Lowkey i dont care about it being thin. I feel like it would just cause more risks of snapping (seeing as the past ipads snapped like twigs) and it takes away space for more new features. Would rather have more worthy improvements (like that screen 👌) and obviously be more affordable
I would have preferred same thickness & get closer to the 20 hour battery life Macs have. Supposed to be a "laptop replacement" with 10 hours of battery life. Sounds like an android or PC.

@@Don-h4d not everyone buys it for work and ipad OS is not quite designed to make use of all the M4 chip's power. It's just another way of milking more money from people by selling small increments at high prices. The prices for ram and storage are just unjustified.
Am I blind here or did he say they crushed it design wise? The design looks exactly the same as all the past models. They kept the same borders, made it thinner instead of just adding more battery and be on par with the MacBook battery life. They still have the software heavily limited. I bet you they removed certain components from past models because they’re trying to save themselves especially knowing that iPads have gone down on prices cause no one is upgrading like that. I’m keeping my Air 5 for as long possible and using my MacBook Air m1 for anything else I might need it for. Disappointed is an understatement this time around.

You’re probably better off getting an older M1 iPad Pro. My daily driver is the 4th Gen with the A12Z and the only thing i kind of wish I had was the hover feature with the Apple Pencil. And those are running around $600
I’ve never bought a low end model of ANY product ever and didn’t regret it. Always buy the higher end model, or buy used/old higher end. M1/m2 iPad Pro way better than the new air, even cheaper too. Low end models are made for normies who don’t understand value. Never ever buy a low end model, it’s lacking.
If you just compare pricing the 1TB 13 inch Air comes in at the base price of the 13 inch pro iPad which leads me to believe the bigger version of the air will sell better overtime but who knows
Please feel free to attempt to prove me wrong. But every test of mmWave I’ve seen requires you to be ridiculously close to the tower with unreasonably low interference to get those great speeds. So saving the money on a mmWave chip you’ll rarely use and getting a much better screen and CPU seems quite reasonable to me.
If Im spending $2,500+ on an iPad I should get 1 gig speeds if Im right next to the tower. There should not have been any corners cut on a $2,500 iPad.
@@HeyItsHades I’ve been a product management guy for more than a few products and more than a few years. I can absolutely guarantee you that more people would get annoyed at having a feature they can barely use than would want it generating heat, consuming battery life, and adding other types of cost (such as the very significant added support cost of a feature that only occasionally provides the benefit that customers expect and believe they have paid for) than would insist on having it. That doesn’t make your preference any less valid. There are always power users - or those who perceive themselves as such - who want every last possible bleeding edge feature. And may even be able to justify their personal preference with a business case. In my experience, that type of power user gravitates to non-Apple platforms that give them their desired degree of customizability.

Although, you cannot use the 2nd gen Apple Pencil, but you can still use the Apple Pencil USB-C. I know this would not be a solution for many, but for those taking notes only, that would be perfectly fine.
If you backtrack the Apple U2 chip, it's only 2 device what used that, and guess what, that is the chip what measure the distance/angle etc.. so devices with U1 chip can't give the same precision like the U2 chip.. or do you think it's fine if the result appear 10cm away, just because it's less accurate..?
Information previously posted was a lie about the M4 cores only running at 3.93Ghz. It's been confirmed today they are running at 4.40Ghz so 350Mhz faster than M3.
You think these are expensive, I'm partially sighted and was hoping Apple would do more with it's accessibility features & camera. The removal of the wide angle lens kills any chance of using an ipad. Now I have to spend 1800 dollars on a digital magnifier.
Is the term “Pro” marketing or is it the intended use? For those who would pay upwards over $3,000 for a Pro, some would also have internet service beyond 1Gbps. I would think someone with 5 or even 10Gbps service is asking themselves…and Apple, “Where’s WiFi7?”
It is marketing to justify higher price points. Remember at one time iPhones used to cost $650. Then they released iPhone pro and priced it $999. Nothing pro about it. Next year or in two years you will see foldable iPhone ultra at $1499. Apple is all about maximizing selling price and nothing else.
I went for the 1TB iPad it's amazing - went with the non textured screen as textured dull the colours of the display. Very happy with it. Got the apple pencil pro too
The new Magic Keyboard now working with the new iPad Air actually makes sense. They redesigned the new one based on how thin the new pros are. So there would probably be a closing issue with a thicker iPad Air…
iPad 13inch Pro 256mb in Australia costs us $2200.00 for wifi only. Cellular & wifi, 256mb $2600.00. Magic Keyboard $579.00. If you buy through your phone company you will pay over $3000.00 on a 36mth plan.
Why is Apple taking so many baby steps behind the competition??? 8gB of ram? Removing a camera? Removing a microphone? Again… having to buy a compatible pencil? Still!… No MagSafe? Slower 5G?
I never saw anybody to use the tablet as main camera.. so one less lens is nothing until the main lens remain good enough.. 8GB is just the basic, you can get more if you want.. nobody force you to buy thr cheapest one.. you have chance to choose which one you prefer.. (just remember the RAM is not like a storage, you can't turn off, you continously need to support with power even in idle/standby mode to keep the content there, even just 1 sec without power conpletly wipe the memory.. and doubling it also doubling the power consumption, so you can decide which one is more important for you.. like 10-30mins longer battery, or more RAM for example)
They seem fixated with making the device as thin as possible so that’s probably why they removed those items, anyway I’m not complaining as the arrival of a new model meant I picked up a M2 iPad it a discount if I had bought that out of the gate I wouldn’t have been able to nearly max the specs out 1Gb Cellular version big improvement over my 2017 iPad Pro
I have almost all apple products and was ready to buy a iPad Pro replacement today. However after seeing the squeeze for more cash following this latest release, I have to question whether I will buy apple again?
Apples ignoring what their customers really want in new generation products. At this point the pros should have an even higher refresh rate screen and the airs should be at 120hz.
@@NickdeBey I’m talking more about the airs. And lumping the pros into that conversation knowing Apple would never have the screen refresh rates the same.

