    AUDIO NOTE: I am sorry about the table thumping noise - seems to be a reflex with me! I didn't want a boom mic when showing a dainty figure, so the table mic was my choice.
    And please be sure to read the DESCRIPTION (below video) for further info on the service I used and the choices available.

    My mom had a garage sale where she sold some of my late father's hats. A man came and told us about a Stacy Adams hat he once had given to someone famous pastor or something bc they liked it Even though it was his favorite hat. He said he could never find another until he came to our sale. He broke down crying bc he had been searching for 40 years.
    Glad we were able to do that for him.

      my dad's family used to run a blacksmithing/machining shop. they used to have some merch like hats, beer coozies, and shirts. the business closed down about 27-28 years ago and my dad and his siblings moved on to other work. the point I'm making is this merch was no longer made. about 3 years ago for his birthday we actually managed to find an unopened hat for this business and gave it to him as a gift. he was estatic and the thing became his favorite hat, wearing it for special occasions. it made him and us so happy for him to have it because sure the thing wasn't worth a whole lot monetarily, it's sentimental value was through the roof.
      Garage sales are absolute goldmines for hidden gems of sentimental value

There has to be a short moment for when you put them back and have a little ,grow up’ moment… but then you always come back and at some point will probably end up buying some toys now for collector reasons. Yea about that, I really don't understand the figurine collecting thing - I don't see the point of it. That being said, I don't judge it per se, I'm rather envious about it, because I can't feel such passion and attachment about it. Anything I buy has to have a function, meaning that I only buy tools. I don't have "nice things"
      So if it makes you happy, enjoy it. You are living your life, not anyone else's - so you really don't have to care about what others think about it. It's *your* home, *your* personal space; they are *your* things, they aren't meant to be accepted by others; they are things *you bought for yourself,* not for anyone else.

    You are living proof that there is no age for gaming. I'm on my thirties and I have the same passion for game as I had when I was just five years old. What makes gaming so great are the almost endless possibilities that you have under your control, the exploration of the environment, the NPCs with their curious histories, the choices you make etc. People should just lost their preconcept against gaming and at least give it a chance to realize how great it is. I can see my self being an old man that enjoys gaming.

    This is such a random thing to see in my recommends but man, I feel this SO much. My Holy Grail Figure was a character from a semi-obscure Korean MMO that was only ever sold in Korean pop up shops or given away as prizes. They only ever made one figure, and I'm pretty sure they stopped producing them altogether years ago. It wasn't that expensive (I ended up buying it for about $200 after all the fees and shipping), but it was obscure enough that the problem was mainly finding anyone who was selling the damn thing.
    I finally got ahold of one just a few months ago (right before my birthday, conveniently enough!) and he's now displayed proudly at my desk :) The game and character mean a lot to me, and even though I'd given up on ever owning this figure years ago... I'm so, so glad I looked one last time. It's not the most amazing figure and it's a little on the small side, but the details and paint job are much better than I would've expected for this obscure release. I'm not even big into figure collecting but this game was so important to me and still holds a special place in my heart. It feels amazing to finally have a piece of that game in my home that I can display and share with others.
    Thank you for sharing your story, and congratulations on finally bringing your Ayesha home!

    Oh my goodness, I have the same Ayesha figure as well.
    My story on how I got her wasn't a tiresome process but rather a work of fate. I'm from the Middle East and I adore the games Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori, Atelier Meruru and Atelier Ayesha (all on the PS Vita). Sadly they weren't that well known so merchandise was scarce for me. The only piece of merchandise I could get my hands on was an artbook of all the Atlier games from Atelier Maria (1990s) until Atelier Rorona (2009).
    Last year, I visited a nearly deserted shopping mall with my husband because there was a Gundam shop he buys from. I was surprised yet happy that among the Gundams, I saw Ayesha. She cost me the equivalent of $150 but I bought her on the spot, since I worried I might lose her if I didn' buy her then. She is so beautiful.

      Rorona is a lovely figure - I'm lucky to have her as well. I think that's great, your mother proudly showing your collection to others. 👍🏻
      There are an awful lot of figurines that are quite simply in poor taste and aimed at the lowest denominator for some men. I do love any art form (including sculpted figures) that celebrate the beauty of the human body in a *natural* style - not twisted into some crude anatomy.

