MULTI-AGENCY ISLANDWIDE COUNTER-TERRORISM EXERCISE CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY

- The largest Singapore Police Force-led, islandwide multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise to date concluded in the early hours of 18 October 2016. This 2-phase exercise involved more than 2,400 officers from the Home Team and 660 Singapore Armed Forces officers, as well as 60 volunteers from the People's Association.
Apart from raising public awareness on the terrorism threat and encouraging continued vigilance from members of the public, the exercise also served to test and validate inter-agency readiness, coordination and emergency response to a major terrorist incident.
SPF-LED JOINT DETERRENCE PATROLS WITH SAF
Phase 1 commenced on 17 October 2016 from 10am, with SPF leading the joint deterrence patrols with SAF at over 360 locations islandwide. ICA also led joint deterrence patrols with SAF at Tuas and Woodlands Checkpoints.
SPF AS FIRST LINE OF RESPONSE TO TERROR ATTACKS, WITH SUPPORT FROM SAF
Phase 2 took place on 17 October 2016 from 10pm to 3.00am on 18 October 2016. Terror attacks were simulated at 6 multiple locations islandwide. Phase 2 tested and validated the command and control of SPF in leading the SAF and SPF tactical forces to neutralise armed attackers and handle terrorist hostage-taking situations.

I really must say, those ERT officers at 2:16 - 2:19 have incredibly good combat form. I am quite impressed by how seriously they take this exercise.
The public need to be alert and be united, and coordinate accordingly for the Singapore's Special anti -terror task force to do their job effectively and quickly to protect the public safety. Cheer for the exercise and be ready for the worst!
We ourselves, civilians, need to stay alert and these kinds of things can be avoided. Yes, the police and military will respond but we will be the first line of defense. We should always be prepared and know what to do when we suspect anything suspicious. Never ignore the minor signs

Ryan Sace But our units are barely on par with theirs due to our lack of experience. In fact our CT unit (STAR) officers are required to go overseas and serve with these units as training

It is good for urban n close range shooting. It feels like a light toy gun if u carry those. But i bet the moment anyone got hit by those rounds, they should be immobilized or maybe dead if hit at the vital areas. You've got to experience it. Then u know what i meant. I am saying this since I am trained on those toys✌

SPF is designed with an inhibition protocol that scales up very quickly. This gives the SPF a relatively low level of power in a civilian setting, to prevent police brutality and bring closer ties to the civilian population. However, in a criminal, terrorist and insurgency scenario, that inhibition is lifted completely and the deployed power of the SPF is on par with any other nation's militarized police force. Only reason the SPF appears less than capable is because they never needed to deploy paramilitary police divisions like the SOC in the first place. So they mediate this by performing anti-terrorism and anti-insurgency drills on a very regular basis and co-operating directly with the SAF.
The situation in Colombia escalated due to public perception of Police Brutality, which is almost completely unheard of in Singapore as Police Officers here do not have any power to abuse in a civilian setting.
