We only had a day to spend there. Now I see what we missed. Thank you. It seems like every Italian building must have a beautiful and unique entry, no matter how humble or grand the contents. Lucca certainly has it's share.
Very nice place and beautiful scenery. Your walking tour in Lucca looks so impressive. I wanna go there someday. Big liked. Have a happy time my dear friend...👍👍
I love how you tell the history of Lucca as you walk by the bell towers, churches, city wall and other ancient structures. Great job pointing out highlights of past importance and current city life. It feels like you were my personal guide . Thanks.

Brava! Complimenti. Lucca is the land of my ancestors. I still have family there, wish I could see them more often. Would love to own a little flat there one day - I miss it. You're video made my day.
Thank you ! We lived in Lucca this spring for 1 month and loved it. I can watch this and it takes me back to the city I Love. We are planning on going back next fall for 2 months, counting the days till I see it again.
Thanks for sharing! Great to see another part of Italy. Sadly had to postpone my trip to the Naples area again. Unfortunately the Italian government has been slow to communicate, vaccinate, etc...
Most hit the Holy Trinity in Italy: Rome, Florence and Venice. But for the real deal with a strong local presence Lucca is my go to. The bike path outside the walls is great. Train service takes you right there. Why stand in line for hours just for an Instagram moment when the real deal is in Lucca?
No argument from me on that. Although Lucca is becoming more touristy as time goes on. I was there 30-ish years ago and it was a sleepy little town with hardly any tourists (in the week I was there I didn't hear any language other than Italian); now it's a lot different. But it's still well worth going to.
We stay in Lucca every year for few months. We are missing it due to pandemic. Hopefully to go back 2022. So weird to see not too many people walking or biking on the wall.
This was quite the trip down memory lane for me. I recognized a lot of places from when I was in Lucca in 2018 and 2019. Some of my cousins live inside the walled section so part of me was hoping to see some of them (I didn't, sad to say). But the tour did pass within a street or 2 from where they live. Mi mancate tutti.
Hey, glad to hear the video was able to bring back some memories. This was my first time in Lucca and was really impressed with it. You going back to visit your cousins again?
@@ProWalks I received dual citizenship at the end of last year so I'm hoping to move to Italy either this year or next year. Then I can visit them more often.
Enorme ciudad!!! Hermosas catedrales e iglesias.
It is the virtually empty streets that contributes to our satisfaction for having seen the program and having beeb there in person. This walking tour taken for what it is brings immense pleasure to us. Landscape in its abundance sparkles with beauty and design qualities not to be equalled. Need a reason to study Italian? Here it is. Urbanistica is the term to be utilized in coming to terms with it.
Thanks; how about next filming some stunning lakeside walks or rides? Can be tricky due to views blocked by tunnels, etc. but try Garda to Bardolino to Lazise. Maybe fly a drone WHILE you ferry thru narrow scenery of Lake Como or Maggiore?
Che bella passeggiata, Isaac! Grazie mile !! Buona fortuna !
You can make your own list of places to visit. Excursions to numerous places are suggested. Four villas for sure should occupy your time and stimulate your curiosity. Museums are there. Our favorite Italian word is "Pinacoteca". Take a length visit of Citta Vecchia and several churches. Most vital for our understanding was a voyage to the near by vicinity. Taking notes is essential.
44.02 The circular engraving on the left represents the labyrinth of Daedalus. Next to it the Latin inscription (HIC QUEM CRETICUS EDIT DEDALUS EST - LABERINT - HUS DE Q(U)O NULLU - S VADER - E QUIVIT - QUI FUIT - INTUS - NI THESE US - GRAT - IS ADRIAN - E STAMIN - E IUTU) means: This is the labyrinth that the Cretan Daedalus built from which no one who remained inside could get out except Theseus helped for his graces by Ariadne's thread. Ciao dalla splendida Italia.
Janet Mwangi Italy is all mountains and hills, there is no region where doesn't snow (even in Sicily and not only on mount Etna), somewhere are meters, in other centimeters; depends on the season and the altitude.
Just finished watching the tour of Lucca! It’s just beautiful! I do have a question however...what do people do in case of a medical emergency? I saw no clinics or any sign for a hospital. What do they do for medical assistance in these towns and villages? Thanks!
Necessary second visits are readily plentiful here without asking for another reservation or a letter from the local councilman. Pre-determined strategies for exploring are not told to you. Doing this without being connected with an organized tour makes this experience so much better for you.
Quantities of happiness and satisfaction from traveling to Lucca are worth talking about if only to recruit others to take time to watch and review and study this program that does deserve praise. Reading assignments should be outlined in a bibliography. References should begin there.
Look at Lucca with the help of pictures found in your library and watch this travel report fourteen times. Curiosity has no limits when energy is concentrated to exploring this part of Italy. Speaking with people knowledgeable about so much that is essential about the Renaissance is necessary.
Just one more comment. Has there ever been a more moving piece than "Nessun Dorma" Put me at any piazza in Lucca and I would be content. Thanks again. See you Lucca, Pistoia and Pisa this winter.
So many categories of relevant knowledge can be covered here for beginning level or introductory investigations into Renaissance Italy. Putting your marbles in this basket is more than an advantage. The intellectual finish line is the same as the starting line without any obligation to remain in the same lane. Among the cities with noteworthy walls as fortresses Lucca gets a prize.
Which places deserve a visit as much as Kyoto or Nambia or Rwanda or Yellowstone or Victoria Falls? Consider adding Lucca to that list and revise it periodically. This is not Italy taken from a vending machine. Visiting Lucca is not in the same category of travel as rush hour traffic to Amsterdam or perilous fast moving traffic on the highways leading to a week end in Finland.
We are very excited and really like your creative ideas, made it enjoyable to watch and keep watching, hope you continue this great idea forever.
