    Out of all my cameras, if I had to pick just 1 to do all my video and photo work, it would be the Nikon Z6. Best of both worlds, amazing photos, great video features!

    I've had my Z6 for well over a year, and I love it so much.
    The 50mm 1.8 is a game changer.
    The 14-30 f/4 is unlike anything I've seen before.
    If the Z7 were the same price as the Z6 at launch, I still would have chosen the Z6 for it's speed, low light, and video advantages.

    Got mine two months ago and I absolutely love it, now my dslr's feel like antiques, lol. Really like the silent shooting with no more shutter clunk, the "S" lenses are staggeringly good too. Cheers from the UK. PS I've subscribed too.

      @CameraToFreedom  5 років тому

      AoToGo aright?! It’s hard to go back to the chunky dslr after this! Silent mode is so useful. I always felt uncomfortable when i shooting in quiet events and here I am just clicking away. Thanks for the support!

    • @AtlantaTerry
      @AtlantaTerry 4 роки тому

      How quiet are they? I work on the sets of movie and TV productions so NOTHING that I use can create ANY sound at all. Back about a dozen years ago, my first digital camera was a Minolta DiMage A2. It was all electronic but the lens aperture could be heard stopping down by the microphones around me. I finally fixed the problem by wrapping a piece of black felt around the camera.
      So it is really important for me to know how quiet the Nikon Z6 and Z7 are.
      Thank you.

    For action shooters: Have you installed the new 3.0 firmware update? I tested the camera on BIF and the result is simply amazing! I now have a "new" Z6 shooting great action shots. The auto-focusing tracking is simple great! Just as good as the D5 and D500. It is worth every penny.
    I now want to buy a CF-express so I can test how many shoots the camera is able to do in one burst on 12FPS. The upgrade really made me happy with Nikon again.

      One mix to Z6 crippled? Are you using that ratio for social media? I started using Nikon (film) Cameras in grade school. After using DSLRs for decades, I decided mirror-less was the way to go.
    I sold 99% of the DSLR cameras and lenses I had accumulated after a lifetime of photography.
    I purchased a Z6 with the 24-70 kit lens about two weeks ago. INCREDIBLE does not begin to describe it.
    So far, this camera does everything better, than previews Nikon cameras.
    I shoot (M) manual 99.99% of the time. Incredible control, nice low light capabilities and features.
    It is definitely the future of cameras. If you are serious about photography try it, I know you'll like it.

      If you want to step up I would recommend you to either get a used d7200 or the d7500. There is really no good reason for an amateur to spend more than 1000k on a camera body. Videos like this one are made by professionals with different requirements and expectations. I have been shooting for 5 years with the d7200 (2015) and the 17-55mm lens (2003) throughout the world and it still delivers. Sure it has some limitations that I mostly work around, but is it worth for me to spend 2500k and get a z6 with a 24-70 f4?, hell no! I will not consider a new camera before this one bites the dust.

    • @CameraToFreedom

    I love the Z6 too -- just bought a second body. The S lenses are superb too. Just a tip: Achieving focus on the eye, then reframing has never been a good idea, especially with shallow DoF. You'll lose critical focus. Eye AF is an advantage in that respect, but I don't rely on it. The joystick is an excellent addition. I'm sure you know this but the side part of an L-bracket is not just for protection but to mount the camera vertically on a (Swiss-arca type) tripod mount, same as base.

      Michael Czahur the image quality is about the same but z6 is so much better once the iso is above 800 or so. D750, I was comfortable with bringing the iso to 800 before grain starts to appear. Z6 you can bump that to 4000+ and the image is very usable! Plus the eye focus makes the z6 the winner!

    Struggling between z6 and r3 for a hybrid camera, Nikon’s S lens are very sharp but the biggest aperture is only 1.8, not sure if it is enough for the night videography. Also there is few lens options compare to Sony. By compare them in store, I was surprised by the how easy to use z6 as a new user to Nikon system. I mainly shoot travel video and landscape still, do you still recommend z6 for me? Not sure the 42 mega pixel helps when it comes to print or images quality. Good work! Subscribed

      I recommend z6 if you already have nikon f lenses to use with the adapter since nikon z lenses are so expensive. Jump while you can still get a good price for the D750. I have other cameras like the black magic and GH5 that uses the SD card so I kept them otherwise you can just use it as a mini external drive! QXD is suppose to be millions times more stable then SD cards so don't worry too much about one card slot.

    I am debating between the Z6 and Lumix S1 or S1h. Being a R&G and solo shooter, the only thing really holding me back is the auto focus on the Lumix. How do you find the autofocus on the Z6?

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  4 роки тому +2

      Dania R after the recent 3.0 update, I absolutely love the autofocus! It does eye focus on humans and dogs and cats and I have two dogs. Then if the eye autofocus is giving you problem for any reason then you can push the ok button while aiming at your targets face or anything at all then it’ll continuously track it without having to switch modes! It’s so much cooler to see it then to explain it. It blew my mind! I’ll make a small video about it.

    Quick question, how is the auto focus on the Z6 with the Tamron 24-70mm G2 for video?

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  4 роки тому

      It’s badass but it depends on how you use the autofocus. If you’re shooting from an angle of a person, let’s say bride and groom cutting cake, it won’t know where to focus but you can simple tap on the screen to get your focus. If you see their front face then it will grab that focus but you need to use the joystick to select from either groom or bride if there are more then one person on your view. Definitely dependable with you gimbal if you’re aiming right and tapping screen when needed. For photos it’s fast and accurate focus too if there’s only 1 or two people in view, more that single point focus is best. Fast at focusing with the G2 lens!

