totally get this GT23. I started getting really into surf music when I hit 50 3 years ago. Really don't understand folks our age who get stuck in a rut and seem unable to discover new sounds. Most of the stuff I've been discovering of late has been by people about the same age as my kids.
No half measures! Top 200 of the 80's all the way! Just wondering if you had picked up the new album by 2nd Grade entitled Easy Listening? It is pretty perfect power pop in the classic style. Disturbingly good.
Thanks for the up vote for a top 200 80s list! Thumbs up! Oh wow, I just started sampling 2nd Grade on BandCamp after I read your comment. I'm sold. Thanks for the suggestion. Yep, reminds me of some classic power pop and a group called Fig Dish in the 90s and SUPERCRUSH as well. Excellent!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert Hey, I was wondering if you saw that some label in Sweden is re-releasing The Trend LP The Trend Is In? Mine just showed up today and it is mighty pretty. Can't wait to spin it!
It's cool you got U2's "War" album... I too got it recently in the past year... I've been trying to buy their actual albums on vinyl instead of me having their greatest hits on CD. I wonder if your aversion to The Joshua Tree is because it's too popular, but that can't be it... or the songs are overplayed, of which they are... but I mean if you followed their progression, they were always working up to the sound of that album, especially when you come from The Unforgettable Fire. But yeah, post-punk U2 is great in its own way. On "War" the song that really got me into that album was "New Year's Day" and "Two Hearts Beat as One"... the latter of which I haven't had played a billion times so I actually prefer that song lately if I listen to early U2.
Hi I like your t- shirt with Elvis Costello on it. I remember buying his album This Years Model back in 1978 on vinyl. I liked the Ska British Two Tone sound. And Selecter were one of my favorite groups. The Specials, Bad Manners were a couple of others. I love the Waterboys, such a good band. They had a folksy sound. There biggest hit was The Whole of the Moon. Thanks

@@marktait2371 Thanks for your reply. I'm in my sixties and live in New Zealand. I liked the 1970s British Punk sound. We had a small scene here back then. A group I liked were called the Instigators and on UA-cam there is a video of them singing a hit song of theirs called Hope she's Alright from 1982. Check it out if you like. From Carl.
Hey Jason! Yep, if you watch plenty of my videos, you'll see that I LOVE Echo and show them a lot more than U2, so Echo definitely get my vote. So glad you're enjoying the channel so far!
Hey Hanna, great vid (love Real Estate and most of what you picked up). I got the House of Love set as well... I have the original CDs and will try and compare, so far it sounds good to my ears, but I hear you when it comes to mastering. I won't give up my og cd's, i got it mainly for all the rarities.
Hi John! Yeah, all the rarities included with this House of Love box make it VERY appealing and worthwhile! I love the price I got it for! So glad to have you stop by, as always! I appreciate it!
Sorry I haven't left a comment for a while, but I've still been watching your videos since I love the records you show and your amazing collection. Good to see you got a nice copy of "War", what an excellent album and the first one I ever owned from them, which I bought before they were very well known. I loved that album and was looking forward to the next one, but when Unforgettable Fire came out, I was quite disappointed. I did end up loving The Joshua Tree, but, like you, my interest kind of faded after that. Early U2 is the best. I'll have to check out Real Estate. As far as my search for The Waterboys, I still haven't had any luck with finding any vinyl, but I did pick up a CD from them a few days ago that I haven't seen before called "Dream Harder". I haven't been able to listen to it yet, but excited to hear it. I do love that Fisherman's Blues album though, would love to find that one. That House of Love boxset looks really cool. Thank you for showing us your latest finds, as always, some top notch records and music that matches your great taste! 👏👏👏
Hey there! Hope your week is going well! Glad you also think early U2 is where it's out. Brilliant sound! I don't believe I've heard that Waterboys album you picked up on CD. I haven't explored any of their stuff past Fisherman's Blues, though. I do hope you find that one on vinyl soon! Sounds so amazing! Someone just told me there is an extensive Fisherman's Blues box set out there, too called Fisherman's Box! Cheers, my friend!
Almost every original U2 fan has a jumping off point with their lps. I hung in til Pop. While I appreciate the need change and grow, they reinvented themseves too many times. I did see them in concert a decade or so ago and it was awesome though. Loaded was my first ever V.U. album.
