Saw a 500E in the wild, talked to the owner and he explained that he just got it fully restored. Loves it, absolutely beautiful.
As a life long car fan, with a reasonable amount of experience, the 500E is a car I’ll never sell from the collection, others come and go. For me it’s the high point of Mercedes engineering and technology
With regards to the Fuel pump voltage issue, would it be possible to provide a new direct from battery power feed to the fuel pump relay, under the back seat and maintain the control element of the ECU and relay, thus reducing the overall load on the ECU. In fairness, 99% of the engine harness have been replaced? The throttle control module, needs stripping, cleaning the gears checking lubing and integrity of the sub loom?
Most of the issues I have seen with modules are related to old capacitors. You can take them apart and solder in new caps. They are pretty bulletproof otherwise unless you short them out with eco junk wiring.
@ thanks for the info. I see talk about this and using Panasonic replacement
As a owner of my 2nd W108 and lover of 108s and 109s, I'm SO glad you said "600"!
Thank you so much for breaking my heart over and over again. Every car you listed is on my acquire list for 2025 but that’s exactly why I watch your channel. I would rather have you break my heart than have a Mercedes mechanic break my wallet and not get the car right. Thank you for a great year and all the awesome videos
We have a 1994 A124 E-Class convertible since new in our family and love it as it is our holiday car. Also the beryl blue colour is an absolute head turner. Main issues we had so far was a bit of rust along the chrome parts (especially near the boot button on the rear) and constantly broken and hard to fix is the belt bringer on the passenger side. Other than that a highly enjoyable cruiser for almost every day. Mileage is now close to 90k kilometres, which is around 56k miles.
It’s not driven that much anymore but I use it once I visit my family in Germany.
We love it for weddings and sometimes borrow it as it is classy, timeless and because prices have not rocketed it’s not a car that creates jealousy.
A perfect allrounder…
Oh and yes, it’s a 320
Hello Pierre.
I have a 1992 500 E for almost 18 years now, it has been ultra reliable, albeit engine harness was replaced when I bought it in 2007. The 500 E is a W124, everything is bullet proof and simple. The worst thing about it is the lack of specific 500 E parts, almost nothing is available at Mercedes, which made me drive it less and less, with afraid of something bad happening.
I also have 2 W140s, a S600 and CL420, 1996 and 1997 respectively. So far, no problems at all
I have a 1998 w140, and it is just absolutely just beautiful...
You should do a monthly pleasure drive 15 minutes or so and describe the experience, this is what boostes numbers, thanks for the video greetings from Ireland
I find this concept appealing and will inquire with Pierre to ascertain his availability for this task. I have several potential strategies to facilitate its implementation.

@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 He could probably give some interesting insights, such as the vacuum powered door locks, pneumatic systems, etc.
Your 500E comments are surprising. I own and have daily driven a 123, 201, 107, and 124 400E. The 400e has been my favorite daily driver iv'e ever owned. Sure its harder to work on and required a lot of painful sorting, but the end result is so damn worth it.
But do you turn your own wrenches… that is where he is coming from. I agree on his logic and am a shop also
Yes I do everything myself
Mentioning 500E and W140 in this list is like opening a door to hell in the comments section! So many folks love them and religiously defend them... 🤣
I watch in fear that one of them is what I own ! I have the 1993 300CE Convertible and I find it magical with 153,000 miles. The top isn't functioning. $850 had the top working for about 6 months. I love how it looks and like a 1998-2001 500SL, I would be happy leaving the hardtop on.
I'd love a W115 with a working blower motor... Been there, done that. I once rescued a 1980 W116 300SD from it's owners. $600 and it was rough. I spent many hours(and $) correcting all the hack repairs. I never got the HVAC to work right. We named the car "Murphy" after murphy's law. I swear it leaked fluids it didn't even have. However, it still rode and drove like a big S class. I put it on Craigslist for $1000 + come get it and almost had to referee a brawl in my driveway.
