- Napa Auto Parts $100 8x8 overland style awning Not a normal video for my channel but it should be. Need to get a little better at making this style video. I may have over shared but I also want to make sure you see all of the product and installing. That way if you have never touched a vehicle awning like myself you can see you are not alone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just builds without reading directions well done lol
Haha what are directions!!! 😂
I just bought a 4Runner with this already installed - this video is great for a newbie! I wasn’t sure what I was getting into.
Love the diy every day kinda person review. I don't need a name I need a good review. Good job on your video.
Thank you!
Hell yeah dude I just purchased two of them. Nice to see you not edit the video to make it look easier.
Thanks for checking it out! You’ll love it!
Getting ready to install mine on our short bus camper build. This is great. Thanks for this. Entertained and informed
Sweet!!! Thanks and good luck!
Love the realistic tutorial! Had me cracking up. Thank you for sharing!
Haha thanks for watching!
Very genuine, 100% original, no BS!✔️✔️✔️
Thanks man!
I’ve been eyeing one of these for my CRV for a few months. Might have to jump on it come payday
I think youll enjoy it!
You totally made me crack up with your Antics😂🤣😅
😂😂😂
100% subscribed! You're a cool dude! Funny and realistic! Thanks for showing us the good and bad! Awesome! 💯
Thanks!
I ordered one last night for my over landing trailer, I am excited.
Sweet! I’ve thought about another for my kayak trailer build.
Cool. I saw the houses around there and thought, that looks like Utah...
Haha you’d be right!
That was neat and looking for a longer one to cover my whole side of my van, front to back.
Good luck! I haven’t looked but a longer one would be sweet for a van!
thanks , u made my day . Here S E Texas start around 6 am til 10 am to get anything done on my E350 . Lose shade after that until 5pm. Given the cost (S.S. doesn't cover many things) i'll b ordering one soon .
Good luck man! It’s hot this year!
Great share. I have a hunch the NAPA version is the same as others selling up to $250, but I haven't verified that. NAPA has these on sale for $99 from $139, could by 2 for the price of 1 from other sources. Also good is that it is coming o'nite to my local NAPA store, no shipping fees, just the Gov Hochul tax.
Nice!!! And I agree.
Bubba, I gave ya a thumbs-up not for yer technical ex-spurt-teez, but because you you had me laughin so hard putting the dang thing up that I almost pissed myself...good job!🤣
😂😂😂
Awesome, deff ordering one…and wont feel bad breaking it if it gets snagged on some branches when offroading
Right!
I looked exactly the same putting mine up for the first time
Haha. I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Thanks for the info. I have a van with a 14ft roof rack. I'd like to find one of these about 12ft long. I'll probably have to make my own out of a regular tarp, but this is giving me ideas, thank-you.
No problem good luck on building one!!
just picked one up for my back country fishing rig too!
Heck ya!!!
Loved it , real video.Awesome
I found this video by watching your neighbor's UA-cam channel where he films you setting up new equipment 😂 J/k, thx for the video!
Haha!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true.
Nice video!! We plan to get one also. Thank for sharing.
Thanks for watching. Hope you love it!
Solid install video
Thanks!
Got one for my truck as well, love it.
Sweet!!
Very helpful video. Thank you so much.
Thanks for checking it out!
Like a comedy routine.🤣😂🤣
😂😂😂
Thanks brother 👍
Best..... Video..... EVER!!!
Haha thanks!
I have one. There is a flaw in this thing. Those cross poles attach to the front by inserting the pointy end into holes on the front bracket. Problem is, when staking this thing out the front part pulls out and the poles will danggle. I'm working on a way to keep those pins in; maybe drill a tiny hole and putting a small cotter pin in them.
P.S. I always have wind and need to stake it down always.
Good info and idea! I staked mine down for the first time last weekend with the wind and rain. I didn’t have an issue of pulling out but I staked straight down. It did move a little in the wind and I probably should have takes out farther. The stakes and cording for stakes is not the best. I’m going to get some better stakes and paracord. Still impressed for $100 though!
