@stryfetc1 what are you talking about? Tony showed concern for Carmela. And what a coincidence, for the leg too. Remember the scene, when AJ got back home after partying in N.Y. and Carmela hit her knee, while chasing him upstairs. The moment Tony entered the house, first thing he did, was asking what happened to her leg (she was having ice on it).
"Who ate the last piece of cake!?!?", for some reason that line always makes me laugh- considering this comes shortly after a horrific rape scene and Tony's having a first world problem.
I love how seriously concerned he was about her knee and specifically her knee. The way he says "her knee??" He was so concerned that he almost sounded sarcastic lol
I'm not saying it's the pivotal moment of the show, but I think it serves to show that Tony deep down has a lot of capacity for compassion -- manifested here in a mother figure that Melfi acts as a therapist (I think she actually says this herself) . Tony is turned into a monster by horrific parenting and upbringing. The fact he still shows shreds of morality/compassion as an adult is actually remarkable (compared to say Janice, who is thoroughly evil).
Woken up this morning, I wanted a piece of cake or even some gabagool for breakfast. I compromised; I took a stalk of celery instead. I wanted to see my therapist again. I compromised; I had to take the quiz with my wife instead. You see where I'm going?
Tony was worried about Dr. Milfy getting "arthritis"? Yeah, right. Carmela saw right through him. Dr. Milfy's best assets are her legs, and Tony was worried that Dr. Milfy's sexy legs would now have an ugly scar.
Carmela consistently shows her wedding ring & even flaunts it a bit around 1:26 & looks aesthetically pleasing in this scene. Symbolizing the tension between Tony’s relationship with his therapist vs. his wife
The subtle shift in Carmela's facial expression when Tony invites her to therapy, from resentment of his concern over Melfi to hopefulness & gratitude about being included in this space she was previously shut out of, is amazing
Carmella is a gross human. Any chance she gets to influence or power trip on others, she’ll take it. To give her pathetic life some meaning. The unhappy, scumbag gangster mole portrayal is brilliant
@@1800aubreyNo, if you watched the whole show, you would know that Carmela harbors deep jealousy towards Dr. Melfi for her ability to help Tony on a psychological/emotional level, whereas she could stand the goomars because they were only physical. So, it makes sense she would be annoyed at his visible concern for Dr. Melfi; then soften when she is invited. Carmela’s emotions are very surface level and nearly childlike from all of the years of Tony showering her with gifts.
@@1800aubrey Actually, one of the points of this show is reading into each character’s actions to understand their complex personalities. This is one of the best arcs in the entire series.