Great review. Let me ask you: did you say the speed on iPad Pro M4 is slower compared to iPad Pro M2? I am not good with all the technologies. I currently own the IPAD PRO M2 yr 2022. I wonder if it’s worth the upgrade. I am an artist that makes me look into M4. Newest iPad Pro might be the brightest. Putting paper like screen can also ruin the nib of the pencil and will scratch the paperlike screen, isn’t it? . Appreciate a response. Thank you.
Unless you are held back by the speed of your current iPad, I can't understand the upgrade cost. Doubt you'll notice much of a speed increase. The pencil upgrades seem like the most artistic related features worth paying for. Speed wouldn't be it. I would also worry about constantly using the pencil on a matte screen. It has to age, especially if they are shipping a special cleaning cloth with it.
That ad campaign graphic (PRO graphic) is so ugly and not it. If anything, it may have made sense if they ever released a curved or bendable Ipad. But still ugly.
Yeah Apple usually has some nice images to show off their devices in ads. Maybe this one pops on the hardware )it probably does look good in person on a bright OLED, but it doesn't really do it when viewing it on other devices. I used to like the super colorful ad graphics with paint, chalk powder, etc... those were cool.
I'm intrigued with the camera layout of the Pro. Is it a last minute they have decided to remove the ultrawide camera and put the LiDar sensor there, and what's the random black spot there? Not so Apple move. Note that the upcoming iPhone series will return the horizontal camera layout for the iPhone to be able to capture videos for the VisionPro but not on the latest iPad?
They removed some features because of a few reasons The 5th mic: bc of the new landscape camera The ultra wide: bc not many people used it The mystery dot is an ambient light sensor for document scanning The Apple Pencil actually does have a different charging method on the side instead of the middle bc of the new landscape camera
Tbh… I’m excited for the 13” iPad Pro. But for what I use it for I think this is a great update especially the display! Not more blooming background in blacks (I hope) and lighter.
The nano textured screen is actually a very niche solution and could be easily replaced by a screen protector. It simply makes your screen worse in all aspects except for reducing the glare. Doesn't help artists, people report there's no difference using Apple Pencil. Besides, it is probably super easy to damage it with a stylus.
Removing the mmWave 5G makes sense to me it sucks so much power and it’s only really rolled out in the US so for the iPhone it makes sense to do a separate sku but for the iPad it was probably too much cost to make one version for the US and one for the rest of the world with how many 5G iPads they predict to sell.
The full Mac keyboard on an ipad case indicates to me that the higher end ipad pros with the faster processor and extra ram will be used to support a dual boot mode when docked. Native ipadOS, then manual boot into MacOS.
Ipads are ipads. If youre not a student or artist or niche of content creators that prefers ipad workflows over mac os--then youre not the intended "pro user". Ipad (pros) are already well tuned machines for the clients and workbase that apple intends. Anyone "complaining" or wanting more from it need to realize we are asking for a triangle in a square peg. It doesnt seem like apple will ever shift it into the machine we envision it as. Wwdc _could_ change this, but i doubt that. Weve said it time and time again and im over believing such a thing is possible. I own an ipad, and while i do have specific ipad things that i use it for, i just live knowing it will never be my daily machine or go to device, despite how capable it could be.

