I could tell it was partial liver, minimum. Also the vena cava is in play as well. Not perfect but none of us are. If you hunt archery, it's not a matter of if, but when we have a marginal shot. Backing out is the right call in those situations. I got the first archery buck ever in our family. My grandpa helped me hang him on the meat pole and helped skin it as well. He was so interested in seeing what the broadhead did on the deer. He was so excited, called everyone he knew. He said if he was younger, (84 at the time) he would have liked to try it. He enjoyed fresh liver and heart that night and was so proud. I won't ever forget that moment in time!!
Your aunt K. is pretty proud of ya too as she also sent me a pic of you and this bruiser! You all had a great season over there in Cylmer. Nice deer and great job tracking him down.
I’ve just recently started watching your videos and I’m from upstate New York. It’s definitely a challenge getting big bucks around here because there’s no antler restrictions so a lot of guys shoot very young bucks, or the first buck to walk past. Congrats!
I’m commenting before I see the conclusion & I think this is a good shot. He didn’t suffer & I’ll bet you’ll find him in the first bed. Congratulations Cliff. Great buck. 👍👍
Congrats Clifford...you guys do a great job finding that buck.one thing it teaches people to be patient and take your time and you can be successful. Congrats again
Congratulations on getting one of your list bucks!!!! Are those beeman arrows you are using???? 172lbs is a good weight for a buck his age. Congrats again and keep up the good work!!!!!!
Well I got it right. You cut the Bach of both lungs it was just a touch back. Yeah he was dead within 5 minutes !! Great hunt great shop and great recovery. Suggestion start bringing your dog !! Labs are great recovery dogs the more you take him the more he learns that’s what you’re looking for !! I started taking mine on easy tracks where I double lunged with bow. I intentionally started shooting a little back where they bleed well !!! Now he finds every deer at the camp. Haven’t lost one in six years and have recovered 41 to date. A couple we would not have found without Widgeon !! That’s his name !!
Congratulations Cliff, it also amazes me how they duck just before that arrow hits them, I have never hunted with a bow. Do they hear the arrow or see it, or what ?
Congrats on a great buck! once you slowed the shot down i thought you might of caught atleast one lung. glad ya caught both, did you also hit liver? or just straight lung?
i live in the southern tier in between auburn, ny and Ithaca, n.y. i only have a small area to hunt but im out there every year havnt got a deer in years id say 5 years the area was over hunted but im hoppen each year it comes back
I haven't Hunted more than 15 years now. All my friends are gone. Miss bow hunting still have my license but have not renewed it. See the boat only wish I was still hunting. Hunt on brother Hunt on peace out.
I feel your pain about no hunting Buddies but don’t quit. Some of my hunting buddies have passed on but most have just quit. I am now 75 and still hunting deer in the National Forest in Virginia. I miss the Buddies but let me tell you, the hunting got better. I hunt 1 mile back in and killed the biggest buck of my life in 2018 with a muzzleloader. Killed at 9:15 am and got it to my truck at 4:30 pm. Then I couldn’t load it myself. A kind hearted hunter on his way home stopped and helped me. I love the solitude of the National Forests. Buddies take away some of that solitude. I was spent till I got that buck to the truck but the satisfaction was beyond belief. Good hunting Friend.
Good job. He's a dandy. Thanks for weighing him. Awesome scale too. I'm glad we're not the only one's that have the multiflora rose to deal with. Not good to step over, it always gets you between the legs.
Good job!! 👍Roughly 30 years ago done the same shot at 30 yds on my 145 5/8 buck. One lung it got on exit. Went about 200 yds. Glad the coyotes didn't get it. Here in Minnesota dang Timber Wolves would of ate overnight. Jeff :)
The grandparents segment is priceless. I used to do that. My daughter always does it now. I don't have video but my favorite photo of my mom is my daughter showing her a trophy turkey. Last photo of my mom before cancer took her. Thanks for such awesome video.
That was a true liver shot. He went maybe 100 yards 150 max. Not a great shot but a lethal one for sure. Again love the videos. We all make marginal shots. It’s called archery. God bless brother. Good buck. Congrats Cliff.
Congrats to both you and your old lady on 2 great bucks this season! Loved seeing how proud you were that you took him to both your grandparents to show... keeps it real to see that your a "average Joe" hunter on our level. and appreciate the shot placement autopsy. Keep up with the great videos!

Great video happy to see you share a moment with your Grandparents
Great looking buck bro
Nice deer
Congratulations on a nice buck
Damn 50 yards is a hell of a distance for a bow man even if you a pulling 80 pounds that's stretching it I wouldn't shoot anything past 45
Congratulations I knew you got him great job you did the right thing by not going after him the night you shot him when in doubt back out.
