Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
Chelsea Wolfe is my Taylor Swift
I don't like how true this comment is
Is there ai Twitter pics of her getting tag teamed too?
So she makes bad music?
Chelsea Wolfe is not mid though
real. on a serious note, i genuinely think she 's the most important artist of her (and our, i assume) generation.
For the new fans of Chelsea Wolfe, please check out her older albums. She's a gem.
One of my favorite older songs of hers "The Warden".
Avoid Birth of Violence and Unknown Rooms
@@LastDigitOnMyScratchOffTicket Nah, also gems.
Also 'Vex'. probably her hardest tune tbh
You only gave this a 9 because she reached out to she reached out to she reached out to she
This is like the first of these jokes I've seen that's actually funny, good job
Chelsea Wolfe is really a god tier musician. I mostly listen to metal and hardcore rap so most of her stuff is not in my usual wheelhouse, but I am totally blown away by all her albums 👍

Just saw her in Toronto. For as soft spoken as she is, she's hands down the most powerful vocalists I've seen live. Absolutely haunting.
I was there too! Great show.
I am so unbelievably excited to see her in October 🎉🎉
cant believe he refused to rate this 10/10 bc the album title didnt repeat itself enough times
FIRST NINE OF THE YEAR BABY LETS GOOOOOO
so we're just gonna ignore the quadeca review yeaterday? lol
my bad this came in my notifications just now and assumed the review just dropped. youtube sucks lol
Just give her 10. You know you want to.
Place In The Sun is absolutely beautiful and I'm obsessed with it rn
trip hop and industrial? This is a must listen for me, do not let me down album!
It really won't!
@@zenithquasar9623 It didn't!
those 2 labels might deceive you a bit from what you re about to hear if you re going into this record expecting to hear only influences from those genres/styles but they re there. this is chelsea's most experimental record for sure, and although not the heaviest its still plenty heavy, at times at least, so "be warned" i guess :D
3:20 Me when the IRS asks what’s in my floorboards
That was well acted.
Don’t forget her wonderful duet with creative soulmate Emma Ruth Rundle.
Christ, Emma Ruth Rundle is amazing. Marked for Death is definitely a top 10 album for me.
Hey I remember her from that album she did with thou, that was great. I definitely need to listen to more of her stuff.
@@Volition366 there’s 2 with Thou now as well
@@Volition366 that collab with Thou is so sick, but Emma's solo stuff is perfect in its own right. "Marked for Death" and "On Dark Horses" are both incredible albums. Truly heartbreaking but beautiful

10/10 for me, and I'm a longtime Chelsea fan. Somehow she is still able to bring more layers, more meaning to her signature style. It's totally stands in accord with the title, this album is a travel inside of the fractal, it complicates to the inside in terms of musical composition but it becomes raw and true on the emotional / lyric level. I'm so happy I will see Chelsea performing live in June, bc most of the songs in this album have this unique gothic, haunting ambience which should sound great live. Overall - a masterpiece & on repeat since the release day
I will admit this isnt my usual genre, but I gave it a shot! And boy, the atmosphere was quite an experience.
Idk if it says a lot about my preference, but Place in the Sun stood out for me, esp with the way it closes out.
Few albums can feel like legit auditory experiences rather than just a collection of songs, and i'm proud to say to be part of this moment. I'll check out chelsea's other stuff.
Listen to Abyss, it does a similar thing with the atmosphere and has amazing production imo. Hope you enjoy
dive deeper her catalog is amazing no genre can describe C.W. she is her own genre 🤘
yeah i think you need to approach this album as programme music, which in turn means its not going to be her most accessible work especially because its also probably her most experimental record as well with a lot of variety and fluctuation in the genres that appear on it or influence each track etc.
if you re new to chelsea you just found what is probably the most important artist of her/our generation. apokalypsis and unknown rooms (2 of her early records) are more accessible/catchy and straight forward (still incredibly brilliant, love them both to bits, although granted, i dont think i ve disliked anything she's put out so far; self-admitted fanboy i guess) and you d probably enjoy them even more than you did this record on first listen at least.
Here’s another review!
As my first Chelsea Wolfe album I ever listened to I did not know what to expect. I heard it on a whim, as I typically do with most female artists nowadays that I eventually fall in love with. But damn, I was NOT expecting this album to take me on a gothic journey.
As someone who never had a goth phase but always watched from a far, the differences in music and aesthetics from what I’m used to made it almost intimidating to understand and be apart of.
To get the elephant out of the room, I liked 7 out of the 10 tracks from the album. Obvious favorites from the album include Tunnel-Lights, Place In The Sun, and Dusk as the standouts from the album as a whole.
I felt a very strong tug against my chest that I hadn’t felt in a while with other alternative albums I had been listening to before this record but goodness did it work. The lyricism and cadence of Ms Wolfe’s voice is something I thought only Ethel Cain could take advantage of. But Chelsea not only has been doing it for about the same time, but has perfected it to a tea in tandem with her astounding production choices for this record.
As the SECOND record I heard from this year, it very well may make my end year list… What I want now though is to truly understand her and deep dive into her discography. This may not even be my favorite record from her when I’m done. But we will see…
My Rating?: 8/10
omg you will love this ride she cannot be boxed into any genre ...enjoy🖤
I'm NOT a Chelsea Wolfe fan BUT i am really really impressed by this album. This is Album Of The Year material