I’ve had a 1995 S420 for eight years and 55K miles, and do t think I’ll ever sell it. Just took it out this morning because a recent thaw and rain cleared the roads of salt; what a pleasure! As much as I loved my 560 SEL, and I miss it, the W140 is more modern, more comfortable, and an equal highway cruiser.
Love your videos and this one was a good one Pierre :D You are so intelligent and you've covered so many intricate topics that NEED to get out there but unfortunately, they are a bit too specific for the majority of your audience to be able to relate to on a personal level. It is so much fun to listen to your opinions and experience on topics like this! You know the small picture and the big picture inside and out, even the simplest topics you choose are filled with super interesting facts! Thank you for the videos brother man!
Yeah!
C'mon Pierre, 500E, E500, W140, its worth the effort.
A very wealthy man in our town wanted to buy a 600 LWB. He and I used the same Certified Master Tech who was really great...and I do mean great. He warned the man in detail but nonetheless the car was bought and then the repairs and bills started mounting up. Our tech did not over-charge at all. He kept the car for about a year before finally giving up.
Interesting to hear you say that about the W140, because I have heard the opposite from some who have owned both early and late 140s. The consensus was that Daimler-Benz cheapened the cars after 1995 and that the early cars were better made and had more features. They did have electrical issues due to well intentioned but poorly conceived wiring as we all know. One thing that would make me shy away from any W140 or any Mercedes from that era is the lack of parts availability such as keys.
The 2007+ s550 v8s are great engines
I have a 95 w140 S320 and love it!
I have 1999 S500 Grand Edition. It’s been absolutely marvelous to own. Everything works as it should. I’ve done all schedule maintenances on time. And in the one maybe two instances something has gone wrong it’s been addressed immediately. One time was a faulty front end tie rod (so I replaced both) and I think it was more my fault. Well the roads fault for a sudden and unavoidable pot hole. The second issue I’ve had with is was cosmetic. And that was when the inner roof insulation panel started to fall inside the roof causing the sunroof to not slide back all the way. Everything else has all been routine service as would be with any car. Fluids, filters, spark plugs, coil packs, brakes, rotors etc. things just simply wear out with driving/use over the years. I think why the w140 gets such a bad rep is that people get them on the used market. They think I got 100k dollar car for dirt cheap. But then when it needs something, and they see the Mercedes price of repairs, they either get rid of the car or ignore the problem. Then the problem gets worse and turn into more problems. Which creates the laundry list of repairs these cars often come with. Everyone wants a Mercedes until it’s time to service that Mercedes. And then expect it to cost the same as a Honda to fix. Just my two cents. But if you can find well kept w140 that has been properly serviced you’ll have a car that’s a joyful experience as Mercedes ownership should be. And if you’re someone who buy one that’s neglected and you’re also willing to invest in getting it all sorted out. Then you too will have a car that’s a joy to own. Even if you spend a few grand buying the car, and 5 to 10 grand more on sorting it all out, you’ll still come or cheaper than buying one brand new (or even a few years old )and having a massive monthly payment.
Thanks excellent video the diecast model you have on your book shelf where did you get from ?
Dealer promo maybe? Just a guess.
Nailed them I was in parts for forty years.I totally agree with you.
Personally, W123 is the best. Built by hand, Zero computer frippiery
Happy New Year Pierre!🍸🍾
Thanks for the content. I enjoy your perspective.
I can agree with most of these. but the Grosser 600 is an absolute classic. Yes, it will be a nightmare to mainrain, but so are Ferraris and Rolls of that era. You buy it not for reliability but because its an automotive and luxury icon. That said, I doubt that many of these are daily drivers, even for people with cheauffers.
A shame but true. It would be a true sign of class, if not luxury, to show up at red carpet events in one of these.
Love your owners manual collection! Must have junked a ton of cars. 😁
Those are technical service manuals in the background that didn't come with cars
@@MBNB85 I've a had a bunch of '60s -'70s Mercedes. The owners manuals were huge!