I believe so. At least you cannot accuse U2 of staying stuck in the past. I admit I had the same struggles keeping my head into R.E.M. after Out of Time or so. I recall running into an ex-GF of mine that the both of us were massive early R.E.M. fans in the 80s, only for her to exclaim to me, after I mentioned them, "what the hell happened to them?Their new music is SUCH SHIT." That was so harsh. But I think a lot of early U2 fans gave up on them at some point in the 90s or 2000s. Same, apparently, with U2.
Hi Robert! I should probably post a comment at the top to clarify. I don't like Joshua Tree but I do like Achtung Baby and certain tunes off of Pop. And Loaded as your first VU album - very nice place to start! Enjoy your evening!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert for some reason I like Pop. I don’t usually like that style of music but for whatever reason, I like that album. I detested Zooropa though…
Every thing they did after Achtung Baby is just a waste of time...Achtung Baby is by far the best work they ever did.....and sadly that album was released 30 years ago
@@thiscorrosion900 R.E.M. is a great comparison. I sort of left them after "Everbody Hurts". I have been giving the later part of their catalog more of a listen lately.
Thanks, Neil! I most likely would have bought all the House of Love LPs when they came out, too but I was just in elementary school and didn't know what decent music was yet! Glad you're a major fan of theirs, too! Thanks for the comment!
Neil - so did I - at least up to Babe Rainbow, when I (regretfully and mistakenly) lost interest as I followed Bickers over to Levitation and thought Guy was a bit of a knob - but you need this box anyway. The "from the vaults" stuff is worth more than the price of admission - many of the alternative versions are closer to what the band wanted to put on the albums if the record company hadn't interfered. And they all sound awesome. Also - the "complete Peel sessions" 2 CD set is essential. Recorded some of those off the radio when they were first broadcast.
Fisherman’s Blues really is a masterpiece. Not sure if you’ve seen it but there is a great 6 disc cd box set of the complete sessions. A lot to take in but we’ll worth it.
Hi Dustin! I've added that "Fisherman's Box" to my wish list! Yeah, that looks incredible - overwhelming, but seems like a must have! Thanks for the heads up!
There's also a "Room to Roam" box, which follows a similar theme. "Room to Roam" is kind of the natural sequel to "Fisherman's Blues" and I kind of lost interest when it came out - but it's my wife's favourite of theirs. The best stuff from the "Room to Roam" sessions is not actually on the album that ended up getting released - so get the box. It's pretty cheap.
Hi, have you ever listened to Scottish punk band The Skids? (not sure if you've mentioned them in previous videos). Your liking of those early U2 albums makes me think you would really like them. The Edge acknowledged The Skids were a massive influence on them in their early days, in particular guitarist Stuart Adamson (who left The Skids to form Big Country whose first and best album The Crossing was produced by Steve Lillywhite). By the way I'm with you about U2, I completely lost interest in them in the mid to late 80's. (largely because Bono had disappeared up his own derriere). :-) Peace.
Hello Hanna! I love every Velvet Underground LP except for the "fake" one, "Squeeze" which in reality is a solo Doug Yule album and not good at all. ...I've never heard Of Real Estate but they sound interesting ...I have a couple great 45s by The Lyres - they've been around forever! I don't remember The House Of Love though...
Hi Bill! House of Love were more indie perhaps during the late 80s/early 90s. Very underrated group, though. They have some really catchy and well-crafted songs! You may like them! That's so great you have some 45s by The Lyres! They really knew how to rock!
Arrived here after my House of Love box set finally arrived here in Denmark (ordered it 2 1/2 months ago). I paid twice what you paid (i.e. normal MSRP). A few comments about it.... "Spy in the House of Love" was sort of a compilation of "butterfly album sessions" b-sides. The stuff on part 2 up to track 16 is from the same setup. The last four or so tracks on part 2 and SITHOL part 3 is mostly Babe Rainbow and then Audience of the Mind b-sides, with a "Black Sessions" acoustic set that was previously only on 2 subscriber-only CDs issued by French magazine "Les Inrockuptibles". Conclusions about it are that I don't think they've remastered the actual albums - but I haven't done a side-by-side comparison. I think they'd have mentioned if they were remastered. "Spy" is definitely an upgrade to the vinyl (which is too long on one side and the pressing suffers accordingly). The extra material on its own makes this worthwhile purchase IMHO. Especially when you read the liner notes and realise how much the record company interfered with the recording of the albums and how they might have been even better using the rawer earlier versions, which are truly revelatory. I always "kind of" liked the House of Love but thought they sold out a bit when Bickers left - and I went with his new band Levitation instead (who you should also check out) - at least until I had a revelation one morning in my Manchester apartment in about 1993 when I was awoken by my radio alarm with the newer version of "Shine on". Was back on board right away. Compared to the Cherry Red reissue of the Creation album, which is definitely a sonic downgrade to the Creation vinyl (I also have the silver vinyl box set of it which sounds even worse than the CDs), this is apples and oranges. This stuff all sounds really great. If you "liked" the House of Love before hearing this box - this box will change that evaluation to "love". BTW it's "Lesster" not "Liechester".
