Note: if pre-treating, then washing doesn’t remove a stain on silk, take it to your dry cleaners right away. They have techniques and solvents we consumers don’t and they’ve always been able to help. But, take them in as soon as possible, within a day or two, the longer stains set, the less likely it is that they can be completely removed. Silk does have a high affinity for greasy and protein stains, my usual culprit is my lipbalm, which I somehow get on my hands occasionally. I’ve had good success treating them with commercial, enzymatic pre-treatment products like Spray and Wash or Shout, even though using enzymatic products on silk frequently is not recommended. Using a warm wash temperature helps, too. I have some stained items that I couldn’t take to the cleaners during the my long pandemic lockdown, 2-1/2 years, I hope they can perform their usual miracles, but it’s probably been far too long. I forgot about them until recently, but still, it’s worth a try.

I used to track the outfits I wore with the Stylebook app., but I haven’t kept my wardrobe inventory up-to-date. Because of weight loss, most of the clothes in my inventory are now gone and I have so many replacements and other new things to add. I altered what I could , but clothes can only be sized down so much before they lose their shape or details. Fir example, garments with pockets can’t be narrowed much without cutting to close, or through, the pockets. It was my stupid perfectionism that caused me to stop keeping my Stylebook wardrobe inventory; I was measuring and putting in every detail like the rise, inseam and leg opening of all my trousers, for example. This will be a good winter project for me this year, I can’t handle lots of clothes when it’s as hot as our current 35C temperatures. This time I have to control my nitpicking tendency, a former boss was right when he told me it might drive me nuts. Older and, I hope, wiser this time around. It has been difficult to let go of so many high-quality items that I love, but my weight loss has been unintentional, gradual and apparently, permanent. It’s just from aging, I suppose, I’m in my 60s.

Perhaps another option if you want to track, would be to generalise the items (ie. using descriptors only), so you can see what you are wearing lots of, and easily identify the TYPE of items you might be missing rather than tracking the wear of specific pieces. As when you think about it, the item is really performing a function more so than anything right?

I have the Quince silk skirt in almost every color. They are perfect, comfortable, airy, soft, well-fitting and they always look beautiful. The price of $60 US is incredible. I’m hoping they’ll introduce some patterns some day and offer solid white and pink, too, the colors I still need for my wardrobe. These are my most daily-worn items, they feel so great year-round. I love the feeling of them on my legs and the swishy, feminine feel as I walk in them. Skirts and dresses are my go-to, especially silk ones, the best fabric for my hypersensitive skin. I just add tall boots for winter and maybe a cashmere sweater, trench coat or blazer (mild California climate). I find silk very easy to care for, I just use reasonable care when eating or drinking, or cooking, when I always wear a full apron, anyway. I love silk also because it never needs ironing after that one initial time to get the deeply-set packing and shipping creases out. I just wash all my silk items in the hand-wash cycle of my machine, then hang dry (flat for silk jersey, my favorite fabric ever, but hard to find).

Hi! Curious if the Quince skirt is the maxi length or not? It seems to fit you more like the maxi version does on the Quince model but wanted to check before I order one!

Love all the items you featured. Not surprised if they are your most worn.
What size do you get in the Monica vinader bangle? Is it easy to slide on? I've had issues with bangles previously..

Thank you! One thing I've realised at this point is there's such a strong through line with the items I do wear every season the most. And I love seeing many of my favourites pop up year in and year out :D
For the bangle I have size M and I find it easy to get on/off but you do need to make sure that the larger angled side is face up closest to your thumb when putting it on (if that makes sense? - the other way it can feel too tight/small when trying to squeeze your hand in)