The MB service manuals are like NYC phone books.
Well, very good insight👍🏻. Helps to focus on the right years.
500e I love love love it. Did I also see the baby Benz on your no go list?!
The first year 190e, 1984
Great content. Happy New Year Pierre!
Thanks for the list. We see the world from a mechanic point of view. All those cars are probably the best driving experience cars one can get, but I understand the point, pulling 2 engine mount out from a R129 SL500 M119 is not easy.
Happy new year to you Pierre, your team and all my fellow subscribers of this channel.
Amongst your worst Classic Mercedes Benz cars is the 1988/1989 W201 190E included or is it just specifically the 1984 model?
I am seriously considering a 1988 W201 190E.
My w211 e63 AMG is wonderful. Continuing to look for w126 300sdl…impossible to find clean one
Happy New Year Pierre
The worst Mercedes I ever owned was a 1977 6.9. My boss gave it to me and it looked pristine, key word LOOKED. I spent $50K in 1995 dollars in restoring it and after that it was still a piece of poo. I kept it until 2000. My mechanic was the premiere mechanic in the Beverly Hills area and even he told me one day, with the amount of money you are spending on restoring this car monthly, your monthly car payments on a new 2000 SL500 would be cheaper. I went kind of ice cold when I heard that and shortly thereafter bought a used but new to me 1998 SL500. I still have it today. This car has been Toyota reliable and the MPG isn't too bad either. Top hydraulics repaired once for $2,000 and a new canvas top were its biggest expenses.
My dream car. The R129 that is.
Why did an image of a W111 coupe pop up - are those on your undesirable list too?
It's a weird image too, the side window seems too big.
I'm wondering if the exhaust issues of 450's are overblown and hear a lot of comments on forums. I have owned a 76 450slc for 20 year and driven regularly. It definitely runs on the hot side, but does not overheat even in 90+ weather with air conditioner in slow traffic. Other comments about how the head damages vacuum hoses faster.....maybe, but I had new hoses put in when I purchased and not a problem with them since, they still feel pliable. Just my experience.
I like the 500E, but actually like the 400E even more. As you cannot see what it is, until you see the number behind. Otherwise I am agreeing to all of it.
Was the Euro 450’s as problematic around 1975? Or is it a US spec only thing?
A classic Mercedes gets blown up in the first episode of The Day of the Jackal
That plum-purple high-grill coupe in the thumbnail brought me in!
An E500 would be Exceptionally hard to resist
I also love the underrated SLC, especially the 500. The only 190E I ever liked would be a later production 2.6. I have zero interest in Diesels or anything less than six cylinders.
ML 320 will it ever become a Hedary fleet adding SUVs will increase interest in the channel in this SUV craze world?
The early Euro W201 also had v belts and the early mono wiper that had 2 rubber blades. An early Euro W201 will probably be easier to get parts for since they don’t have the US only 2.2 liter engines and auto climate control.
This is my list of unwanted Mercedes:
1. W124 4matic: Fitting 4WD was an afterthought and getting some specific 4matic stuff is a nightmare.
2. W113: I can’t stand the 113 crowd. I’m also not a fan positive camber.
3. CL203: If you want a cheap car that feels premium, why not getting a Mk4 Golf instead?
4. GLK: This is a poser car. Poor people who want to look rich drive that. Awful interior too.
5. GLA and X-Class: These aren’t even a Mercedes, they are just a f*cking Nissan underneath. Plus they look awful as well.
lol what a concidence. Just so happens in my w140 with the V8 once in a very while seemingly totally randomly (though only when the engine is still warm) it will take a very long time to start and backfire while it cranks and if it does start it will run like garbage and have no power. No check engine light on. Leave the car alone for a few hours and it will start and run like new and the problem won't appear again for many weeks. I was suspecting it could be the LH module. Low and behold I watch this video and Pierre mentions on the 500e at 7:29 about this problem how the module screwing with the voltage of the fuel pumps and they have the same m119 engine family 😅
The problem is much simpler than that: humidity on the distributor cap, just clean them when that happens, and the car will be as new.
