Who Is RumShopRyan:
Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.
When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.
Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much-and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.
I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. I couldn’t be happier being Ryan’s first mate and sharing my photos and stories with you. May they inspire you to go after your tropical dreams and wishes. Make a plan…Set a date…Just go!

Thank you for this top 5 list of beach bars on Fort Myers Beach. I go down there all the time because I have a lot of family there and in Naples too. I've been to Salty Crab and Lani Kai but I'll check out the others next time I go.

My brother in law Dave is the mastermind of the dockside pizzas 🍕. My sister Kathy works at Matanzas’s as well. I’ve gone down there for two weeks in December and had a pizza every day of the trip 😀🎣
I just returned from FMB yesterday.....I'm glad to say I was able to visit #1, #2, and #4 on your list. The food was amazing at the Cottage Inn, breakfast and the buckets of rum were fantastic at the Salty Crab and we stayed at the Lani Kai, the atmosphere there was so much fun from daylight to midnight. Looking forward to going back again.

Cool video, people!! (Burst out laughing when you mentioned the rooms at the Lani Kai. LOL! I was in town one night when they had a shooting. Yes, rooms are not sanitary).
I miss Ft Myers Beach; lived close to San Carlos and Summerlin. I moved back Northeast last August when the COVID started getting out of control and most people were not wearing masks.

I found your channel because I'm looking at videos of before Ian hurricane. I hope you two are safe. my brother worked on Sanibel Island and lives in ft myers. he is safe but has lost everything
We are safe, but have a long road to recovery. Many places we mentioned in the video are now completely gone. So sad.

I still prefer Hallandale Beach Florida and Hollywood Beach Florida, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale Beach, these the best beaches in Florida lifestyle wise ❤.

Where are you standing? You point to Fort Myers Beach behind you, so I'm guessing you're on Sanibel Island. Right?
Where can you park to go to these. The Cottage has about 5 parkings spots
Parking is tough right now, but you can valle park at the Cottage/Shuckers. Parking at Lani Kai.
Are these bars on Estero Island? We are thinking of going to Estero Island for vacation....
I think the island is technically called Estero island, but no one calls it that. It’s Fort Myers Beach and the city of Fort Myers Beach.

Yeah, Doc Fords is still here. Great place. Didn't make the list because it's not on the beach, thus not a beach bar. But we are working on a video for best places to get to by boat. Doc Fords will be on that list!

We were there just this past weekend. Love it. But technically not a beach bar.

We at fort meyers beach right now. Followed your advice. Cottage is worst bar we have been to so far. Would not serve my 21 yr old son cuz he just renewed his mn license cuz he just turned 21. He had his old license and state certified renewal paper and no bueno. They said its florida law ! Haha we have been to 46.5 other bars, and not one said anything!!!! We told the other bars we went to bout the cottage issue and they laffed at us and said there is no such law! Place is stupid expensive and a dump. Dont take this channels advice.
