Great information Dale! I really like your no nonsense, no bullshit approach....Great video!
Thank you Gene. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch too
A an amazing amount of information in 9 minutes Dale. Now all I have to do is to move to Iowa so I can use footholds. 😃
They were banned here in Jersey in 1985. I didn't start trapping until I was 49 in 2007 and learned to trap with snares. Your boot foot slide and castor mound video got me my first two beavers this year! Thanks for everything you do to help all of us!
Scott
I know you Jersey trappers got the shaft Scott and I hate for y'all too. I'm glad I was able to help you out some with catching your first ones. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it
Good information dale i set a few traps on 10 foot chain sometimes if im in a hurry but most the time i run drowning cables because we can only have 10 beaver traps in my wmu and 20 in the next wmu. so i take time and make all 10 sets the most productive way possible and less theft.. if i was in a state where i could run alot more traps id probably use your method sometimes just to make sets faster
It's not a method for everyone John . But if you can use it? It darn sure works. Thank you for watching
Mr.Dale very good teachable video.
Thank you Curtis.
Very good advice great video
Thank you Jason
Good info,I can say it most definetly works I caught 3 using that set this spring.I still drown beaver when I can but when you have a location that is shallow and fairly open it is simple to put in and deadly! Love the Bridger #3 coil. Thanks Dale and hope you can do another clinic later this year.
Thank you Mike. We're looking at the 3rd weekend of September for a 2nd clinic. Let me know what you think?
Yes that works, let me know how you want deposit.
@mikeleclair1308 will do Mike. Thank you
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing your info with us. If I wasn't so far away I'd go to your school.
Thank you MT CHAD. I understand that buddy. I appreciate you

Thanks for the pointer on how to guild their feet .always learning.
Thank you for watching Paul
Another very informative video, thanks Dale!
You're welcome Jason. Thank you for watching
👍👍👍
Thank you Mr. Melvin
This is such GREAT info! If you are new to beaver trapping or need a refresher, this is spot on! With practice and experience you can almost guarantee a catch on the foot of your choice. Nothing is 100% though... I am still trying to figure out how I got a front foot catch on a beaver in a MB-750.. That was set finger tip to elbow out from the bank and elbow deep for a hind foot....
And PAY ATTENTION TO THE PAN TENSION advice!!!! If you don't, you'll be sorry.
p.s. Dale, those old Northwoods traps were built like TANKS!! I still have some (offsets) for coyotes. I wish I had bought all I could along with the dogless Montys!
Thank you Pensnut. Yes sir if we could have just seen into the future back then. We would have bought semi loads them old Northwoods and Montgomery traps.
He reminds me of the Edgar character from the first Men in Black movie. I don't trap (I live in a city), but I love to watch this guy love what he does. We don't have to be the same kind of dude.
Thank you for watching Joe. I appreciate it very much
Check out Sterling ,s new #11
Leeruch I did not know that Sterling came out with one. I will check it out. Thank you
Great info Dale! Thank you for sharing!
I appreciate you watching Mark. Thank you

Thank you Chris. I appreciate you buddy. It's almost Big Bluegill season buddy
Another good one Dale. Thanks a bunch. Keep em coming!
Thank you Jeff. Thank you for watching too
I don't do alot of beaver trapping but a few years ago I took Dale's advice and went to using number 3's on long chains and no more drowning.
I can honestly say beaver trapping got a hole lot easier!!
Thank you Brian. No sense in making more work out of it than what it already is. I appreciate you watching too
Thank you for the advice
Thank you for watching Matthew.
Thanks for the tips Dale. I do not use drowning rods either and have had no problem with my mb 750s but then I do not trap a lot of beaver but like to
Thank you for watching Paul. I appreciate you buddy
Great content. I do a similar set on a smaller scale for muskrat.
Thank you Jeff. I appreciate you watching too
Regular jaw number 3s or offset fully modified
They both work just fine Jason. I've never had a problem with either holding beaver. Thank you for watching
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 after watching that video thinking of buying 4 dozen 3 Bridger's to use for cat and coyote then to trap beaver in the spring
@jasonpine1142 that's exactly the way to go
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 thanks
Good stuff sir. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you Dale for watching
More great information Dale.👍🏻😁🇺🇸
Sonny I appreciate you sir. Thank you
#3 Coil on 10’ of Chain is my go to Beaver Iron as well. I’ve held Beavers by the Back foot no problem.
Yip I know that Jim. I appreciate you and thank you for watching
Great info Dale , congrats on the Subs growing.
Thank you Mike. Yes sir it just keeps going up

Thank you Rick for taking the time to watch. I appreciate you
Thanks
I hope it helps some Jack. Thank you for watching
Mr Dale if you couldn't check traps until 4 pm after work would you still not drown them?
Yes KC beaver don't fight as hard as coyotes do. You'll be fine
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 thank you sir.
"#5 simply because people tell you that it can't be done" Nothing explains the Rural American attitude better than that! lol As always great content, can't wait for the next video, keep them coming. 😀
Thank you Patrick. I sincerely appreciate you watching too.
Man if you aren’t right on time with this video!! A pair of beaver just showed up on our pond and gotta go! Thanks for sharing the info
@dannyo.4131 thank you for watching. I hope it helps you some
Duke n bridger #3 coil, long chain or drowner, easy as hell ❤
Thank you Donald. Yes it's not hard. Some make more work out of it than it has to be
Dale, do you run your trap pans high as shown when actually in the field?
No Jason I don't. That trap needed adjustments made to it. I like them to set level
I assumed so but it had me curious anyway. Thank you very much!
@JasonTurner-xb3oe thank you for watching
Why do you prefer to keep the beaver alive as opposed to drowning?
There a few reasons Bill.
#1 live beaver don't draw negative attention from the other beaver in the colony. Once other beaver see dead beaver laying around they can get pretty waspy sometimes.
#2 extra weight and speed at the set area. I don't have to pack rebar stakes and drowning rods or extra weights into set.
#3 I can make a set where I want to vs where I have to because of water depth
#4 I can release non targets such as otter
#5 simply because people tell you that it can't be done 😂
Mr. Dale, why do you advise against targeting the front foot live hold with long springs? Do the springs tend to hang up on stuff and cause more stress on the leg?
@JWZelch that's exactly why. The trap hangs up
Goodun Dale ! ..... Where's his foot gonna be when he stick's his nose in it ? ....... Dad said thats where the pan goes ! 😆
That's right Otter Cat 😂. Thank you. I appreciate you buddy
