Thank you soooo much! I had a small hole in the corner of a bedroom, and everything else I'd watched for fixing it were far more elaborate. You've saved me hours of struggle and purchasing excess lumber!
In my boiler room there are huge gaps round the pipes in the floorboards, near the wall, and unfortunately I have mice 🤢 You can plug the smaller gaps with wire and filler, but any idea for much bigger untidy gaps round pipes?
The best solution for large gaps is to attach (glue, nail or staple) a wire mesh like this to close up the gaps: amzn.to/3pLeia0 For smaller gaps, you can use steel wool: amzn.to/3R7r2U8 There's also rodent block spray foam, but looks like people have mixed success with this stuff, and should be combined with a metal mesh or steel wool: amzn.to/3AOs1U3
@@engineerable I don't know if you have any experience but can you do the same thing with pipes in the ceiling? Also behind the boiler? Without the very expensive task of removing the boiler, its hard to tell if there are any gaps there. Should I just spray some foam round the back on the floor and hope for the best that itll help block any out? 😂
you could make a trapezoid out of the piece going into the hole, and shave the edges of the hole on the sides to match that piece, and it'll plop in nicely. then of course use some kind of adherent.
@@engineerable She sure did. Now there’s a hole in the floor in the middle of a temperature drop. This should hold long enough to get us through until I can replace it
DUDE!! Absolute genius!! I thought I was gonna have to get under the house. Thank you thank you!!
THANK YOU!!!!! The only video i could find on this on youtube.

Glad this helped!
Awesome ingenuity! Thx for this trick!
This was very helpful and smart. Thanks so much for sharing. We moved a kitchen sink and needed an easy way to plug the holes. This worked very well.
You're welcome! Glad it worked well!
Thank you! I always wondered how they fix patched holes on the floor because in hvac the homeowner will change his mind once the hole is cut
Yep, also the same technique is used for patching drywall holes.
This is exactly what I need, thank you so much
Your welcome!
That's a VETERAN MOVE my guy!!! My observation, you have been doing this for a while. Very ingenious!!!!!
Really great !! Thanks!!!!
Thank you for this. Now my wife can leave me alone
I have a hole in my MDF floor at the corner edge next to the mitre skirting board which has a hole , so I have to replace that as well
Thank you!

Appreciate it, sir.

God bless! Just woke up to my idiot brothers dog chewing a hole into the floor and panicking cause I didn’t know how to fix it
It chewed all the way through the subfloor!?!

Filled -- yes. Fixed --????
Isn't that clever
Indeed it was.. Id hope to have thought of something this simple. 😁
