I didn't think I liked the yellowed hands and indices at first because I don't really care for the pre-aged "fauxtina" look but the more I see this model the more they're growing on me on this particular one. Instead of fake aging it looks more like a warm incandescent glow of uncharged luminescence. It also contrasts better with the minute and 24hr markers and makes the dial look more dynamic.
I've seen it at the Seiko AD in Philippines. I like it, but not enough to purchase my 4th Seiko. All my 3 Seikos accuracy are in double digits. I at some point will spend money to have the movement regulated. Field watches are the only watch category I like and Hamilton is my preferred brand.
Bravo, I like your reviews as well! And I believe you're the first to review the SBSA201/SRPJ85 36mm field watch that was just released. I just bought the SBSA199/SRPJ83 earlier this AM from SeiyaJapan and I'm really looking forward to getting it in a few weeks' time. It's a great sized watch for all kinds of wrists, and it's got the classic field dial layout. Thanks very much for putting this video out so quickly! I look forward to watching your other videos.
I agree, Seiko has done a good job of listening to their customers and have marketed a smaller-cased watch for fans of the original military watches that were all in the mid-30mm. Even though the pricing is >2x more than the SNK80x series of watches with the 7S26 movement, what I’ve seen of this release that has really elevated this watch is: 1) 36mm case size. 2) Hacks and hand winds. 3) the side of the case between the lug tips is now sand blasted to match the rest of the case. 4) the lug tips are drilled to make it easier for strap changes, and 5) the WR has gone up to 10 bar, which is what you would expect of a field watch. I will say that one thing that continues to bother me about Seiko’s field watches is that, even though the 12 o’ clock has a triangle for orientation, the lume is still only a dot, just like the other hour positions. Even two dots would have been helpful. Thanks again for your thorough review!
@@nplus1watches35 yes i totally agree, maybe because even some of quartz military watches of seiko the Arabic numerals are lumed. The little dots a bit of disappointed.
Hi There, Great review! Thank you for uploading. Can the Japan version show the Day in English or is it Japanese only? To my knowledge the movement in the Calibre 4R36 has two language day wheel inside. Thank you.
To me this watch looks way better on 36mm. And maybe its the first 36mm seiko 5 ? I dont know. The vintage size made it looks like a legit field watch. I think a vintage style acrylic crystal would be better. But over all its a perfect field watch for the price.
I agree!Im happy that they finally made this 36mm version. For me ,the 39.5mm version is a little bit odd especially lug to lug stopped me from getting one. The design is what I wanted for a military watch.;)
@@bonyhardian7 Yup, but for a field watch, SRPJ looks much more legit to me. With dial details that are also better than SNK. I have both and i believe SNK have 37mm diameter. Although SRPJ is better in terms of detail and movement.
Just received mine and gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. The watch itself looks even better in real, but somehow Seiko always mess up the date. I had an old skx013 (7s26 movement) and the day was misaligned. There we go again, I opened the box and immediately saw it. Day misalignment again. Honestly, almost 300€ for this level of QC, + hardlex crystal.. that's a no.
Hi, good review. I like this watch even in the 39mm model, and plan to buy it later this year - I hope.. I see that yours says 'Made in Japan'. But I wonder if it will be released in other countries, especially in Asia, soon?
This watch is way over-priced. I have my SNK809 and it cost me £50 (four years ago). If this is made to replace that, the price shouldn't be so many times over!😮
This Seiko watch: a-Delay 1 minute a day. b-Luminescence failure: the 12 HRS mark is not differentiated, at night all the fluorescent marks look the same. c-Very thick watch for small wrists (12-13cm). d-The watch is 15'40mm thick (the strap goes behind the watch). e- The convex glass (retro) makes it lose visibility due to the multiple brightnesses.
Really nice watch
Just picked up a SRPJ81....without a doubt,my new favourite

What is the dial diameter of this watch? Is 28.5mm ?
How long does the lume last with a good charge? All night?
Wish they just made a 38mm unsteady of 36.5 and 39.5.
Great watch! I ordered these for myself!

Does anyone know the part number on that 18mm strap? Thanks 😊

Seiko needs to get rid of the jacked up 5 logo and lose the white outline around day date window.
It's way better with the white outline, looks way more define and clean 👌
I don't know, it looks good to me
@@ulo it does look really good, I’m just a bit pedantic at times… 👍

Actually, I agree with you. My complaint is Accuracy is not as good as i expected.
The band is stupid cannot see the case back. I own one and changed it out.

I got the larger version just a couple of months before they announced the smaller version, which I think suits me better 🥲
The design is almost same, the size should be no problem for most people. It's just this smaller version for people who love small watches.
@@MILITAWATCH Yes, and for thin wrists too :) Mine is 6.5 inches.
That's the problem with Seiko, they release so many great watches all the time that you never know when it's the right time to buy one..😁