Also - welcome to the Waterboys. Little fact - Steve Wickham of the Waterboys played fiddle on "Sunday Bloody Sunday" on "War". Essential Waterboys are also "A Pagan Place" and "the Big Music", which are a little less folky and more "epic". No doubt an inspiration on what U2 would go on to try and achieve as they searched for ever more expansive sounds. I'm in 2 camps about U2. After an intense teenage romance with them that started when I was 13 in 1982, I broke up with them in 1989. Got back together in 1991 and after a long but increasingly unhappy marriage finally divorced them about 6 years ago. I kept the records. They kept the money. Even took my kids to see them twice when they were 6/7 and again when they were 10/11. Bono's audiobook is pretty good though. Also check out the fan club 10" live LP from the Marquee 1980, which is the best thing they have released since forever.
Wonderful assessment. I think all the CDs in this box sound great, too. I DEFINITELY don't regret buying it because where else can you get all of these extra goodies in one package? It's perfect! I'm an even bigger fan now.
Hey! I have that t-shirt! When are you doing an Elvis video? Some great finds. Such a true statement. Depending on the day any of the first four VU albums could be my favorite. Loaded is great stating point. As Lou said "it is loaded with hits". The Selector are great. I love their take on the James Bond theme. Always love seeing classic Flying Nun bands get some love. Straightjacket Fits didn't release a lot but they are worth hunting down. I think the re-issue you have includes tracks from the earlier Life In One Chord EP which is great. As a side note The Chills are currently on their first US tour in a long time. Maybe they are coming close to you. I am seeing them in Fort Worth next week. You always highlight stuff I have never heard of and Units sound like they need to be explored. You had me at 'synth-punk'. I am picturing some Suicide vibes. I will be looking into them. And you have to do 200 from the '80s. Too many great artists will miss out if you limit to 100. Thanks again for sharing. Always fun and educational to watch.
Hey there, Richard! You'd want me to do an Elvis Costello ranking vid? That might be too much of an undertaking. Hehe. I still need to find plenty of his to add to the collection, but I mainly have the ones I find the most essential! 😉 The Chills aren't playing Omaha, but I'd be thrilled to see them. They are another favorite. You'll have to let me know how the Fort Worth show is! I think you would definitely love Units. I instantly fell in love with their sound! Thanks for listening to my full video! Many don't and I'm Glad you have a vote for me to do my top 200 80s albums! Hope all is well! Catch ya later!
HH. Nothing wrong getting stuff on eBay, I try to get stuff from SC local, but you know how it is. Get imports is a good seller with usually the lowest price along with movie mars. I’ve problems with m mars but they took care of it quick. Great deal on the cd box too. I hope it’s good sound, it should be fine.❤🕊️
I love VU too, and they're on my wantlist. U2 "War" is so good and my fav U2 LP. Found it at Goodwill. I know what you mean about them - I love their earlier stuff too. Helios Creed "Lactating Purple" is a killer LP. I was able to get a repress on Am Rep. Some Helios Creed isn't so great, but others releases are amazing. Glad you got an original! Check out HC's "Kiss To The Brain" - it is mindblowing. That House of Love box set looks fantastic. I didn't know Cherry Red releases are hit or miss when it comes to sound quality. American Music Club is excellent and "California" is great! I have it on vinyl but it is cracked on the label. Also I have "San Francisco" promo LP. Mark Eitzel is a brilliant lyricist. Enjoyed the video! ~ Nicola
Thanks, Nicola! That's awesome that War is your favorite U2 record! Probably a tie between Boy and War for me. I will definitely check out Creed's A Kiss to the Brain. You never steer me wrong! Wow, you have some killer AMC pieces in your collection. I'd love to get San Fran on vinyl as well! The one I can't quite get into is Mercury but love most of the others from them! Catch ya later!