Chelsea wolf with another gem for her already stunning discography
Love your Chelsea Wolfe reviews she’s criminally underrated.
Place in the Sun, is THE best track on this Album.
A 9 so early in the year? Good shit
its chelsea, its kind of expected. we know she s one of his favourite active artists and rightly so.
long overdue 9 for chelsea 😌
I discovered Chelsea watching your review of the album Pain is Beauty more than decade ago. That has always been my favorite one, till now.
After listening to the singles, I expected the album to leave me feeling indifferent, but I ended up loving it. I completely agree with you on the track "unseen world", it's incredible. On her social media, it seemed as if Chelsea Wolfe was going through a rough time in her life since the last album and I'm happy for her that she was able to return with such a strong album.
in my case, i expected the record to be more like the previous ones that were pretty much almost exclusively doom metal based on what i ve heard from singles or the stuff she put out on youtube with snippets from the album and what not (not against it, in fact i felt in the right headspace for a new record of the kind tbh) but its not just that. its so much more.
trip hoppy, bjorky, industrial-y, i like it
Me When Chelsea Wolf Me When Chelsea Wolf Me When
Great album. I love "House of Self-Undoing."
That drumbeat is so infectious. Love the vocal melody, too
I’m confused. I don’t think Kanye dropped anything by that name.
How you don't give ANY props to this album's sonic mastermind and visionary producer David Sitek is absolutely negligent beyond comprehension.
The Queen… has returned
Chelsea Wolfe is one of the few artists that can make a whisper sound as loud as a scream. It's such a wonderful album and it's a shame it's dropped so early in the year, otherwise I think it would be on album of the year lists come December.
People hyperfixating on the Kanye stuff while completely ignoring how Anthony is literally sharing amazing albums before and after the “unreviewable 1” video. I insist y’all check out these albums cause they’re so damn good
it's MBDTF all over again.
@@thelawsonman except there is very clearly a strong reason for why fantano gave that "review" compared to mbdtf just not meeting his standards
She’s so good. Didn’t even know this was coming out. Can’t wait to listen to this on the way to work tomorrow
CONVERGE PFP SPOTTED

Not as good as converge
Chelsea interview when?
Been a Chelsea fan since Fantano first turned me on to her with his Pain Is Beauty review. I agree that this is probably her best overall album.
Eyes like nightshade being the worst track is criminal, Anthony. I guess it's a good thing that a song that good could be considered the "worst" on an album, speaks a lot about the quality of the record
Exactly this. Eyes like nightshade is my least favourite track in this album and it is still a banger, so anyone can imagine how good the other songs are.
Fantastic mixture of trip hop atmosphere, industrial feel and bjork vibe. 10/10
I’m so happy to see Chelsea getting much love from the comments! She’s such a special and underrated artist that deserves so much more recognition!!! 🖤 This album was phenomenal and brought together all my favourite bits of music genres! It’s such a treat! 😊
seeing chelsea on here makes me so happy 😭 i listened to abyss back in 2016 and loved it and come back to it every now and then but never checked out her more recent stuff, definitely will now.
I saw her this weekend in Atlanta. She played a lot of these songs. Outstanding performance.
It’s my favorite since abyss but at times i do ask myself when does the song start. Lots of build up and this tension but little payoff. Still I really enjoyed it but felt like some extra beef would have gone a long way. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt a Reznor vibe
Hiss Spun is still her best album IMO, followed by Abyss and Apokalypsis. This one is good, but I'd still place it somewhere after Pain is Beauty
She is a wonder in the best way
So glad Chelsea Wolfe got Fantano's first 9/10 of 2024!
Another one?!?
yess! my thoughts exactly, her most gripping work since abyss (even though everything in between was also quality). great record.
9 is an impressive score. I will indeed give this a listen.
feeling like 2016 all over again

