I always find myself coming back to this series. The atmosphere of the videos is so inviting, and Chris is certainly someone who has been around the flippers all his life. He always has great tales to tell about the machines! He should consider rebooting this series now that his collection has seen major changes since 2011! Fantastic videos, Chris!
Just wanted to point out that if anybody wanted to play some of the games Chris is reviewing there's a game called 'pinball hall of fame: the williams collection' out that has 'whirlwind', 'taxi', 'funhouse', 'mideival madness', and 'no good gofers'. I tried it out solely based on these pinball reviews, and have been really enjoying it.
I once tilted a game, everything shut down and went silent, and the ball drained away. Then Rudy reprimanded me: "Hey, it's only a game." It made my blood run cold.
Most memorable pinball ever, for me anyway. We lived at the Embassy Suites in Colorado Springs for a couple of months long ago, and they had Funhouse. We had such a blast playing it.
I played some pinball titles in the 80's. But Funhouse is when it offically turned from casual into an obsession. 'I'm going to the arcade' turned into "i'm going to play pinball'. I started seeking pins in 7-11s and pizza places. Williams kept a steady stream of incredible titles on the ready. Addams came out I thought my head would explode. I can play them at home, but playing in the wild when they were new and innovative is an experience hard to convey unless you were there. Take care,
I LOVE pinball machines! They are such a beautiful work of engineering and art, full of dazzling colors, lights and action! Eye candy! All the crazy sounds and little music bits are so much fun too!
To think originally they were wooden boxes with nothing but a plunger, marble sized balls, and tiny pegs. I got to play a Bagatelle Bingo, and it was like going back in time. Then someone (or a group of people) thought of the pinball we have today, with all of that engineering.
Rudy always scared me. He's just creepy! I was always afraid if he said "I'm not happy" or "That's not funny" one too many times, a full dummy would bust out of the machine and strangle me like Chucky.
Today I downloaded a free Pinball simulator on my Xbox One, and I got to play a beautifully put together digital version of this amazing machine. I know it's utter sacrilege, but it's so well put together, the sounds are all there and it's probably the closest I'll ever get to playing this piece of my childhood again.
FunHouse and Addams Family are my two favorite pinball machines 1) because they are fun, and 2) when I was a kid in Albuquerque, my dad who has since passed away, would take me to the movies and we would go to the arcade next to the theater before the movie started and he’d give me $5 of $10. I’d go play NBA Jam or Mortal Kombat, he’d go play pinball. Eventually, I started playing too and realized this pinball machine was awesome.
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
We had this at a convenience store right across from my high school. We would play every morning while getting jacked up on cigarettes and coffee before school, I loved this game!
Loved Funhouse 30 years ago. Played at a local Festival Game Palace if I remember, we were mostly playing Cyberball or Cyberball Tournament but Funhouse was the favorite pinball machine. Good lord time goes by.
Just played this for the first time this weekend at my buddy's place. So cool! After a few games, I managed to post 22 million or so. Hard machine. Really ruthless. I loved it.
Great machine, great review! Yeah maybe you do repeat yourself often about where you played your machines but its actually good to hear. The background history and your relationship with the machines is one of the main reasons I watch your pin clips. I never actually played any pinball machines growing up (being born in 1990) but I'm quite the fanatic now I actually see them for what they are. Great games! Thanks again Chris.
Ahhh Funhouse, I always remember seeing this one at the Arcades in the Chicago-land area. A great game and one of the more iconic tables from my childhood.
@theRVGN I haven't picked one up in years. They are all in storage. So........ha ha, as of now........not at all. But, back then, a couple a year (give or take). I have had about fifty come and go over the years :) Thanks for watching!!!
The one and only Best Pinball Machine of all time. I followed the one in my town around also. When I found it I was a regular wherever it went. Last place it wound up (that I could find) was a head shop/record store. Only money I spent there was a quarter at a time. They had pinball machines in the store where Mom worked. My fav was Ballys Fireball when Funhouse replaced it I was pissed till my first play and I hit Rudy in the mouth. I laughed so hard the ball dropped and I didn't even mind. I could have bought that machine with all the quarters I dropped in it. Wish I had.
@tiakpark Pinball Magic is a GREAT game. I definitely want to snag one of those when I get back into the collecting-thing. Their first release and they hit it out of the park. Ha ha. Junkyard is fun also. I don't currently have either of those at the time. Thanks for watching.
My all-time favorite pin. At one time I had all four high scores on the machine at my favorite arcade in Hamilton, NJ. The thing I loved was when the machine would sing after a high score was achieved. Wish there was a video of that. It was rare to make that machine sing. You knew you'd owned it when you heard the special endgame sounds.