Waterboys are an acquired taste, but once past the bombast, many rewards. For me, “This is the Sea,” featuring Karl World Party, is the apex of their first period, then the folky stuff is made great by Anthony Thistlewaite’s fiddle playing. Snagged these all on vinyl in the late 80s/90s when they would crop up in the cut-out bins. HoL’s Butterfly is a cohesive statement. The Beatles and the Stones made it good to be alone, indeed. Finally, I once hung out with the Straightjacket Fits in my hometown of Baltimore. They were touring with the Bats and the Jean Paul Sartre Experience. A Kiwi mother lode. The latter’s “Love Songs” is a gem. A perfect record.
Hey Kelley! Thanks so much for dropping by! Really wish I had started collecting vinyl in the 90s! I hear stories of the cutout bins holding so many treasures! Yeah, HOL's Butterfly record is pretty flawless. What an amazing band. So cool you hung out with Straitjacket Fits! More reissues are needed! Ah, I would have loved to have seen the Bats too! Cheers!
I've been looking for an original pressing of Loaded for years. Only have come across two both VG. The last one was selling for $170☹️. I may have to breakdown and get the repress.
Yikes, $170 for a VG copy of Loaded. So insane! I'm pretty happy with this repress and it was very affordable! Not trying to persuade you or anything! 😉
Love your videos! Its always a treat when one pops up! Last time I discovered Teenage Fanclub! Might I suggest two Ive found from 2022? Ultra Violet Battle Hymns And True Cofessions by the Dream Syndicate and Fire Dosnt Grow On Trees by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Both great treats!! Cheers!!
Hi Chuck! Aww, thanks, so glad you're enjoying my videos! Ah, I love Dream Syndicate and BJM! I haven't checked out their latest albums, but thank you for reminding me about them! Hope all is well!
Martin Courtney has released a fantastic record this year, easily in my top five of 2022. It's his second solo album. Real Estate at his best. One of my fave US artist.
Hi Miguel! Wow, thanks for the heads up on Martin Courtney's solo material. I'm sampling Magic Sign now and yeah, it's brilliant! Gonna have to get it! I appreciate the suggestion. Hope all is well!
As A fifteen year old boy I had a huge crush on Kim Wilde. In an interview with A magazine she mentioned 'Loaded' as one of her favorites. So I bought it immediately with my allowance. I had to grown up a little more to really appreciate it. Now I dig it a lot. Also love early U2, The House Of Love and American Music Club. California is a great record, also dig their 'United Kingdom' album. Lyres I saw them live in a small venue here in Belgium. They did a great show. Their albums are pretty hard to find over here, but at least I got 'On Fyre' in my collection. Are you familiar with 'The Blue Aeroplanes'? They are a mix of jangle pop, indie, new wave with great guitar work and beautiful melodies. Think of The Smiths and REM. The singer who speaks rather than sings is a genuine poet. Their 1990 album 'Swagger' is a masterpiece. Just like Massive Attack they're from Bristol. P.S. I got over my Kim Wilde crush and I have only her debut Album. Enjoy your finds.
The Blue Aeroplanes are ace! I would say they hold down the Dylanesque end of pub poetry. Always wear a dark, beer-splattered blazer in which your store your notes.
Hey Danny! Yes, I'd also love to get United Kingdom by AMC. Ah, that's pretty awesome you saw Lyres! On Fyre is an amazing record! Right on! I love The Blue Aeroplanes. I have Spitting Out Miracles on vinyl and then 2 more from them on CD! Cheers!
Great story about Kim WIlde and Velvet Underground. I like her first album and she made quite a impact later on with his version of Kids in the America/ Rocn around the xmas three in that xmas "video".😀😀😆
Hi, Hanna! Great video as usual. Early U2 is so good and unappreciated. Achtung Baby (1991) is a perfect album in my opinion. Wow! This The House of Love box-set must be awesome and certainly only imported and expensive here in Brazil. By the way, the newly elected president Luis Inácio ''Lula'' da Silva who was president in the 2000s, promised the Brazilian people to restore culture to the country. We shall see! Please, make more videos about CD box-sets. Cool Elvis Costello t-shirt. Thanks for the video, take care and see you next time. Cheers!
