Everybody talks about how George Strait has more number one hits than any country music artist ever… and that’s true! However, what is also true is the fact that Hank Williams wrote 36 number one hits in five years all on his own!! All on his own!! In 5 years! Unlike George Strait I like him just as much as the next guy I really do, but he is not anywhere near the greatest of all time like Hank Sr.!! 🤷♂️✌️🙏

GS although a great artist but Dean Dillion wrote majority of his songs - Hank wrote his own songs . It's irritating to me that on Hank's birthday and the anniversary of his death that Nashville doesn't acknowledge either of those days even as celebrations are held throughout the world by fans of Hank's. Passed away 72 years ago , the biggest funeral the south had seen until Elvis passed away in 77. Hank has influenced so many artists through the years and continue to do so - not bad for a poor kid from Alabama with a 4.5 year career. He continues to be Country Music's brightest star. Marty Stewart calls Hank country music's northern star..
I can tell by the way a couple of these fellows talk about him that Hank Williams upset the norm of Nashville. Saying he was good and driven but remembering more about Fred Rose’s influence on him than the man himself. Or not knowing what it was that drew people to him and gave him that presence on a stage. What he had was pure God-given talent to not only write great songs but to convey them in a way where you can FEEL what he’s singing about. The hurt, the pain, the joy and loss of love…he had it all. Certainly more soulful than “May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose.” No one equals Hank Williams. Not before and certainly not after. He’s the gold standard.

Only example needed is this, how many rock stars have you seen wear leather pants over the years? I’ll give you one guess who wore them first! Even Elvis had his Black Leather suit for his 1968 Comeback Special on TV designed to be as close to Jim Morrisons as possible!! Facts!!
He had spina bifida…See! Even the country legends that were around when he was around, aren’t fully educated before they start running their mouth about why he was on all that stuff! Yes, he absolutely did hurt his back in a hunting accident. However, he had already had back surgery and been diagnosed with spina bifida long before that accident. Facts!!