@woodcreekholdings Oh goodness.....that is the question! There are not many places anymore who have them. If you look online, a lot of people make "lists" of where games are currently on location (in NYC there are a bunch of places). But, it's dwindling. Thanks for watching!!!
There is a secret door behind Rudy's head. Use the plunger to hit the ball. If you have the feel for it, you can get the ball stuck behind his head where the secret door is. I played this game all the time when I was a kid; best pinball game ever.
@NickInfante92 It is quite amazing. The talent guy is truly is. :) I'm also glad Lawlor's daughter named the dummy....'cause....it suits him perfectly! Thanks for watching!
When I picked up "Pinball Hall of Fame, the Williams Collection" for Xbox awhile back, this is the game I played over and over. I know almost nothing about pinball, but this one's really neat.
This one pulls at my heartstrings as well and the Adams family. They had the two at the NCO club courthouse Bay North Carolina back in 1993. I haven't played fun house since then however the sound of the game makes it just like yesterday.
All of the games I own are amongst my favorite (which is why I purchased them). So yes...you will definitely hear that in pretty much every single video. :) Thanks for watching.
Dude, this passion is awesome and we can feel your love for it. i only have a virtual pin cabinet but still i have great pleasure remembering the old times. so i can imagine what you feel mervelous
@densming I had a TZ project game at one time. I will probably get TZ at some point (when I can startup the collection again). But, TZ is actually not as big of a favorite of mine as it is most collectors. But.......don't tell anyone that (shhhh!). Oh wait....public forum! HA HA! Thanks for watching!
I have owned Funhouse now for a year and thoroughly enjoy every game...got the Rudy topper (holding the clock) from Argentina of all places. Also, I think I have the only one in Thailand where I live!
@Elevendy5Productions Ha ha. Well....the extra ball light could be a lot of things (faulty bulb socket, bad bulb, flaky wiring to the socket). You might just have to do some tracing and see if you have a bad connection to it down the line somewhere. You know? As for the ball getting stuck, I had the "same" issue with mine until I picked up the replacement ramp. But, maybe take some metal "washers" and put them under the screws toward the top to "raise" the ramp a bit?
There's this pinball and arcade seller in PA that has an infomercial where he talks all about this game and the restoration involved in it. It was pretty cool seeing all the ins and outs of what makes that game work. The company is called TNT Amusements. They got thousands of pinballs and arcades
Another awesome video. Thank you for your effort. There was a tiny pinball-arcade in the building where I used to live. Even though they had Funhouse I never played it. I was very poor at the time and I was enormously fond of Monster Bash. Whenever I had a handful of coins to spare; it went right into Moster Bash. Can't say that I regret missing out on that game because I cherish those memories just as they are. Pinball is dead in Sweden however so I'll probably never get the chance to play it
Great video Chris! In a time when everything is all HD graphics and video, Pinball takes me back to time long before gaming consoles. Thanks for sharing this Pinball Gem.
Rudy scared me because well at an arcade on the Hampton beach Boardwalk the machine wasn't being played but his eyes were open and his eyes followed me all the way to the 2 machines to the left, which were twilight and Adams family. In stead I put my coin in Adams family. Shoulda done FUNHOUSE!
I actually used to have a Putt-Putt Golf and Games near me. It was bought out by Putt-4-Fun in the mid-2000s, and it closed in 2011 when the owner was caught not paying taxes and such on the place. It's now sitting there, slowly rotting away. Apparently the city will raze the mini-golf portion sometime this summer.
@MAMECADE Ha! I used to play G and the Gators at the Harborcreek Mall near my house. I always thought it was a unique little machine (with Baby Pac-Man also). Would love to see you do vids also.......Thanks for watching!
The eyes moving slowly back to the center position seems like it would fit well for some sort of creepy haunted/sentient pinball machine story, leading very much to the notion of "the game is watching".
@djchozen91 For search purposes I like to put the name of the game "first" in the UA-cam Title Description because (depending on what browser you are using to watch UA-cam) I have noticed that the full title often gets cut off. I would rather someone see the name of the game than the part we are currently on.
I noticed Earthshaker right next to Funhouse. Reminds me of a pinball game that fuses all the great aspects of Funhouse with all the great aspects of Earthshaker called Roadshow; my favorite pinball game of all time and one I'd die to play for real again if I had the chance. I haven't seen a real one since it left the local arcade almost 15 years ago.
"FunHouse" - featuring Ed Boon as Rudy the talking doll. Like I needed another reason to like Ed "Get over here!" Boon besides Mortal Kombat. I never liked plating pinball, but some of the more interactive machines were really fun to watch. It is pretty funny that Ed Boon did the funny voices on several of the William's machines.
I remember this,i used to play Funhouse during vacation in 1996 :} I really love these Pinball videos,they`re always very informative and fun to watch,Mr.Pat Patton must see you as his No.1 fan :}

