Oh cute: livestock on walkabout. What do I know the Earl of Shrewsbury for other than helping put Hanoverians on the throne after the Glorious Revolution? Somehow I think it's something funny or odd from literature or a Monty Python sketch maybe. More pennants across the roadway of a commercial street. Those lovely stone walls are now hard to replace and costly to repair or replace. The church at 2:37 at the bridge, it seems, appears to perhaps be Eastern Orthodox of some kind. Is it? I couldn't read the sign. Another Market House at 5:07. And a possible ancestor of mine mentioned on the plaque, but I do not really understand why Thomas Charlton and his pal would have been worthy of such commemoration for being bailiffs in the reconstruction or renovation of this edifice. Do you? I'll have to find out what bailiffs may have meant back in yesteryear. It may be from the wording that they were responsible for new buildings and so it was an appreciation for the Market House, is all. A nice pedestrian walkway amidst the shops. Was this visit before the queen died? County Goldsmiths appear to have a sizable operation there and I am delighted to know the artisan work of a goldsmith has not been lost and is flourishing there, even if they do not have the guild associations they did in days of yore. It is not an art we should allow to wither through neglect or disinterest. A nice, sunny day with "enough blue in the sky to make a Dutchman a pair of britches," as my maternal 'Pop-Pop' grandfather would have said. His relatives had come here from The Netherlands. Some early 20thc. figurines in that one shop. Some bison butting heads, as if competing over a female. Well, it's now almost spring. LOL. I don't think I would ever buy a used-plush toy, pre-owned stuffed animal. I am not a germophobe, but doubt I'd ever feel comfortable around it, even after dry-cleaning. Baskets of flowers and such keep the Market House looking inviting, enticing passersby to check the merchants' wares, products. I could not tell what they gave you for tea. Was it a scone with cream & jam? It looked good. Coffee looked ever so fine. Made me want some. A fair number of Saxon, Dutch, Germanic looking buildings. Some high-end stores it seems with names like Gucci on them. Is it a well-to-do area? Interesting to note the Unitarians have a presence. It's cheering that you have so many blooms year 'round due to the wonderful climate you enjoy for growing, even with all the rain. LOL. Thank you.

Thank you Philippa. Your comment has so many interesting questions and points . I'm pretty sure the church you mention is St Chad's Church and it's Church of England. Yes it looked amazing and the inside must be really beautiful too. I should check it out if or when I go back. Shrewsbury made its wealth from wool back in the days and it must still be an affluent place as the high-end shops says it all, just like you pointed out :o) Yes, this trip was last summer, about a couple of months, before our beautiful Queen passed away. The history of this place is amazing and it's the birthplace of Charles Darwin too. Yes we had a lovely scone with clotted cream and jam. It was so delicious, such a lovely Café, just opposite the antiques centre. Overall it was such a beautiful sunny day in such a aesthetically pleasing town with its architecture, blooms and so well maintained. 🤗😘

@@rosalbasden5573 I'm going to look up what bailiffs did back in olden times, so that I understand why Messrs Jones & Charlton were mentioned on a plaque at the Market house, because I think Thomas Charlton is an ancestor, so I must check that, too. Thanks.

@@rosalbasden5573 Oh, I will since I have time after February 10th to do some investigating. I'll let you know. Your given name means white rose in Italian and in Spanish it would be Rosalva. Just one letter changed. But the B & V sounds in Spanish are all but interchangeable, as in Havana and lots of other names and words.

@@philippapay4352 Wonderful Philippa. I'm looking forward to it. Yes Rosalba is such an old name and the older I get the more interesting things I find out or hear about it 😊
