Fun isn't something one considers when using the best job for slaying primals, but this does put a smile on my face.
The other jobs, they specialize, hoping to fill a niche that caters to the Warrior of Light's playstyle leaving themselves open to weakness, but the PLD, it laughs for it has none.

props to you bro. i loved playing paladin in all mmo's but just couldnt like it in 2.0 or 3.0 - 4.0 is when i started to actually love it but now i will definitely love it

I'm a SCH/SMN main and I wanted to get to start tanking so I started with gladiator. To get a feel with tanking so I could play gunbreaker with some knowledge of tanking. And I gotta say im having so much fun. I was never into tanking until now. Thanks Larry for your content that made me inspired to play all of these jobs. You make each and every job look so much fun with your basically videos. Keep up the good work Larry and I hope you have fun with the new expansion when its officially released. ＼(^o^)／

Paladin is looking very nice. I love the shield, and the new moves look super fun.
Oh nice, PLD went from terrible AOE in HW, to better-than-no-AOE in SB, to here, have all this AOE! I've never been a huge fan of the job but I love how the changes look and I'm really excited to play it.
RIP RoH animation. I really liked it. But going from Total Eclipse hell to AOE heaven is pretty neat.
Not quite. It's just that Rage of Halone evolves into Royal Authority at level 60.
I think they just meant specifically the character animation... Although TECHNICALLY it's actually getting replaced at 54... By goring blade... Because the upgraded GB initial potency (390) is higher than the upgraded RoH potency (350), effectively making it useless until it gets upgraded to RA at 60... I hope they address this and give it a slight bump so it's worth using during that 5 level gap, even if it's via a trait gained alongside GB to keep it's lower level damage balanced

Aaah i really need to get this job to level 70, im on lvl 70 for dark knight and warrior so i cant wait to try all the tank roles (so excited for gunbreaker to). Im definitely trying dancer as my first dps job for its synergy

Eyyyyy! Exactly what that animation made me think of! If only Paladin got some Sword Skills like that. Goring Blade is one of my favorites just because it's very similar to that concept.
I'm really glad that I recently got into playing PLD again for the first time in years (literally to mentally prepare myself for getting an IRL job where I'll have to talk to coworkers way more than I'm used to), this update really feels exactly what I've wanted SB paladin to be.
I love how Paladin has the same name in English, French and German which makes it easier to understand than Dancer and Tänzer for example.
Paladin looks real crispy! That Artifact armor is top tier! This is gonna be a toss up between maining PLD or DRK.

As a Paladin main I'm loving the changes, only bummer is rage of halone seems to be gone. Going to miss that animation :(
My guess is that Larry just doesn't have it on the hot bar. You can see that Royal Authority is a lvl 60 skill, so I don't think RoH was removed. PLD's gotta have some combo finisher before then. It'll just stay a low level combo.
I mean, RoH is a aggro chain ability. It is useful to take aggro, but after that you'll be using the Royal Authority chain for DPS.
@@MrLorro It doesn't generate emnity in Shadowbringers anymore. So once you learn Royal Authority there's no more reason to use roh
@@jedimasterpickle3 RoH evolves into RA at 60, so you lose access to RoH unless you level sync below 60.
@@Gameshunter92 oh really? I never learned the details. I just knew emnity combos were going away. Does Savage Blade turn into Riot Blade, or was it just removed?
As a main PLD I couldn't be happier, however I'm going to miss Rage of Halone. I guess that also means that there are no enmity combos either.
As every skill does increase enmity if the "shield Oath" (Iron Will, yes it would be Shield Oath for a looong time for me XD) is on, you can say all the combos are enmity combos :D

Judging from the DRK video where he toggles Grit on without popping GCD I'm guessing Shield Oath is the same. I don't think I can handle this many QoL changes, am I dreaming?