Unfortunately, there is no way to solve this problem if the car is not driven often
@AntonioPeres80 Thank you for the tip, I will keep that in mind next time it happens.
Hey Pierre! Loving the content.
You mentioned you would put a family member in a w140. What other "non-classic" / "classic" Mercedes would you put a kid or family member in? How do you feel about w210s or w163s?
The w210 had rust issues. Well, the ones up here in New England did.
for a kid, how about a W202, 203, 204?
W204. Great car
Looking for a new classic Mercedes to revive! Great info !
I have a w140 from 1996....I LOVE ❤️ IT.....🎉😂75.000KM....LIKE A GLOVE....!!!!!
title: 5 Mercedes I would never consider owning
Pierre: 5 Mercedes I would definitely own if someone gave me a nice example for cheap
Ciao a tutti, iscritto dall'Italia
You said number 4 twice . #4 the 450 se/sel SL. Then you said # again for the w124 500e.
I would argue that the early run of the w140 92-93 was of higher quality before Mercedes began to cost-cut more aggressively on later years of the production run. Open deck block vs. closed deck block design, metal cam oiler tubes vs problematic plastic (m119), better leather, even silver paint on the engine cover lettering vs just black plastic later on, etc. You will have to deal with the upper and lower harnesses but they really aren't that bad to replace if you can rebuild your own/find a used one from a later year. But I agree fully on steering clear of the 92-93 m120 cars unless you are a true masochist
Nothing wrong with early 120 cars. Just mind all the wiring and find the lowest mileage example you can. Had 93/s600 put 20k miles on it after going thru it. Never really gave me trouble. Was my daily.
So a w201 1987 1902.3 is worth while?
With 190D you can go places but at 60tops. Thet should have LS2 V8s anyway. The 450 also
I almost bought a 1984 190,: it was standard, roll up windows and carbureted. The local MB dealership guessed it was built in Argentina. I can find no reference to Argentinian MB production.
I cant believe I lived long enough to see pierre say he would own a W140😂.
So which 5 would you like to own…?
W123/C123, W126/C126, W204/C204 and W218
Ok, with the Grosser ( and any of the more troublesome models ) I would modernise all the systems.
Modern air suspension, EFI, etc. Just get it up to date and forget about originality.
at one time , owned a 85 190e auto for over 200k miles , great car , very little problems , one valve job , one transmission . The 84 was not that much different .
Certainly the 600 and w140 is not suitable for an average owners. The 600 is very complex while the 140 is a classic benz with modern day technology in it.
Thank you for giving the W140 diesel the credit it deserves! People hate it for obvious reasons, but it is just perfect for me. I'm on my second one... and they both burn oil. I'm itching for an S320. The W126 is exceptionally overrated... a long sail boat with creaky seats... the w140 in any flavor is far superior. If you aren't willing to work on your own vehicle, you probably shouldn't be owning any of these.
Well, if the seats creak that means they're either already worn or starting to get worn.
if you think a W126 is overrated you just haven't found one in good condition.
We have a 300SD ourselves and it's seats are the most comfy you have ever had.
But we also have a 280S which we got scammed with about 12 years ago and those seats are creaky, but that's because the leather is all hardened and as a result starts to creak.
but with the 300SD where it's still in immaculate condition the leather is nice and soft and really soothing to the touch.
I own a 2003 Toyota solara it has 197 on the clock I had to replace the front seal it was leaking oil. Great car a better car than my 2011 BMW 328 XI.
Come to think of it don't think I have ever seen a w201 below 1986 reg
Nice information.
Glad to hear you’d like a W140 Turbodiesel! One day!