Well I worked for an amusement park in 91 the game was 6 months old at that point the manager for the arcade would give me unlimited plays during my lunch to play as soon as I was done he said there would be a line for fun house. I can’t eat a hot dog without him playing in my head. Rudy is the reason for the boon in pinball in the early 90s
Rudy is like some spin-off horror movie character to me. He can somehow follow your ball which just makes it even sketchy and he speaks in a awkward way.

Then Rudy reprimanded me: "Hey, it's only a game."
It made my blood run cold.
" Hey ,It's only pinball
"It's only a game. Why you have to be mad?"
You know who does the voice of Rudy? Ed Boon. Yes, THAT one.
Ed Boon who went on to do Mortal Kombat
@@1Soniccool TOASTY!
@@LAZERLUKE109 That would actually be Dan Forden who said that line.

My machine kept eating the jaw gear, so I added a resistor in line with the jaw motor and now its works great!

Just bought Funhouse on pinball fx3, so fun ✌🇺🇸
I'm so very lucky my dad bought pinball machines during the 90's and this just so happens to be one that we have. I absolutely love it.
Another great review Chris, and this is one of my favs as well. Well done.
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..?

@Gamester81 Thanks John! Great seeing you at Pax! Thanks for watching!
@Croooow111 I know what you mean. I had Funhouse on my list the minute I began collecting. Ha ha.

Excellent!! Thanks for watching.
I love how you have video from playing. Nice documentation of your pin addiction! Cheers
It has been released in the pinball fx3 videogame as an expansion to other existing tables. So I was looking for footage of the real table. Thanks
This one pulls at my heartstrings as well and the Adams family. They had the two at the NCO club courthouse Bay North Carolina back in 1993. I haven't played fun house since then however the sound of the game makes it just like yesterday.
There used to be an adams machine at my family's bar... good times playing that game on free play.

I loved playing this game. Rudy was hilarious. He was scary, sarcastic, mean. So addictive and a fun game to master too. Plus we share the same name.

The only pinball I would make a special trip to play. A few 7-11s had them and moved them occasionally. Very entertaining game.
@defset Excellent!!!!!!! Thanks for watching!
Totally. Thanks for watching!
I have owned Funhouse now for a year and thoroughly enjoy every game...got the Rudy topper (holding the clock) from Argentina of all places. Also, I think I have the only one in Thailand where I live!

@mrfuzzer1 Not too big. The basement is decent size...but this was the old house. Games all in storage now.
@mindlessjoza Oh...it can get quite expensive. All depends on what title you pick up. You know? Hard to really pinpoint....
Thanks for watching!
Great machine thank you for sharing. I played this 1 relentlessly in 1990 at Chanute AFB Tech. School Rantoul, Ill .

Amazing pinballs indeed ;)
@clays121 Thanks for watching as always! :)
I usually get them from other collectors. A LOT of driving. Ha ha. Thanks for watching.
He can actually swallow the ball numerous times in the game, if you time the shot just right. "What was that?" :) Thanks for watching!
@pocketmego Thanks for watching!
@imakeituptoyou I do not have a Bride, no. Great game though. I always liked it. :)

I can’t eat a hot dog without him playing in my head. Rudy is the reason for the boon in pinball in the early 90s
Rudy is like some spin-off horror movie character to me. He can somehow follow your ball which just makes it even sketchy and he speaks in a awkward way.