@@ShootFishLife Ha Ha. Right after I posted my comment, I went out and followed my own advice. Drilled a small hole in each "point", bought 2 tiny cotter pins from home depot and viola. I stake out my awning really tight for that occasional gust. And yes, impressive for $100.
Nice review seen this at Napa today thinking about getting it a try
I think you’ll love it!
They’re back in stock now
Awesome!
Fun video! If you don't mind, what is the vertical distance between the mounting bolts (on center)? Thanks.
On the back of the awning bag there is a track to mount to the bracket it comes with or bolt to whatever. Horizontally those bolts can be anywhere and the bolt and top or bottom do not have to line up at all. If you did line the bolts up vertically the distance from center to center is about 1 3/4 (there is some minor play)
Good thing it is durable!😂😂😂
I looked exactly like you
😂
Thinking about going with one of these, how has it held up? Has it destroyed itself yet?
Shows it on an Xterra! I’ll be buying it!!!
Hope you like it!
Brother this video was awesome! That's me putting shit together on the fly 😆. I almost spent big money on others but wanna try this. You think I can mount to my trucks roof racks? The don't have side rails only the 2 verticals
Still running this and it’s awesome. The only reason I would go with a big name at this point is for a 270 that you don’t have to put the poles down. It comes with braces to mount on your horizontal rails. That’s the brackets I used for a hole guide. (And drilled the wrong holes haha)
@@ShootFishLife which is the 270?
270 covers a little more of the side of the truck and the back as well. Look up OVS 270. If I ever upgrade I’ll probably get the big one of those. But for now this Napa one is awesome.
@@ShootFishLife perfect. Thanks bro I'll look into that. Look forward to more content!
How is the awning cover handle the wind going down the highway, any noise? Thanks
Yes there is some noise. I wouldn’t say a lot but that may depend on where it’s mounted and vehicle aerodynamics.
Great idea.
Thanks!
Any current updates on how it's holding up? I've been looking at one for a while but haven't seen many updates about how it's held up. I do alot of overlanding in Colorado need something thatll hold up. Not willing to spend 400+ on a decent awning if this one performs how it should
So far so good. I have used it around 5 times now. While I would not consider that long term, it seems it will be good. In my PT. 1 video of fishing with my kid we had it up all night and in the rain.
It’s been 2 years how did it hold up to time and use?
It was good. Only issue I had was I didn’t tie it down and the wind picked up and threw it over my truck. Was able to fix the one metal rod and bent. I now have a overland vehicle systems 270. But the this one was still being used when I sold it.
Awesome! 👍
Thanks buddy!
😂 😂😂👍👍👍 LMAO for the day & subbed.
Haha thanks!
Been thinking about an awning thanks for sharing.
I think you’ll love it!
Does it have the ability to b a tent like the ARB version
From what I understand yes. But have not confirmed.
I already looked at mine and saw they didn’t line up. You installed it wrong. Measure twice and cut once.

Hi! Hows the wind fairing? Any noise issues when driving?
Seemed good in the wind when I had it tied down. Also I don’t notice much more road noise.
Wonder if one of the other brand add a rooms will work with this?
Glancing at the smittybuilt room on 4wheel parts. It appears it would work. But I’ve never messed with them.
ua-cam.com/video/eoBcz-Bl7MA/v-deo.html it will work with the arb annex
Get some misters and stay cool
That’s a good idea!!
Hello tks 4 the vid....question. I have a box truck. Can I attach this to the truck..???
I don’t see why not. On a box truck I would just drill it into the side and make sure to use sealant around the holes and bolts.
@@ShootFishLife thanks for getting back...was about to order..found out local pickup only. Thanks anyways
Thanks for the info and for getting back!
😄
any idea which arb annex room would attach to it? is it the 2000x2500 or 2500x2500? thx
I am not sure sorry.
@@ShootFishLife no worries, thank u
Measure twice, cut once.
Ya. Or read the instructions haha
Haha watch this “hole” video!
😂😂😂
Thanks for looking like a goofball so I don't have to bud.
Haha. No problem
for 150...I can use a tarp fo 1.50.