    Glad to hear that you have enjoyed your new figure.
    In 2019 Summer I was lucky enough to travel to Tokyo and on my last day there I figured maybe I should buy something as a souvenir for myself, so I thought I could get a character's figure that's reasonably sized so I can put it in my suitcase and carry it back.
    While strolling down Akihabara I found this shop that had one of the limited edition figure of my favorite character, and I couldn't believe that it was new, like sealed and all that. It was not cheap, and it was definitely not small. I was so hesitant on whether or not to get her. I looked up online and couldn't find it anywhere, at least not new and sealed. I benefited from knowing Japanese so I was able to check several local auction/used market, and of course it's either nonexistent or not new.
    I knew if I had my passport I could prove to the shop owner that I was a foreigner, and thus didn't have to be charged tax for the purchase. But the problem was that I left my passport at my hotel, and I was so worried if I return to the hotel somehow it would be bought by someone else. So in the end I decided to take the cost and got that figure finally. It didn't fit in my suitcase tho, so I had to pay extra to have it packaged at the local postal office and checked it at the airport (I just couldn't negotiate to carry it with me as it is really, really big)
    And I am happy that I made the purchase. It was expensive, in fact almost double what they originally sold for, but that's probably the only one that I could find that's new. So I would still consider it lucky for me that I was able to spot it in Akihabara.

Video games and collecting figures has no age limit; it's an expensive hobby, but it's one that makes many of us very happy, especially if it's from something that means so much to us. The Atelier games are also a lot of fun and I wish more people knew about them. It's a great series of games.

      @@1rage17 This is really the thing that's shit. People tend to push away whatever does not conform to the "normal". When watching anime and all that stuff wasn't mainstream (say, pre-2000s), people who showed interest toward anything Japanese were treated as outcasts. Post 2010-2020 (not sure when exactly), anime and Japanese media got popular and extremely mainstream, especially in some parts of Asia. Suddenly, those who DON'T consume Japanese media are now the ones treated as outdated, "not fun".
      We all ought to learn how to appreciate each other better, regardless of our differing interests, backgrounds, and whatnot. Forced conformity really is shit and needs to somehow be addressed, in some countries more than others.

    Just stumbled upon this channel and I have to say that around my 20's, I began asking people on the internet if liking anime and video games was childish. My parents always gave me grief about "liking cartoons" while in high school and early college. They thought that "cartoons" were childish amd immature. Most people I spoke to, however, told me that if I like it, then go with it. Don't let others tell you what you can and can't be interested in.
    Now I'm in my mid-30's and cane across this channel. I feel like this woman proves all those people I've spoken to right. Here's this nice, kind woman who is totally into anime and video games, which (absolutely no offense here) are a product of a several generations who came along much later than her own. Yet, she found interest in it, pursued it, and enjoys it.
    So, I guess what I'm saying is, no matter what your interests and hobbies are, if you like it, and it doesn't harm others, then go for it. Just ignore what weird looks otgers might give you. Lol

    • @Food4Dogs
      @Food4Dogs  2 роки тому +1

      The whole issue is so perplexing because for some time now we've had animated series that are made for *adults* (I don't mean that type of adult content 😄) - for example, we recently watched "Undone" (Amazon Prime), which is excellent. But I'm pretty sure it's marked in my region with a "Mature" rating.
      Same thing with many modern anime series - they are definitely NOT suitable for young children!
      So this 'argument" about games and anime being "childish" is just horribly outdated and uninformed.

    • @SpexSpexington
      @SpexSpexington 2 роки тому

      @Food4Dogs I definitely agree! I have always tried explaining that to people. Just because it's animated, does NOT mean it's for kids. I mean, just look at long-running series like The Simpsons (I assume they have this where you live since the show is in its 34th season by now and has become known all over the world). Although the series doesn't have explicit language, sexual content, blood, violence, etc, it's still aimed solely at adults due to its content being "family household antics" or whatever. Kids don't know anything about running households, working jobs, having a married life, raising children (both degenerate and overly intelligent), etc. They wouldn't be able to relate to the humor that's in the series. Yet, for some reason, "anime" and other "cartoons" are labeled as "for children" sometimes just because of them being animated.
      Not only is the whole idea outdated, but it's not looking at the true meaning of these modern animations, which is that they're a form of modern art. At least, that's how I see it. Animation, video games, and comics/manga are all a form of artistic expression. And video games, in particular, are an even more advanced version of this medium of expression since they are interactive, allowing the player to not only indulge in the art, the story telling, etc, but to also "be" the protagonist (or antagonist) or to at least control them.
      Luckily, by this time, my parents accept that I like this stuff and that it truly isn't childish. I've even shown some clips of certain series to them, and they were surprised by the "adult content" in some of them (and like you said, not THAT kind of adult content!). I think they still have that stereotype in the back of their head though, but they seem to understand that not all animation is "Looney Tunes" or something. I think the Shrek movies helped too. We've seen all the movies together, but the first one surprised my parents. They didn't expect the movie to be animated (well... CG), yet be aimed solely at adults. They really enjoyed it and we've seen all the movies together.
