  • Ashtanga Yoga, or the 8 limbs of Yoga, is a path that invites a practitioner to enter a journey of deep healing and transformation. The essential purpose of Yoga Sadhana is to free us from Duhhka, suffering, and grow as human beings. Unfortunately, what has remained in the world today, is a popular and limited identification of Yoga as physical or breathing exercises. It is either this or an idea that is an esoteric practice for those who wish to renounce this world and pursue an ascetic life. Then the question arises whether Yoga has something to offer us, regular householders, and the world we live in. What possibilities does it hold for the growth and evolution of the individual? How can it influence and guide us in creating a better world?
    In this talk, Apoorva Gupta Jalan, a long-term yoga student and teacher in the Krishnamacharya Yoga Tradition, will walk us through the journey of Ashtanga Yoga, its invitations and gifts. She will also take us through some simple, effective practices using breath, sound, and body to experience a moment of Yoga, i.e. a state where the mind is quiet and the heart is clear.