Hey there, Alen! I appreciate the comment, as always, my friend! I also love Achtung Baby from U2! I'm so glad that da Silva got reelected. Should be more hope now for your country! I'm happy for you! I have a few CD box sets but not too many. If I get any more I will certainly show them! I will show some punk CDs for my next video! Take care!
My feelings on U2 align with yours. For me, I fall off with The Forgettable Fire. 😁 It's not uncommon for me to lose interest in bands when they reach mega stardom status. Oh well. Thanks for the video!
Hi, Hanna. Quite a few names that are new to me in this one. Intrigued by The Units. I'll give them a shot. Tempted by the House of Love box too. Are you familiar with Mansun? Three fine albums, they were arguably the natural indie successors to House of Love. (Discuss.) Hey, I'll be hanging around in the comment section for the next one. PS Persia the cat says, 'Gwaaah!'
Hi Nigel, and hi Persia! Maybe I should be embarrassed that I haven't explored Mansun at all. Please let me know which album I should start with and I will be ready to sample! Hope you dig the Units! What a sound! Cheers, my friend!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert Re: Mansun. 1st album Attack Of The Green Lantern contains the big anthemic tunes - 'Wide Open Space', 'Taxloss', 'Stripper Vicar'. Six, their indie prog album, is light on memorable songs ('Being A Girl' excepted) but weirdly fascinating & crammed with unusual sounds. Little Kix is their most glam record & the big songs are back - 'I Can Only Disappoint You', 'Fool', 'Electric Man'. Maybe start with the 1st LP. I'm really digging Liz Phair. She's brilliant. Doesn't pull her punches, eh?
i have the same problem with velvet underground, i can't seem to have a favorite. at the moment it is the third , but the loaded always occupies the post as well. waterboys is awesome!!
Thanks for the comment, Raphael! Sure is hard to rank VU records because they were so innovative and brilliant! Glad you dig the Waterboys, too! Rock on!
No question 'Loaded' is the best Velvet Underground LP in my mind, Hanna. I'd love to find a UK original (Atlantic plum coloured label) but it's very pricey. Oh well, I can dream...
Hi Bruce! Yeah, those originals of Loaded...who can afford one?! I suppose I could if I found one at a record show, but then I wouldn't have money to buy other records and I would have to go home right away! Hehe. Cheers and enjoy your evening!
The House of Love were the first decent band I ever saw back in 1988. I love their first 2 LPs. Pauline Black is great. I've been fortunate to meet her backstage at a festival I work at.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert Um, I was always bumping into Pauline Black & various members of The Selecter & The Specials, & later The Primitives. All Coventry bands, so locals for me & therefore easy to take for granted. 😆
@@marktait2371 Yes, Cov might be worth a quick visit (as long as the weather's fine). There's a small museum (which I've never visited) devoted to the local music scene. I'm guessing it covers Delia Derbyshire, The Sorrows, The Flys, the Two-Tone movement, The Prims, Cathedral, Bolt Thrower, Ghostpoet etc. One very good indie record store (Just Dropped In), a market stall that sells 2nd hand vinyl & CDs & a HMV. Seen The Selecter twice, once playing on the steps of the cathedral, then in a pub in Abingdon. Some friends of mine put them on in the early 2000s. They were well worth their £1000 fee. Pauline had the audience in the palm of her hand. Like a comedy Cruella Deville addressing the half-naked sweaty baldies at the front: 'No I will not sing happy birthday to your horrible friend.' 😂
Gutted I missed them. The one year they played my university campus (which was actually dead close to Camberwell, where the band came from) - just before Bickers left in late 89 - but it was the one year I'd been sent off to France for a language learning placement. Missed Lush on their first tour too for the same reason. When I came back in 1990 it was pretty much all over - Terry had formed Levitation and taken the weirdest guitar sounds that made them so good with him. Did get to see Levitation a load of times though - including on my 21st birthday at the ICA. It was a hell of a year to miss in the UK. When I left, Britain was still pretty goth and alternative (I spent my easter break following the Mission all over Europe in 1990). When I came back, I'd missed the first "proper" Nirvana UK tour (all my friends went of course) and Madchester had started (which I loathe to this day). Did manage to catch Mudhoney, Soundgarden and Spiritualized in Paris though - so it wasn't all bad....