The W140 Turbodiesel was two completely different versions. Two totally different engines (S350 and S300). S350 was the first years of 90s. S300 the last years. S350 was rather bad overall, even if a S300 owned by a local guy stinks awful diesel fumes even when idling (Euro 1 i 1998).
We've happily owned our 1984 w201 190, since 1986
Diesel, that is )
Who made you put this shirt on!? We wanna see the hard work your T-shirt!
Spot on
When you started mentioning W116, and then said 1975, I was dreading hearing you mention 280S (my car), but you didn’t! I know they have some similar “challenges”, but was happy it wasn’t on your list.
Which of course doesn’t necessarily mean you’d WANT one lol….I got mine because it was local, cheap and in relatively decent shape
I saw a 1976 280S for sale once and thought about it, but why would you want to put up with a car that has about the same power as a 300SD but much worse fuel economy? If I wanted a 280S, I would want a 1974 or earlier or a European non-catalyst. Otherwise, I would want fuel injection and avoid 75 and 76 with the thermal reactor.
Other than the fuel injection system on earlier W116 there are no problems if you have a Euro car or a Euro exhaust on the US car.
after 2 seconds of watching: 2 types of hair and beard cut i will never own
If I owned a W100 LWB, it would have to be a later model. And I used to be 6'6" in the old money. Compromise in the driver's area to maximise the room in the back of the car would not make it a pleasure to drive. And I would want to drive it and not be the ponce in the back being chauffeured about the place.
Unfortunately, the Federal Exhaust Gas Emissions Ban Ordinance BABVVO and the Federal Transport Tourism Emission Restriction Ordinance TEBBVO will soon ban exhaust emissions and transport tourism emissions nationwide!!
OLD MERCEDES?. IS IT A DIESEL.? Oh GOOD ☺ I was a Mercedes Tech in a shop for years having to go pull parts off of other cars to test and diagnose a car on the rack with electronic Madness, I decided I wanted no part in owning gasoline Mercedes. I did keep my mother's gasoline convertible only cuz it was her car bought new. But overall it's the Diesels forget the rest. After 1985 they became plastic cars with plastic Stars
My dad was life time, old world Mercedes mechanic. He was one very few techs who did Benz mechanical fuel injection systems and knew how to maintain them in timely manner. He hated Mercedes vehicles because of their uniqueness to other vehicles. Almost everything had to be made differently. Not meaning “better”.
Who ever was the engineer who made the hare brain decision to install biodegradable electrical wiring in 1986-1994 Benzes. Worst “recycling” idea ever.
Avanti Sempre MOTORE ITALLIA, Ing. Carlo Negri, vinceremmo!
Ich glaub diese 5 klassischen Mercedes sind froh , nicht im Besitz dieses Langhaar Gauchos zu sein .
1st gen 4-Matic….
W124 though?
Cousin Pierre….Cousin Pierre….Cousin Pierre…..normally I’m with you 99.5% of the time. You even allude in your way to the Laws of Deferred Maintenance Costs that I articulated (to much derision at the time) about 15 years ago for MBs. :). Agree with you on four out of five. But I have to (not surprisingly) disagree with you on the 500E. It’s not all that bad, and ALL of the key issues have been identified, and solved / sourced, by the crafty members on the 500E board. Not to mention many dozens of detailed HOW-TOs on every maintenance/rebuild/resto job you can imagine for the V-8 (and often, I-6) W124s. For example, you mention the LH unit …. All you have to do is solder in a couple or three appropriate (mil-spec preferred) $1.00 capacitors to replace the Frako caps, which fail in ALL MBs containing them…..problem solved, no need to throw away or replace the LH. You can get to 80% of E500E diagnostic codes with a $10 Radio Shack parts homemade blink tester, or get to 100% of the codes through the HHT or HHT-Win software on the STAR C3/C4 etc. See…it’s not so bad. I was scared you were going to call out my other babies….the 1989-1991 560SEC, or 2007-2009 W211 E63 AMG. Whew !! 😂😅😊
I immediately thought of you and the 500EBoard the moment the 500E showed up on Pierre's list. That was fast. 😄
Hi Gerry,
Seasons greetings from France and Vietnam😃
I wish you the very best for 2025
BTW, I concur with you answer regarding the 500E.
