I didn't care for MGK until I saw Kelly Vision and heard Hotel Diablo and Lace Up. It's amazing to see where he started and where he and Slimm and the band ended up. He is not a product of the industry like the Stereo type. Sadly it's Hollywood and California that changed him. Too much press is dangerous. That's what got him in trouble. Lace Up is amazing and a lot I can relate to as kid born in Philadelphia and a mom who never knew her dad and grew up poor. Then I ended up in California. I see how you turn different once living in Los Angeles. His interview with Dax Shepard , Arm Chair expert and his biography movie sold me. Tickets to my downfall came at a perfect time with the Covid lockdown. People are wrong why he made that album. It wasn't about Eminem. It was about Travis Barker and artists he had been working with all along like Mod Sun who helped him create a different sound.

He used to sleep on Ashely's mom's couch in the basement when he was homeless, Ashely and Dre are now his managers. Slim is his daughter's god father he is also the producer and key player in the band. Also his band mates Rook (the drummer) and Baze (base player) have been with him for 12 years now. His inner circle is the same since the beginning and never changed

I found MGK in 2011 before he had Much fame and quickly became my favorite artist. I’m positive there is no one I’ve listened to more in my lifetime. Always confused in the early days why he wasn’t one of the biggest artist in the world. It’s so refreshing to see people finally going back into his catalog and realizing the amazing artist his long times fans always knew he was and see him finally get some credit. There will never be another like him.

You should definitely get into his lockdown session it’s like a lil EP he put out with 4 or 5 tracks when the covid lockdown was in effect and they all famous covers or samples. My 2 recommendations would be Pretty Toxic Revolver(sample is Shawn Mendes-Mercy) and smoke and drive(sample is Mike Posner/Big Sean-smoke and drive)
