As you have said many times, we must learn to ignore the critics but inner and out in the world. I quilt and have them called blankets and want me to make one for their "someone" for $200. I used to make stained glass and people would come up to it and bang on it saying "Is that plastic?". Full coverage cross stitch and they say.... well you get the picture. I love and am inspired by your work and videos. Thank you.
I can’t even imagine someone thinking what you create is easy. Beauty in my mind comes from within and through interaction and understanding of what has been done and then thinking of what can be done based on that perspective and resources. I love learning about your thought process. Thanks again Ariane! Sandy
Thank you so much Sandy. I forgot to mention in this video the challenge of composition and how that becomes a huge piece of getting things to flows and work together. I might do another video on that once I get back from Egypt. ❤️
Enjoying your videos and with the stray green chenille near the end how you made it work. I I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that. Knotting with the head of the needle at the end I do often. Others could'nt understand how I did it even by showing them. I hate to waste any of my thread. Many have said I'm a 'tight a**" withthe thread and that's fine. please forgive my old mouth. Again love your videos, wish i had seen them sooner. Sew much talent in this world This video is like a thread scrap buster for me! Thank You!!
This piece is so beautiful. I love how you explain your process. Love the conversation yo have with your work. You have such a positive approach, so helpful, thank you.
Love your thought process and results Ariane. I'm working on other projects now but trying to work on ideas re: where I want to begin a piece and with what colours as my linen is plain buff coloured. I've added to my collection of textiles to applique - just received 2 pieces of bark and 2 sari scrap bags from SF as I've scrim etc. already. Plus 10 hanks of Textile Selection which I'm winding separately onto a new packet of bobbins as I'll find it easier in the long run (and enjoyable to do while I watch TV!). They're gorgeous as I ordered more random ones than my perle and others so far. I'll admit I've generally couched chenille threads in the past and also boucle ones as they drive me berserk otherwise!!
I really enjoyed this video. I have done freeform crochet...I agree, to others it looks easy, but it is not. I would love to see a video on how to begin a piece. Slow stitching is something I have started and find so relaxing and enjoyable. Started by watching Anne Brooke Textile Artist and being a part of her 52 week tag challenge.
I think your work is beautiful and so inspiring. I would love to have some of your awesome threads they are like a treasure chest of gems. Thank you for sharing, hugs from down under.
No it is not easy! I often start out with a plan of sorts and then it veers off in some direction other than what I wanted and I am seldom satisfied with the result. This happens in all of my arts and crafts from painting to needle work to card making. I love that section on your piece that is greenish brown with the colourful seed stitches in it. It looks like a bit of a map. It's near the top I think. Love that!
I can't really use that chenille because I do things like cushions and it just doesn't stand up to any wear at all. Looking forward to a project some day where I can use it.
Thank you so much Susan. I agree, a piece can easily move in ways we don't expect. That's where composition plays a big role and figuring out what will and won't work and why.
@@ArianeZurcher212 People who don't make any sort of art can't seem to understand the thinking and working involved in the process. I found that when I sold any of my work most could not understand the prices charged and thought I should give them a bargain! lol
I understand what you are saying as I pick out a piece of fabric and asked at store:What are you going to do with it and I usually felt obligated to explain , the fabric will tell me after I begin 💞
When I'm having trouble with something I'm working on, I put it up on my design wall. The wall is in a spot I walk by daily and see from the corner of my eye, it will stay up there til I have a spark. I've also found that if what I've done isn't grabbing me, it usually means I haven't done enough yet.
Hi Darcy- you’ll have to be more specific as I posted this video awhile ago and have no idea where in the video you’re referring to. Let me know, and I’ll be able to answer. ❤️

Thx so much Diana! From stained glass to quilting and stitching! Wonderful. And yes ignore as much as is possible and keep going anyway! ❤️💕❤️
Thank you for sharing your process. I’m always thrilled to see a new UA-cam from you. A treat I can savor for myself.🌞
Oh Patricia, that's really nice to hear. Thank you. ❤️
Excellent! You are VERY inspiring.
Thank you so much! ❤️
I love how you incoporporated crocheting. I am going to try that. Enjoyed hearing how you want the different areas to flow into each other💕🐬
I don’t know how to crochet, but it seems like it would be a great addition!

It sounds great! At a certain point composition becomes a huge consideration. And that's where things can get challenging! Enjoy the process!!

Hi Pam, yes, that's a great idea. I have made a note to do a video on how and where to begin.

Thanks so much Rhonda. Threads are like being in a candy store. I love being surrounded by so many luscious ones.

Yes, it's definitely a fragile thread.