God bless the 500E BOARD 🙏
Richard Chevalier
@@rcdrum29 @uvre9938 I think the 500E falls a few years after Cousin Pierre’s “sweet spot” of the 123, 126, 108, 109, Slash-8 and 116 models that he loves, is all. If you look at his Top-5 Naughty List in this video, much of it is “young classic” cars of the 201/124/140 era. Pierre has called out the 500E board in the past here on his channel as a resource for 500E owners, so he’s definitely aware of it. Most models don’t have such a dedicated and focused resource, and this definitely helps make the ownership experience better (if/when people find the forum). The E500E is not all that hard to work on. Also the 500E board was recently ranked #13 Mercedes forum globally, which I’m proud of having built from scratch more than 16 years ago. There’s some pretty entrenched and long standing competition with not only US-based but UK and European MB forums of all types.
Huge thanks Gerry for maintaining THE definitive board for E500E owners 🙂 Fun to participate for any W124 owner honestly. As these issues continue to get documented, I feel more of an itch for a 500E. The W124 platform is unmatched in my opinion
@@gerryvanzandt7894 as a w140 owner with a 1992 M119 5.0 - the 500E board has been the best resource I have ever found for any vehicle I have owned ❤️
i have no problems with my 1988 190E 2,6 mercedes the only problem was the mechanic i brought it off he tald me it was all right to put 91 unleaded in it and he was surpost to be Qulifided mechanic i find out later when ihad problems with starting and running slugish i parked it under a the veranda for couple of years and rang a mechanic one day about ECU UNIT they said in stead off buying any thing he told me to drop it off and he look at quickly well it took a day and told me fuel distributer the blader was not good and he want the old one lookat it rang his supplyer they gasbaged about price the she was back on the road NOW NEVER EVER Put 91unlead in these cars ONLY PUT 95 unleaded he said and dont put 98 unleaed because your fule hoses will shrink for memory and thats were you will get petrol smell coming through your car. and yes i have too agree about 300e i all so owned 1 but it was a 1990 3ooE 24v they can be a pain but the mechanic changed the head gasket and ran again they are reliable mine dun 261000 km when the head gaskit got dun.
Never much cared for the 4cyl 190E, but I did like the 2.6, especially with the 5-sp. I would never own ANY Mercedes with a power top, period...way too many issues and very hard to diagnose and repair. I never had a 600 for a personal car but I have bought/sold several (all swb except for one Pullman 4dr). I'd never own one because of the repair costs and difficulty with parts these days...but I'd be happy to ride in one (in the back, of course, like a proper gent), any time! Never had a '75 116, never wanted one because of the problems, but I've had several earlier ones and loved them, especially the '72. I have owned 2 6.9s, but it was a long time ago and I would not want one now. Had two 500Es and loved them, but it was a long time ago when I was still a dealer; as a mortal consumer I would not want one. Would not want a 140 for the same reason as the 500E and the age is becoming a problem. Plus, I never really cared for the dynamics; the cars always seemed too big and wallow-ey for my taste. Good video!
Fake News 😂 würde ein Herr Trump sagen.

Thank you for your honesty, Pierre. As a qualified Carpenter, Range Officer, Firearms Instructor and a former Club Range Complex Manager; I sometimes punch a few holes in people’s illusions about the quality or otherwise, of items that they talk about buying. You should never assume honesty on the part of any manufacturer without solid empirical evidence and you need to understand, as best as possible, the various rationales for individual product introductions. Published specifications can be false for legacy products and true for more up to date products from the same manufacturer; even though the products themselves are reliable and durable. Good decisions require good information.
I don't really want any Mercedes with a V8 engine. Sure, they are great, but maintenance costs plus high price of gasoline, insurance and taxes in Portugal would make it cost prohibited for me.
