Solid little demo Robin, really gives a good idea of the sonic palette available. Thank you Love Dreadbox gear, I have the Nyx2, Erebus v3 and some of their White Line modules. - Somehow Dreadbox gear seems to always push me towards retro, Radiophonic Workshop type territory, which is no bad thing.
this demo is the most "the orb: pommez fritz / orbvs terrarvm" i ever seen !!!!! now... who want to build one for me? i can do midi cables at my best....
Face-palming myself for not picking one of these up. {sigh}... I did not foresee the astounding variety of sounds this could generate. Nice demo Robin.
I got the typhon and maybe Nemesis next If wasn’t so scared of DIY kits I would definitely check these out I wish they made a fully assembled version though
that's what I'm doing after this video I found a guy for 75$ to put it together I wanted to get the Korg XD but I'll wait because this is dope yo I love the sound s! just found out about dread box gear before of this video! also hey Robin if you feel to get rid of any gear hit a brother up!🕉️🌞😆
FYI from the manual the velo out on the sequencer needs to be patched to something (fm/cut/etc) for it to do anything. and in live mode it will record your sliding motions.
@@barrierloss weird, I already picked one up but its sold out on dreadbox site, although they did say they'd be releasing it pre built in the future. But also was curious and checked perfect circuit and dont see it listed.
Hey Robin - does the main “Tune” knob do anything? I finally got my Dysmetria working and that’s the biggest knob on there and it is the one thing that doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ve also never seen a single demo of this on anyone’s channel including Dreadbox’s own videos where anyone ever touches this knob even one time. Does it work for anyone? Why did they make it like THE knob on the synth? I am so puzzled and wondering if I am missing out on something.
Yep, it should work. Shifting the pitch of both oscillators as you'd expect. Check soldering on the pot connections, but I guess you've done a lot of that (it's a really bad board for dry joints as I think Robin points out in the build vid).
@@livelooper Interesting. I'm afraid to monkey with it anymore in fear that I will mess something else up that is working, so I might just live without. I keep wondering why it's the biggest knob, but no one seems to use it in performances. Like randomly tuning both at the same time seems like such an odd, niche thing that one might not be so prone to doing very often, but maybe I am missing something? I feel like the cutoff would have made so much more sense there, but what do I know...
This is not a beginner project... Get a pair of easy modules first to lear the basic cause you could butch Dysmetria easily. AI does nice beginners modules
@@ZElTGElST thanks for the recommendation. I looked at the AI modules, but it doesn't look like they really have anything that would actually be of added value in my system. I will see if I can find any other locally available, affordable and simple kits.
@@iwanwesterduin FREQUENCY central has some begginers kits iirc. Whatever, in the worst case get a resistor learning kit first in ebay!. really you need some experience to build this
@@ZElTGElST thanks again for replying. Unfortunately, shipping from the UK to Europe is not really viable anymore. It is too costly due to import taxes and takes too much time. I'll keep searching for a western Europe based supplier of diy kits. Edit: found some simple, locally available learning kits that are very cheap. I'll probably buy a few of those to get a hang on soldering some transistors.
i finished mine in three intense soldering sessions and i soldered something wrong, tried to unsolder and did pretty much mess things up. i did solder with a way too big tip, worked for most parts, but on some it sucked, my small soldering tip was unfortunately not working as the heat did not completely go into the very tip point of the tip. i still decided to finish soldering it and got it actually working, but i know that i messed something with the AMP / and filter. i did watch robins video and i get weird noise and artifacts when i start with the first few sonic tests. some stuff is working, but im almost on the verge of tears, as i realized that i put tons of hours and sweat into this and really cannot fix the mess i caused. side- info. i completely soldered and tuned the dysphonia and it is a rocksolid build. the dysmetria though is really a hard nut compared to it. there is literally so much more to solder and figure out and you really need to be on high concentration. overall i am allowed to say, that my soldering skills increased ALOT , but messing this one here up really hurts. still, i am obsessed with all this synth soldering DIY stuff and especially after hearing this demo here - the dysmetria is a really amazing little analogue synth beatbox there. i suggest, try at least ONE easy DIY build before you start with this one here. dont go mad on sitting like 6 hours and insanely solder like crazy without real breaks, because you aint doing yourself any good with this. i guess everyone has to learn. nonetheless. i wish you good luck with the build and just do it slowly, step by step. robin here has by now soldered an insane amount of modules and has a good hand for also smaller soldering spots with less space. its a process ,with experience comes the confidence and i know, my next build will be soldered with less pressure and more "coolness". sorry for the long text. hope it helps.
Ahhh. Go into Live Mode. Hold "Shift" (aka NEXT) and then Tempo control will let you multiply the tempo. Pretty sure that's not in the manual, although time divisions are hinted elsewhere.

It is! I almost wish I'd got one.
Sounds perfect for communicating with the soup dragon

Great demo! Mines sitting on my desk waiting to be built, can't wait to feed it through the lyra
Great demo. Really enjoy this!
Great Demo! My Kit ist still in the Box. Maby this Weekend....
Thanks for this awesome demo on the Dysmetria and for all your amazing content!

My kit arrived today! Bring on the noise. This may be too bleep/bloop for some, but it looks like too much fun imo.
The Bleep-Bloop is strong in this one 😁

Dreadbox absolutely should have had you make their demo video, I would have picked one of these up had I seen this nice work!
you definitely still can! directly though them or through Perfect Circuit for cheaper weirdly!

I have bought one. It is still sitting in the box. I'm a bit nervous about building it as I have literally zero experience soldering.