Yep, early U2 defo the best - Boy & October, maybe skip one, but then great Unforgettable Fire - all staring Edge. The U/Fire when he really started expanding his sounds and use of effects. Oh, and just digressing, thanks for bringing The Saints to my attention a while ago - '77 was really when my interest in music took off but totally missed out on The Saints at the time - cracking band!
Greetings! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on U2. They're one of those bands I don't hate, but don't absolutely love, either. I really like their early period and Achtung Baby. The Edge was on fire those early years! Oh, so glad that you discovered the Saints through my channel! Awesome! I still can't get enough of them! One of a kind group!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I wish I could say the same. I have the limited edition gold vinyl version on the Cotilllon label, I think it was pressed by Vinyl Lovers and distributed by Rhino... its not good.
My vintage albums got into an altercation with my book collection in my library ...and they collapsed 12 shelves ...floor to ceiling. Even the art world has bar fights 🍸
I was notified about the incident via home video ..... I am currently 2000 miles away .... yes. It's a mess to be dealt with. Caused by a small earthquake in Los Angeles
I'm pretty much old school for most music, but with U2 I find The Joshua Tree to be a bit more commercial than say Achtung Baby, which is my favorite U2 record, right up there with War, my other favorite. From your statement, I am figuring you have not done a deep dive into Achtung, or was just not turned on by it? From your tastes, I would have thought you would like the deeper cuts..
@@TheOmahaIntrovert Cool.. nice. I've never had it on vinyl.. I believe it came out when there was hardly any vinyl being released. Thanks for the info, I will be interested in that one..
Great t-shirt!...Nice to see Selector in the mix.. Great album and Pauline Black is wonderfull..I absolutely love the original ska artists from Jamaica, Prince Buster, the Skatalites to name two.. I am also still to this day very much into the ska bands who came through in Britain in the late 70s/early 80s..Madness, Selector and especially the Specials...and Waterboys are great. I think "This is the sea" will be in my top ten albums ever. I am not too familiar with their earliest work but "Girl called Johnny" is one of their best songs...I never got House of Love at all, I must admit.."Shine on" is a decent pop song but apart from that they just didn't turn me on....Hanna maybe House of love is my Radiohead:-)
Greetings, Thomas! Yeah, I really dig those British ska bands you listed. I'm pretty behind on exploring the genre further, though. Ah, that's pretty awesome that This Is the Sea is in your top 10 albums of all time! High five to that! Oh, and by the way, I can't stand Radiohead. Hehe! Sorry to hear you're not a House of Love fan. To each his/her own, right?! See you next time!
I agree on the Joshua Tree issue. That's where I lost interest too. 🙂 I have to admit that I've not heard any Real Estate, so I'll have to check them out. The same goes for Straightjacket Fits... and I'm a huge Leonard Cohen fan. I'd encourage you to check out 'I'm Your Man', which is the album of his I think you'd be most likely to enjoy. Failing that, check out 'Famous Blue Raincoat', a Cohen covers album by Jennifer Warnes, who used to be a backup singer in his band. Superb album! I love Helios Creed too. He played on an excellent live album by Nik Turner, of Hawkwind fame. Green Pajamas are also great. I love Jeff Kelly's solo work too. I have the House of Love box set. It's wonderful. Oh do the 200!🙂
Hi Dave! Great to see you here again! Glad you agree with me about Joshua Tree, hehe. Hope you like Real Estate and Straitjacket Fits once you give them a sample. Both worth checking out! I still can't get into Cohen and I have listened to plenty and have tried. Ohhh, fantastic that you grabbed the House of Love box set, too! Cheers to that! And another vote for 200...I'm leaning towards that too! Thanks!
That House Of Love box set is ACE! I think the mastering was fine imo.
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the mastering! Excellent to read that! Can't wait to start spinning those starting Friday hopefully! Cheers!
Important and well said observation.
Lillywhite was a master at his craft! I need to check out more from the Screamers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and being here!
I'm jealous. I want that Cherry Red House of Love box set. It looks awesome. You're right too about Babe Rainbow. WAY underrated.
Thanks, Jeremy! Shouldn't be too tough to score a great deal on this House of Love box set right now. Hope you can experience it for yourself! Cheers!