Agree on 500E. For me Mercedes are all about function and daily use, and a 300E is much better for that. Narrow body looks better and is more true to the original block of granite design too, IMO.
Agree on the 500e. I sold my 91 400e because it would hit 80 mph and just not accelerate anymore. LH module rebuilt, fuel pumps, fuel reg. Nothing worked. Scanning it showed nothing. No lights on. Noone wanted to work on it. I was at my end.
rev up your engines!
Pierre. stay calm - no one will offer you any of the models mentioned for free. You can sleep well.
I keep it simple. I avoid anything that says "S Class".
W202, W209, R129, R170 and W163 so far. All have been pretty decent other than worn out suspensions.
Pontons escaped the list.
What's wrong with pontons?
You’re speaking from the mechanic point of view not as an enthusiast about the W124 500E.
What about my 1988 560sel with limousine rear seats? 🤔
Lots of input I can offer, so I’ve had 4 560 cars and love them but some intricacies are this, 86-87 have better suspension, a tad more power, shorter transmission gearing, and the magical torque dampening rear suspension and slightly wider factory alloy wheels. But they do have less features and a classic but not as amazing interior and no dual airbags. Then in 88 they did kinda neuter the 560 cars in the USA market. They dumped the amazing rear suspension, shorter gearing, and 10 less hp, smaller wheels and lower tire pressures and softer suspension parts. All that and yet no upgrades to the interior that the 89 cars got. It’s an odd year. Then the 89-91 cars got the upgraded interior and are more likely to have the sunshade, dual airbags, ortho seats, seat heaters, 10 speaker system, and slightly better diagnostics and engine management. But they lack the suspension of the 86-87 cars which drive better. Now on my cars I added the early car suspension to my 89 560sel and on my 87, swapped in a complete 91 interior complete with dual airbags and all wiring. Now you have a budget euro spec 560
But regarding reliability they are robust but need head gaskets around 160k miles, non resister plugs, premium fuel, and almost every one needs injectors badly (I’ve seen 2 cis engines due due to failed injectors) and the transmissions if abused can be a weak link but can be a very robust unit. Other issues I’ve had where high idle (solved with cis overhaul and a small block off vacuum line by the idle valve) and they can eat pass side camshaft lobes due to oil starvation and failed cam oiler clips. But realistically they are quite reliable cars that where built well and aren’t as dependent on electrical equipment
Sorry my sentence was incomplete. I KNOW they are super tough/reliable since this is my second one one. While mine has a few LITTLE body issues (penny sized rust on sunroof and little bubbling by rear window but not through) I was wondering more about what is the worth compared to a regular 560sel since I have the rare limousine back seats. I did remove the SLS though in favor of h&r's and Bilstein. It's hard gauging the worth or what someone would pay. I saw years ago via Benz forum that the seats alone, with mounting hardware, could be worth 4k. Not selling just wondering. Sorry for the incomplete sentence. Was too tired when I typed it.
All Merc after the 123 are jun̈k.
None of the pictures match what your saying it’s soooo bizarre
The W111 coupe when talking about the 600 is bizarre, as its never mentioned. The others are close enough.
A couple are correct, but the ugly mauve W111 and short W100 when discussing the 600 Pullman were odd choices.
@ and the 16v 190e when he’s talking about 190D. Couldn’t be more opposite lol. This is like misinformation
When he’s talking about how he’d never want a 1975 W116 450, but would prefer a 73, the picture shows a 73.
Rabbi pierre say he would not own a 600 long wheelbase, 😂😂😂😂 , dude with all respect these cars were not made for people like you, sorry
You can't get Mercedes repaired at a shop that doesn't have a whole parking lot full of every make and model, cuz they don't have a draw pile to go borrow Parts off of to see what's wrong with yours to know what they need to order? And the steelership will replace every part inside until it exceeds the value of the car and it's totaled