The ladies are GOING OFF this month my goodness, so many good releases already!
Chelsea Wolfe is awesome live.
i saw her live years ago in the UK while i was at Uni, with Russian Circles at the time.. the best show i ve ever been to hands down.. i had such a crush on her, it was a small venue in nottingham iirc but i didnt have the guts to talk to her or anything after the show, even though she was around and mingled with people.
Abyss was my favorite Chelsea Wolfe album before this one came out. Now I'm not so sure.
She´s a big Burzum fan Melon, treat her like one
Am I missing something or he missed talking about House of Self Undoing? It's crazy since it is one of the best songs in it as well. I'm really glad she and the whole band + Dave Sitek
I wish the album would have ended in Place in the Sun. Totally loving her triphop nin era, because she loves that music so she is finally making it her own. This crowns an impressive set of albums she has created. She is my favorite artist for sure
Yay! Wolfe always will deserve the praise!
Anthony, stop reviewing good albums just so you have an excuse to not do your laundry
I'm not a goth but I think this record is pretty neat 👍
never listened to chelsea wolfe before this, this was incredible, I've gotta check out the rest of her discography
I discovered her with ABYSS and it became instantly one of my favorite records. I was delightfully pleased with HISS SPUN, and I loved BLOOD MOON & Ms. PISS so I didn’t really got into BIRTH OF VIOLENCE. But damn this new record is good. Damn. It’s really really good. It’s like a better version of PAIN IS BEAUTY. It’s a little soon to tell if it’s gonna be my favorite record from her but right now I think it comes pretty close to ABYSS for me :)
Hells bells she still the best! Miss Piss still her goat band name tho...
😂😂😂 "self surgery" was awesome
Correct. Chelsea Wolfe supremacy
WOAH OKAY GONNA CHECK IT OUT NOW
You sold me dude. Excited to check this one out 🤘
Love the drums on house of self undoing. Definitely a highlight track.
I found it an intimate album with a comforting atmosphere, so far an album that I really liked this year besides the new one from Future Islands, she keeps getting better
I know this is still super early, but it's album of the year for me.
Even tho it’s way too early this shit is too good to really argue ngl
Wow i genuinely didnt expect that high of a score from you on this!
It’s her Trip-Hop album
She's one of my favourites. I like something from everything she puts out.
Hiss Spun and Abyss are also very different imho. Hiss Spun is more guitar/drums driven while Abyss is more noisy and ethereal.
(New album is great, Abyss is still my favourite tho, and among my favourite albums period)
Think I finally need to listen to her after being someone on my backlog for a long time, excited to try this tonight.
I really liked this album, after almost forgetting about Chelsea Wolfe ever since I heard Pain is Beauty. Some of her other work I found to be too oppressive for my taste, but this latest record was a lot more listener friendly while still keeping that dark atmosphere that suits her so well.
I love such a high standard so early into the year, incredible record
I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing her perform at the Fillmore in SF tomorrow night. :)
Melon if this was called To Reach A Butterfly you'd gave it a 10

I'm so happy that you reviewed this, and even more happy that you enjoyed it so much. I'm in love with this album. Chelsea's lyricism is amazing, and the gothic industrial soundscape of this record is fascinating. The variety between the tracks is great, too. Chelsea has proven yet again why she's one of the most inspiring musicians to me, she's a genius.
Whag are some good lyrics?
I don't usually enjoy industrial music all that much but this album was actually pretty enjoyable for me, I can see why you gave it a 9
I wouldn't call it industrial, even though it has some elements here and there
@@shacharh5470 probably why I enjoy it then 😅, still tho, definitely not the type of thing I'd usually enjoy

saw her with russian circles years ago in the UK in a tiny venue .. it still is the best show i ve ever been to. she s an angel.
For me, Eyes like nightshade is an attempt of noise music. Not inherently bad, still loving it, but yeah it's like a noise track.
Love Chelsea Wolfe and love this album; happy to see it receive a great score, and hopefully more people will discover this amazing artist as a result.