Great finds Hanna! That Selecter debut is a classic. Love your T shirt as well. Keep on Rockin! Thanks for sharing the video.
Rock on, my friend ! Glad you dig my Costello shirt as well! Peace.
Sorry to disappoint regarding my opinion of Joshua Tree, Robert! Hope you have an excellent Wednesday!
The last essential U2 album was Achtung Baby...it sounds stranges at the first listen but give it time...after ten listens it makes sense and it will grow on you
@@thomasandersen6719 I haven’t listened to it since it came out, but it really didn’t catch me at that time.
Fantastic find with the Selector LP now you've got to hunt for the rest of the TwoTone family! You can't go wrong with Ska!!
I'll be adding more ska to the collection if I come across it, I'm sure! Pretty rare around here! Thanks for dropping by!
Good Morning 🌞 Hanna ! First To ✅️ In 👍
Right on, David! G’morning! 👋🏻
Wonderful video & great EC t-shirt 🤓😎!
The Waterboys - excellent band! :)
Absolutely! I instantly loved them upon my first listen!
I totally agree with you on the 3 best U2 albums! I have to check out that House of Love box set...thanks for bringing this to my attention.
You bet! Glad I was able to bring awareness to House of Love in this way! Well worth checking out! Hope all is well! Cheers!
Outstanding shirt. Another great show…..greetings from Lincoln.
Thanks so much, Joe! Hello to you in Lincoln! Sucks that Lefty's closed! Cheers!
Great pickups Hanna. Love that Elvis shirt too. I say go for 200. Why not. Makes for good content. Rock on Hanna!
Cheers!
Hi Hanna great finds. I’ve had fisherman’s blues on cd since 1989. Just found it on vinyl Saturday at my local shop for $2!
Hi Jim! Thanks for checking out to see what I've picked up! Wow, how is the condition on the Fisherman's Blues for $2 that you grabbed?
It had a sticker on it for $16 but the owner had it in the $2 bin. When I asked if it was placed in wrong section he said you can have it for $2. He’s more of a heavy metal/punk guy.
Well, that's certainly one heck of a bargain for that album! lucky you!
Hanna, thanks for your recommendation for SLOAN some time ago! Bought all their Records/CDs…. Thanks and Greetings from Germany

Awesome, Michael! Did you pick up their latest album, too? I think it's called "Steady." I have yet to grab it. They are so excellent, like Todd said!
When all the new Ska bands came over for their first gigs around 1980 in LA, I saw all of them, But The Selecter was my favorite!

I got a great tip on the Fisherman's Box that I've been wanting since it came out in 2013. Under $30 bucks and free shipping from the UK on Amazon. Finally got wise and ordered it. Thank you so much for watching!
The house of love brilliant band 👍
I couldn't agree more!
Chrome and Helios Creed, great picks!
Right on! Thanks, Steph! Would love to find more!
Cool records!
Thanks, John! Glad you enjoyed seeing my latest pickups! Cheers!
Killer! I vote for top 100 doing 25 at a time. Also, yes to punk….always.
Hi there! Very cool you have a first Brazilian press of U2's War! Fantastic! I appreciate you watching! See you next time!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert,thanks!!!!!!!
Cool Helios Creed album. I still need to find that one. I have some Green Pajamas, but not that early. Thanks, Chris
Thumbs up!
The House of Love are great. Love the song Destroy the Heart.
Yes! that debut album is gold! Thanks for watching, Andrew!
I think you already knew this but the guitarist for Virgin Prunes Dik Evans is David "The Edge" Evans of U2!
I did know that and it's a fun tidbit! :)
Great, fun video! Several suggestions for me. How many bands have done songs titled "Spy in the House of Love"? The Doors, Was (Not Was), the DBs, Ellen Foley, etc., etc.
Hi Erik! Must say that I absolutely love the dB's "A Spy in the House of Love!"😉
my heart sank a little bit when you said you weren't a Cohen fan.
Cohen makes my heart sink too much.
I own all 80s early 90s U2 lps. Do I listen to them? In al honesty no.. should I sell them ? No because 1 day I'll get an itch to revisit them 😂
Ive said it b4 Your collection has come a long way !
Hi Hayden! I hope we get more reissues by Straitjacket Fits! I will check out Melt. I haven't gotten that far yet! What a solid band! Cheers!