I have a 12.9" M2 iPad Pro laptop (aka with apple keyboard and advertised as laptop replacement so judged as a laptop), and there is NOTHING that I can use that power for. Mails are really slow, browser are NOT fully functional, no fully functional office suite, virtualization that will allow you alternative to their fuck-ups is not allowed (you need workarounds for that to work), even their music app is worse on their tablet then on android, not to mention that music sound worse from their iPad then an android phone, so please let me ask 1 simple question: Since I am prevented to use full M2 capability by their software, what use is an increase in computing power with the same limitation?
Apple really has this Nickel and Dime strategy down to an art with the "Add Ons" M4 or M4+... more Cores... more Ram, Nano Glass etc... I guess it's nice to have all the options for those wanting an IPP with the Kitchen Sink. But for most the M4 is probably overkill on a tablet anyway

The new Pros are thinner but the Pencil is the same thickness so it will have less iPad to stick to meaning it'll probably feel less secure.
@4:33 What makes you think “the charging and syncing mechanism is the exact same”?
Sure, on the surface level they are functionally the same, it seems highly likely they rearranged the magnets and coils to get around the camera.

Exactly! That is the tablet i want! Smasung has a bigger more prenium pad in the S9 ultra. So no need for a pro. The pencil? It still needs a battery and is sold separate. Terrible all around.
Heard somebody said in another video that they could release it as a fall release. Since it uses the A line of chips and not an M device like the air and pro
So so sad!
It’ll probably have the A16 if they update the iPad mini
I didn't like how thin my M2 ipad pro was, besides its battery life was terrible. Luckily i found someone on Facebook marketplace who traded me an M2 Macbook Air for it.
I think ima keep using my m1 iPad Pro for another 2 years

im most definitely keepin my m1 ipad for at least 5 years.

M1 , 11 inch king here as well
I am also an happy owner of the M1 ipad pro 11" and i am also an Hobby artist but i would never pay more than a thousand just to be able to use a new stylus. I was already so disappointed by the software after the m1 announcement and the expectations were high as hell but they didn't deliver. I still enjoy to draw on it and it's grait for even a decade if they don't adjust the os.
Why would the iPad pad pro not have the cameras to make stereo video for the Apple Vision Pro?
Exactly
because NO ONE is using an Ipad to film their daughters graduation 🤣
How about keeping the same thickness of an iPad to accommodate a larger battery?

Lowkey i dont care about it being thin. I feel like it would just cause more risks of snapping (seeing as the past ipads snapped like twigs) and it takes away space for more new features. Would rather have more worthy improvements (like that screen 👌) and obviously be more affordable
I would have preferred same thickness & get closer to the 20 hour battery life Macs have. Supposed to be a "laptop replacement" with 10 hours of battery life. Sounds like an android or PC.
So a MacBook isn’t a PC?

You're definitely right about iPads for sure. They're weirder than ever! For that I'm for Android alternatives.
The iPad Pro is not worth it. I was going to buy one but now I and getting the 13” Air. Very disappointed with this update.
Thinking the same now. Was really looking to upgrading my iPad
Pro but not sure it’s worth it with a 13” Air available.
I me I can trade my m2 11’ iPad for base m4 11’ for $529
If you just compare pricing the 1TB 13 inch Air comes in at the base price of the 13 inch pro iPad which leads me to believe the bigger version of the air will sell better overtime but who knows
I have the iPad Pro 11” should I upgrade or no.
Facts!
I just keep waiting and waiting to buy an Apple product. Been waiting weeks for this event to get an Ipad. All I can saw is no way in hell am I paying these ridiculous prices. I have the money, but on principal I'm not paying it. These companies are smoking some serious stuff.