I liked what I saw here. A real job buff indeed. Paladin will be now a super fun job to make big pulls. I like that.
It's a good time to be a Paladin, though it may be odd only seeing Shield oath gauge even in sword oath, but I'm convinced, I think I'll be staying a Paladin, I'll play the others as I can change anytime, but I believe it'll still be my main looking at this
according to the tooltip, spirits within now has the upheaval potency thing where its strongest at full health
It's always been that way. Upheaval copied Spirits Within.

ARMOR LOOKS SIIIIICK, never played PLD but still cool
PLD does feel super good now. I had left it behind in favor of DRK and some other non-tank jobs, DRK even got changed this expansion to be much more fun and fluid to play, and then I hopped on PLD and it was even moreso!
The PLD changes are making me steer away from DRK and WAR. Help~! xD

PLD was my first tank. Then I was a DRK for the longest time. Then I went WAR for May and this month. These changes are just absolutely the best, I want to be a PLD again myself. PLD impressed me the most with its changes compared to our other current tanks. It might even be impressing me more than our new job, Gunbreaker.
The way I think I'm going to see tanks in Shadowbringers:
PLD > GNB > WAR > DRK
Currently:
WAR > DRK > PLD

Loving the changes. However it seems like the pld did loose a fair amount of its defensive CDs.

if I am to be honest - a lot of the changes look really, really good - seems like the jobs finally got the refinement that SE has been trying to find for the most part - healers changes I will agree that they look ... odd for now - I say wait until the content comes out and than make the call on if its good or bad - because we can theory craft all we want - but until we see it in effect and see what they have planned for us - we wont see if those changes make sense - otherwise I find that the changes they made are a very appealing thing - looks like a lot of it is much more fluid and graspable - where as the current tank stance dancing for extra dps - can frankly drive people to be intimidated with it right off the bat - and making them less than likely to even try - healers have a sort of similar situation - but until raid stuff it is fairly significantly less pronounced from tanks - or so it seems to me.

IIRC Rage upgrades into Authority via a trait, so I guess you'll still see it in low level content? But I agree, the animation was really cool, though so is Authority's.
Rage of halone will still be there, but only at low level content (up to level 59). At level 60 or above, it automatically upgrades to royal authority.

I thought enhanced sheltron buffed the timer from 4 to 6 seconds but in here its different
They probably changed it, this is all development footage after all
Question, u get 5 shield gauge whenever u block an attack, and shelltron lasts 6 seconds and blocks EVERY attack u take. so if u had 5 mobs on you, you could technically block every single attack for the entire pull cause they will hit u 10 times in those 6 seconds which will give you 50 shield gauge.
As of ShB oath gauge will only be gained from autos

Is it just me or did they buff the everliving shit out of the paladin.
It appears that way at first glance, but a lot of the potency buffs are there to make up for the lack of sword oath auto attack damage, so it'll be relatively even

for what i can spot that you missed larry, i noticed that "Cover" costs 50 points of the gauge now. how bizzare....
If it got a reduced cool down in exchange, that could be big. There are fights like O12S and O7S where the limiting factor to how some damage was mitigated was Cover cool down on PLD
@@rayhatesu unfortunately it's the same cooldown, and in addition to the cost, it also lost the built-in rampart, guess they thought it was too strong

@@justinsane3507 HS base potency actually gets nerfed, tentatively, from 380 to 350, however Req will be a 50% increase to damage instead of it's current 20%, so it's a buff to 525, from its current effective 456, in disguise. However that actually makes confiteor effectively 1200 potency, the same as a buffed Midare from a SAM will be. So much for war having the highest potency single attack lmao

it was never hard for paladin. they literally have had the best tank stance in the game since ARR
@@xarnic291 Flat -20% dmg done and taken is "The best" ? DRK can cancel his own -20% out.....without any reqs.
@@Fion355 that's a combination of damage stance and tank stance, i was talking in pure reference to tank stance, not both in tandem. DRK does have the better combination of stances when tanking, but I'm talking tank stance alone

I've heard that all tank jobs skills related to tankstance is now off cooldown, so no worries!

The armor is awesome, the sword is pretty cool but that shield is so terrible. Looks like SB AF shield will still match, though.

It's still there. It evolves into Royal Authority at level 60.
