Another wonderful and joyous day, Harry is such a happy man! Thanks a lot for sharing! It seems like everyone wants Harry to travel to their country, Harry is a famous internet celebrity now! 👍😄👏
you haven't seen any thing in Tripoli... you didn't see the historical city (the 2nd biggest mamlouk city in the world after Cairo) the biggest castle in Lebanon, the smallest church in the world, the biggest cathedral in North Lebanon, the biggest mamlouk mosque in Lebanon... Man you missed lot of cool places... even in el Mina where the fish market is, you missed St George cave, and the old city of Mina...
Harry, your kind gesture to the locals is so genuine. It's fascinating that in the winter you could go to the beach and swim in the morning, then after half an hour to an hour of travel, up into the mountains and ski. So exciting!
Its great you all went to Tripoli. It is considered the poorest city on the Mediterranean coast. Many residents and refugees try to flee to Europe by boat due to economic hardship, and a lot have perished in the sea. It is so sad! Usually zaatar or cheese is put inside the kaak (sesame bun). Tripoli is famous for its traditional soap factory, old souks, old Ottoman baths, huge crusader castle, famous sweets at al-Hallab and old buildings. I am also so sad to the passing of Queen Elizabeth. I offer my condolences. Long Live the King!
Check out the old souk the next time you're in tripoli, you'll find a gold market, copper market, vegetable market, olive oil soap market, and some more (it's very close to where you were at the start of the video.) There's an ancient Crusader citadel on that route, it's usually pretty empty, and the fee is minimal (however there's a small army base due to the strategic location of the citadel, they won't bother you, just don't take pictures of them). You also need to try Lebanese sweets when in tripoli, its something out of this world (hallab sweets) When in Mina (the sea part of tripoli), I'd also recommend you eat at hummus and foul places (i'd recommend Tik Tak - Abou Rami).. And if you're there in the evening, check out Minot street, it's home to what remains of Tripoli's bar scene (maybe timmy's is a good place) Other things you can check out: Artisanal Clay workshops, traditional glass making, and even old abandoned trains.
hi harry, glad to see that you came to my home-city, but i'm a bit sad that you didn't see all of it's beauty, you should definitely come back and take a look at the historical market and the functioning turkish baths, take a tour in the old fortress of the city, try some of our local delicacies like moghrabiye, sheep brains and spinal cords (it might seem weird at first but when you try it you'll love it), and maybe go to the more modern part of the city and try some local stores that sells homemade jams and fresh natural honey, and last but not least Tripoli is known for it's sweets, next time you come back here trying as much sweet as you can is a must.
hi harry you're so cool talking to the locals. looks all fresh fish in the market enjoy your travel and food with your good friends.my condolences to the queen of England take care always. love from manila 😍✌👍🙏🇵🇭
Interesting what you said in the end that you can go skiing in the mountains during winter there Harry. Didn't know they get snow up in the mountains.. And yummy looking snacks you had too. Hope you can also try our local pastries when you come back to PH. I know you've tried some at JULIE'S BAKESHOP before, but would like to see you try the traditional ones like Pan de Sal, Pan de Coco, Ensaymada, Spanish Bread, etc. On your return, I suggest you try the following Filipino-owned bakeshops which have many branches scattered throughout the metro: PAN DE MANILA (must try) THE FRENCH BAKER (Yes, this is Filipino but sells both local and international breads and pastries. Branches are mostly found inside malls.) GOLDILOCKS - famous for their cakes but has many other products. And they also have the Brazo de Mercedes that you liked when you had it at that old restaurant in Intramuros with Ali. And btw Harry, Jollibee's Chickenjoy has been hailed as the "Best Fried Chicken in America" by global food website 'Eater' :)
Hello Harry. Very short video in a very small area in Tripoli. You guys missed a bunch of really cool places. Hello to Mac Fouad and the gang. Welcome to my home city Tripoli
You've seen absolutely nothing in Tripoli.. you guys missed all old schools ( madrassa, mosques, hammams, soap factory and all caravanseries..) not to mention wondering around more hip areas in the city with trendy caffes..
If ever i visit the Middle East or Mideterranean countries, Lebanon is in my bucket list aside from Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Greece and Turkey.Im more particular with historic and biblical sites. Thats really my dream.
You have to come back, you haven’t seen anything from the historical part. For me the best thing in Tripoli is the food, you can visit Hallab and ask them for a tour inside the factory so you can see how the sweets are prepared. Looking forward for your visit
Dude ! Your Lebanese companion and guide It seems that he does not know Tripoli well didn't take you to all the good places and events It seems that you have not tasted the famous Tripoli sweets (One of the best in the eastern world) Sorry to say you missed a great opportunity You missed a lot of what Tripoli has to offer It is the Arab Istanbul
He was literally asking in front of the cam and getting the prices directly in front of everyone in Arabic and I can attest to the proper translation, and clearly he doesn't know much in Tripoli so I doubt he is making money off of them. He just didn't feel like haggling especially when the prices are so low. Some people are honest too you know. The only exorbitant price was the 300$ boat ride, but they haven't agreed on the final price he just took his number for later reference. In all cases it's up to the "tourist" to decide how much they are willing to pay in the end.