Was looking for some mirrorless that can help me out with videos and photos... I was almost fixed my mind to go for a7riii but changed my mind at the very last min to go for z7 after knowing certain advantages... Do not compare it with d750 which is purely meant for photos... But when it comes to videos as well as photos then z series are the legends.... 😎 No doubt I still love my d750 but it's high time to upgrade ur gears as the clients expectations are increasing day by day.... We have no choice than adding something that brings out the best.. Am not talking about the brands here... Just talking about an upgrade... Dont stick to something that ur gear irrespective of whatever you posses does the wonders.... We need to get along with the rapid changes and upgrade to multiply the business....

    There is one thing interesting me a lot: Does the Z6 suffer from light source-dependent focus shift with fast lenses as DSLRs do?
    I would expect so since the way of measuring (phase detect) is the same, but nor sure.

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  4 роки тому

      I have no idea what that is? What is that?

    • @Kruemelkraft
      @Kruemelkraft 4 роки тому

      @@CameraToFreedom It is a systematical back- or front-focus at fast apertures depending on the type of light source. e.g. when you calibrated your AF under daylight, you might have a focus shift indoors. I have observed this myself with my D7000 and a 35mm 1.8. Focus is behind the object with tungsten light, but is in front when I illuminate with LED light.
      Few is written about this phenomena. I only found this interesting article:
      bobatkins.com/photography/technical/focus_vs_light_source.html
      Also Nikon service confirmed that it's a known effect on DSLR focusing systems and that there is no workaround (except of using the AF fine-tune, which is not helpful because you never know exactly what's going on about the illumination, and because I can only use one value per lens, but would need at least two).
      Bob Atkings concluded that the amount if infrared created by the light source may be the controlling factor.
      Now, the question is if an on-chip phase-detect system can solve the problem or not (contrast-detect surely can).

I mostly shoot stills and have a website to show them, but I'm not a pro. I'm an older guy and have some very old Nikkor lenses I'd like to use with the Z6 and the FTZ adapter. Would you know if Nikon lenses from as far back as 1975 would work with the adapter? I have two great primes from '75 (both manual focus) that I'd love to be able to use again. I've been shooting with a D7100 and would love to move to mirrorless and full-frame all at once with the Z6. Again, really enjoyed your thoughts about the camera and I've subscribed!

      Thanks for your kind words! The older lens will work since it’s manual! The older autofocus lens won’t work since it needs to have the focus motor built into the lens like all the newer g lenses and others. The great thing about the z6 is it has focus peaking so with your manual lens, you’ll know you’re in focus cause the subject will turn red when it’s focused! You’ll have a better experience with those manual lens with the z6! I use manual lens on my z6 too! Good luck!

    The biggest downside of the camera is not having an SD slot at all, for photos I'd rather use an SD rather than a 200-250$ 64GB XQD. Yes, yes it's faster, bulkier bla bla bla. I had 0 issues with SD card since they got released. The bad thing it's the garbage battery life and the lack of sensor protection when there's no lens on. Also Pixel Shift would be a nice perk ( unusable in most cases ) but still it's so easy to implement.
    P.S. Not being able to copy something to the XQD card while in camera when connected to USB is plain retarded. I was so close to give up on Z6 because of these missing features

    nikon will only give us a side slip-out articulated screen
    only after 5 or 10 years when they are about to go bankrupt again … why because
    we have seen this again and again … this is nikon bad habit !

      Right now in Amazon, you can get the Nikon Z6 with the ftz adapter for $1850 and has the ability to shoot prores raw with $2000 upgrade with atomos. Sony A7iii, the direct competitor is $1800 and it doesn’t have an option to upgrade to shoot raw video. Fair price. Cheaper then how much I bought my D750 back then. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

    Well,you still need to carry more than one body with one card slot,so no redundancy.I am glad the 400 firmware updates fixed the AF for you,and that camera didnt suffer from the recall,from the recall giant,Nikon.Oh yeah,by the way,you can usually step down the resolution or there is a crop option,like with mine.Dude,MOST recent computers,with an i5 processor or better,you can easily edit and work with files,and there's no point in comparing 42MP files with Z6 24MP.Plus,looking at files does not take longer or tax computers,so i have no idea what that claim is about.Good luck with the Z series though,because Nikon went right back to making DSLRs,with the D780 and the upcoming D6.Why would you need an L Bracket when you said the body ergonomics were so great????huh???I'm getting a bit dizzy with the contradictions...

      michael s my wife has a 2015 MacBook that she edits with and the 42mp raw files takes few seconds to preview each photos so it seems like forever when she gets thousands of them to look through and edit.

      Ok,but it's not forever,it's a matter of minutes at best.It would be different if I worked NFL/pro boxing matches,and they needed to edit on the fly,tethered to the studio,or if it's a Nike photoshoot and you need it NOW,that's different.In those cases,when you're on that level,you're getting thousands of dollars per job,so you will have a monster workstation or they already will.
      When it comes to stills,I am not in a rush to shoot and I rarely do any post anyway,since I believe in getting it right in camera.That's exactly why I chose the camera i use,because it's perfect in being able to control the output.I have a 36MP FF camera,and it's a bit different than my 16MP APS-C,but it's not something that takes forever or thousands of dollars of a difference..