Cheers!
Dig that Helios Creed find. You don't see his or Damon Edge's albums out there too often.
True. I would love to stumble upon their stuff in the wild. Would be a treat!
Hey hanna definitely like early u2 as well
And velvet underground it’s always a toss up banana or subway I think I always go back to loaded good to see lyres!
As I just turned 54 I’m really getting more into punk garage power pop etc 💪
Thanks for the great video
Whoa!!
Thanks
yeh friend us uk mate elvis model.have the rkyko cd with extras sold vinly years ago two tone also but have one comp. best of few days ago revisted selecter out on the streets xmas himecoming show 1992 in coventry home turf tic toc worth having if you can find the cd not two tone but uk indie label
From Carl.
Just saw The HOL in Detroit. Mr. Guy Chadwick signed my copy of the Burn Down The World box set. Echo and the Bunnymen > U2. Digging the show so far.
Worth checking out Scottish band "Love & Money" strange kind of love Album. The music arrangement n sound quality pressing, superb!
Thanks for the suggestion! Just read up on them and I love Friends Again, so I'm sure I will dig Love & Money! I'll be sampling them! Cheers!
Cheers
House Of Love are superb! Cant tell you what the CDs are like, because i bought all the albums when they came out.
Thanks, Neil! I most likely would have bought all the House of Love LPs when they came out, too but I was just in elementary school and didn't know what decent music was yet! Glad you're a major fan of theirs, too! Thanks for the comment!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert that makes me feel old!
Wasn’t my intention !!!😆😆😆
Neil - so did I - at least up to Babe Rainbow, when I (regretfully and mistakenly) lost interest as I followed Bickers over to Levitation and thought Guy was a bit of a knob - but you need this box anyway. The "from the vaults" stuff is worth more than the price of admission - many of the alternative versions are closer to what the band wanted to put on the albums if the record company hadn't interfered. And they all sound awesome.
Also - the "complete Peel sessions" 2 CD set is essential. Recorded some of those off the radio when they were first broadcast.
you got a lot of music to listen to my friend and have fun and great video..
Hi Curtis! Sometimes I overwhelm myself with all this music! Guess that's a good problem to have, though! Enjoy your evening and thanks again!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert anytime my friend have you ever got into Elvis Presley's music
I have one of his gospel records.
The Chills aren't playing Omaha, but I'd be thrilled to see them.
Some good picks as usual, liking the comments on how long people stuck with U2, for me Rattle and Hum was probably the end phase for me with them
Hi Stevie! Yeah, it seems there are different drop-off points with U2. I do like Achtung Baby, though!
Mine too - but got back on the bus for "Achtung" and stayed on it out of habit for far too long afterwards. Bono's book's good though.
Thanks, J! Oh, I shop on eBay a lot! Ah, Movie Mars. The issue I have with them is the very slow shipping times. Enjoy your evening! :-)
@@glycerinequeen3726 I'll check it out. Thanks for mentioning.
Glad we are in agreement re: U2! Seems there are others here who agree as well! Cheers to that!
Rock on!
Rock on
No question 'Loaded' is the best Velvet Underground LP in my mind, Hanna.
Hi Mark! Must have been stunning to have seen House of Love in '88!
And you met Pauline Black! High five! I bet she was very gracious. Cheers!
Great t shirt
Thanks, Richard!
If that copy of Loaded has the extended version of sweet jane, that's pretty much cut from the same digital files as the CD
Great dynamics on this repress. It sounds excellent to my ears.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I wish I could say the same. I have the limited edition gold vinyl version on the Cotilllon label, I think it was pressed by Vinyl Lovers and distributed by Rhino... its not good.
I have those albums in my collection 😍
Awesome! Albums to enjoy over and over! Cheers!
My vintage albums got into an altercation with my book collection in my library ...and they collapsed 12 shelves ...floor to ceiling. Even the art world has bar fights 🍸
Yikes!!!! I don’t imagine that was fun to pick up!
I love Achtung Baby as well. They won me back over with that one! I think there is a new vinyl reissue coming out soon for Achtung Baby.
I have to admit that I've not heard any Real Estate, so I'll have to check them out.
Thanks!
You might want to check out the Young Marble Giants and the Shop Assistants - 2 great underrated bands
Thanks! I know and respect them both!
