Hey thanks for inspiring me, I have been playing for 15 years but stuck into past classic rock Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Mettalica etc, Now wanting to play modern stuff so got my old Schecter diamond out and dropped the tuning and loving it. Love Nightwish BTW so thanks your guitar sound is awesome as is your playing Well Done! :-)
this is brilliant mate, just wondering how you do an open E power chord at 2.14 and make it sound so clean, when i do it i've got distortion because it's open? would love to hear your comments, i'm trying to add a guitar contribution on a site called bandhub and this is holding me back from submitting my part.
Honestly it sounds like it might be a problem with the guitar instead of your technique, if you can't find a way to fix it with your technique you might want to take it to a guitar doctor:3
it's not the best guitar, a westfield les paul (around £140), but all my fretted power chords sound ok, just the open E, your tone sounds perfect to the song so i'm assuming you have a decent guitar and setup, i am using a line 6 UX2 interface with an Empuu Vorieneen tone found on their website, are you palm muting it after every downstroke?
i think i may have solved it mate, just lightly touching the low e string after every downstroke fretting the a string just deadens the sound temporarily, a lot better, this way of playing is very new to me but very addictive!
***** Yeah, ive got alot of covers from oceanborn and wishmaster i want to do, but because those songs are recorded in E Standard, i would have to restring and re-set my floyd rose which is a pain.So ill probably buy new strings and block the bridge to do those few songs:) I got Over the hills, kinslayer, wishmaster, crownless, sacrament (recone in E) and gethsemane ready to record, and ill upload them until summer, promise :D

Some thing is wrong with your trem if you bridge goes out when you use it as the bridge should not. When you have a trem you should know every thing you can possibly know about it or just not use it, I am talking from past experience since the 70's when they first came out.
Yea:P This was my first guitar and all i knew was "I want a floating trem!" It came pretty apparent that it wasnt about fine tuning the bridge, it was just that the floyd rose special was such poor quality it couldnt stay in tune. I'm now a happy owner of a floyd rose original (on my ev) and an ibanez edge (jem), and they both work perfectly:)
UA-cam recommended me this at 2023 exactly 10 years later... The overall Quality is insane for that era of yt !!!

Definately sounds like a problem with the guitar, i have a similar problem with my EV too. With nightwish i use alot of palm muting