Or get the iPad Air which has many of the features from previous Pro models.
Haha…I agree to that statement…the software is not up to par with the hardware capabilities
i think if apple let ipad os run macos apps, which would be totally possible - a large amount of users would switch.
or give the option to install to the users... same processor...
Yes!
That wouldnt work for old users
Then Mac sales will go down..
@@LiveAerosmith Yes, but not the same input. You can't use MacOS on a purely touch based device. Most UX elements are too small on a mac to be useful. And when you start scaling them, you'll end up with the same UI as the iPad already has. Honestly being able to run mac apps on iPadOS would be a cool middleground.
going to enjoy myself seeing people return the 13 inch ipad pros after paying 1600 and bending on day 1... my mini led ipad pro is a tank compared to this
Apple pencil not backward compatible , that is Apple marketing for you
It uses a very different technology
@@philipperobin7515 a 10 year old technology
@GHOSTSTARSCREAMthe magnets for charging were changed so it won't work on the older version. The magnets were moved because of the camera so old version can't use it
Although, you cannot use the 2nd gen Apple Pencil, but you can still use the Apple Pencil USB-C.
Pro got thinner so that's probably the cons
Slower 5G?
The no MagSafe hurt. It would have been transformational and I was all for it.
this is how the ipad mini 6 turned out.. a total disappointment when it has so much potential.
Baby steps? What competition?
Just ordered the 256gb did not see I would be throttled to 8gbs of the 16 without 1 tb, why would they not make they clear?????

I have almost all apple products and was ready to buy a iPad Pro replacement today. However after seeing the squeeze for more cash following this latest release, I have to question whether I will buy apple again?
Same here, Apple is driving me to other competitors.
Apples ignoring what their customers really want in new generation products. At this point the pros should have an even higher refresh rate screen and the airs should be at 120hz.
Finishing returns and costs. The tandom OLED screen is already an extremely expensive component. A higher spec higher refresh rate?! Yeah right.
Nop. 120hz on a tablet would just burn your battery
@@NickdeBey I’m talking more about the airs. And lumping the pros into that conversation knowing Apple would never have the screen refresh rates the same.

Been using a real pencil for 25 years where the eraser is on the other end. Been using an Apple Pencil for about 4 years. I want to turn it around and erase. The fact that's not an option is so dumb to me.
@@HeyItsHades the Apple Pencil is not modeled after a real pencil, the Apple Pencil is modeled based on already preexisting digital pencils in the market from companies like Wacom or XP-Pen, none of those pencils have an eraser because is unnecessary and also difficult to implement onto different applications that artists may use

It seems like with the addition of the 13 inch air, it makes no sense to get the pro’s unless 1. You have the money or 2. You NEED the promotion display. But even with number 2, just get an M2 iPad Pro and you’ll still be ok
The 8GB of RAM really is an insult in 2024.
Right, at least replace 8gb of ram by 12gb of ram for the 256gb and 512gb models.

They removed some features because of a few reasons
The 5th mic: bc of the new landscape camera
The ultra wide: bc not many people used it
The mystery dot is an ambient light sensor for document scanning
The Apple Pencil actually does have a different charging method on the side instead of the middle bc of the new landscape camera
Tbh… I’m excited for the 13” iPad Pro. But for what I use it for I think this is a great update especially the display! Not more blooming background in blacks (I hope) and lighter.
Definitely inky blacks better colors and more nits and thinner with worlds fastest mobile chip best IPad update since IPad released👌.
For some reason the antenna line looks a tad ugly to me this time. I wonder why I notice it that much
The nano textured screen is actually a very niche solution and could be easily replaced by a screen protector.
It simply makes your screen worse in all aspects except for reducing the glare. Doesn't help artists, people report there's no difference using Apple Pencil.
Besides, it is probably super easy to damage it with a stylus.
There was nothing wrong with the thickness. The price is crazy
I ordered one-I lost my mind-and the price was crazy: over 2K. I was going to wait, but I did it.

Mails are really slow, browser are NOT fully functional, no fully functional office suite, virtualization that will allow you alternative to their fuck-ups is not allowed (you need workarounds for that to work), even their music app is worse on their tablet then on android, not to mention that music sound worse from their iPad then an android phone, so please let me ask 1 simple question:
Since I am prevented to use full M2 capability by their software, what use is an increase in computing power with the same limitation?

Why doesn't the Gen 2 pencil work on any of the new iPads?
Apple really has this Nickel and Dime strategy down to an art with the "Add Ons" M4 or M4+... more Cores... more Ram, Nano Glass etc...
I guess it's nice to have all the options for those wanting an IPP with the Kitchen Sink. But for most the M4 is probably overkill on a tablet anyway
