Gaggia Classic Pro and Sette 30 owner! I’m about to buy the 270 assembly. Man your videos are great and very helpful in this journey through the perfect espresso. Keep them coming!
Hahah the end was so funny. Your Gaggia classic pro video helped me so much and now I upgraded to a sette 270 from a hand grinder and you’re helping me again!! Thank you!
The sette is best in the business. It’s loud because it’s a drop throw true zero retention grind. The best fluff no clump and easy to work on. Baratza has the best customer service in the. Business. They would service your Baratza even if your grinder is out of warranty. Cant beat this. The newer ones are less noisey. I have the 270 will measures it out already built in scale by açaí. This grinder can go to any bean any grind. The only thing when you dial to a finer setting do it while grinder is running not when it’s not.
Exactly what you said mate, couldn't agree more. The last part about adjusting to a finer setting while having the grinder on is a must. Thank you for the comment and explanation 🙏
Upon receipt (new coffee grinder), I immediately installed one gasket (shim) under the central bur. Now the grind size is 12 for Espresso. I wanted to check with users or Tecnikian specialists. This will not affect the operation of the coffee grinder in any way: is it that you haven’t ground it a little, should you grind at least 1 kg of coffee? Will this somehow affect the durability of a pair of bur wheels? Another question is whether changing the grind size with the engine off makes a difference; While I'm doing this, they say it's better when it works. I am tormented by vague doubts!
Yes sir, already figured that out after a couple of days of using the grinder. There was a gentleman that pointed that out when we first posted this video 😊 That's actually true for all grinders, if you're trying to make an adjustment towards a finer setting, you should always have the grinder running
You a real one man and tell it how it is lol I just got a deal for $270 on whole latte love website. Still pricey for me, but hopefully I don’t regret it!
Do you know why when i use the portafilter under this grinder it creates magnetic field and coffee sticks around portafilter and around the hole of grinder and makes a mess coffee all around the machine!
Ciao paesano. Nice video. Which of the following three grinders would you say are best to buy (assuming they all cost about the same): a new Sette 270; a new Rancilio Rocky; or a secondhand Fiorenzata F5? I am only interested in espresso, no other type of coffee. Grazie amico.
Depends on how you're using it. If you're the type of person that single doses and switches between different coffees often, then you're better off with the 270. If you just buy a kilo of beans and fill up the hopper, then I'd go for the Fiorenzato :)
Wow, I am now looking around for good grinder, have seen the one u present now and I like it much. Afternoon I visit yt and I see your video😀 Just love it. Plus I also have gaggia😄
Be warned though, you will have to tinker around with it more than other grinders. I’ve seen a lot of people reporting breakage at 6 months and 2 years. I did buy it too, since it is currently available at Baratza’s site, refurbished, for $299, and I am also okay with tinkering with it, since I am only looking for a new grinder due to breaking my old one by playing around with it too much.
Hi, thanks for your reviews. As a Gaggia Classic Pro fan I think am a little additionally biased :-). Just wanted to confirm that the Gaggia bottomless portafilter will also fit in this grinder? Wasn't sure if the spouts in the standard portafilter were used to hold it in place and hence checking. Thanks in advance
Hello there! I just wanted to say thank you for the fun and informative videos. It's nice to see how your production style has also gotten better with time. Quick question: are you still using the method where you switch on the boiler for 20 seconds before brewing espresso in order to make for a more even extraction temperature? I started doing so after seeing your tip, and was wondering if you continue to do so yourself. Keep up the great work!
After getting the PID there is no need to temperature surf. Without a PID though, I think it's necessary to temperature surf in order to get better results 😁
I chose the baratza too, in the end. Less retention than the mignon and 2/3 price of niche. Can’t wait for it to arrive - been using preground Lavazza Rossi for a few months with my new old gag classic while saving up for the grinder!
Another great tip! Each micro step is around a second or two of extraction time👍🏼 I bought the same grinder and I’m impressed and I’m at macro 6 or 7 for espresso. Did you shim the grinder? Love the info you post on your videos👌🏼
Thank you Ranjit. When I received the grinder it didn't have the shims, so it couldn't grind fine enough for espresso. I installed one of them and now it's perfect 😁

Hey, newbie here with sette 270 & classic pro on its way from Whole Latte Love. Have no idea what shims are and don't plan to get them, so was wondering if you'd still use the same grinder settings (7A)? Also, noticed you pushed the 3rd button with a pre-set of 20 seconds, but thought you used #2 for 11 seconds (isn't 20 seconds too long for 19g)? I'd like to have some kind of baseline so I'm not wasting tons of beans on experimentation, especially since I'm just now entering this brave new world for the first time. Thx!
Save for a little bit and get the Eureka Migon Specialita. You won't regret it and eventually when you upgrade your machine, your grinder will still be awesome man. 👍 My two cents
Can you not slightly increase/decrease the quantity of the coffee to adjust the flow rate and brew time, instead of micro-adjustments of the grinder (e.g. if you have the Sete 30)?
Hey Jason, I have no idea why that would happen. Might have something to do with the anti static element that's installed in the bottom burr. Try disassembling it and give it a good clean, then see if it's still happening.

Hey Jeff, the espresso range is between 5-6 for me as well, with 1 of the shims installed. But with the 270 you get 7 micro settings for each macro, so it's pretty good 😁
