I grew up listening to my fathers vinyl record's of Billys music and comedies. To us Scots he is a national treasure. One of the greatest comedians ever to have graced this beautiful yet dark world

Truly one the world's greatest comedians. Loved him. Greetings from Oz, my Grandpop was from Scotland so we're probably cousins :).

This is so weird, I was born the year this was filmed, in Scotland and I then immigrated with my parents to Australia when I was 5. Finding this clip at 43 is just mad. Love it.

My first memories of hearing my own Scots language (outwith everyday life) were from Billy's vinyl record 'Get Right Intae Him' (1975). I had never heard it on tv or a record before that, as at school we were always taught that how we spoke was wrong: "It's not 'aye,' it's 'yes'!" VERY confusing for a child. I used to listen when my mum was out of earshot, as Billy saying "jobbie" etc was obviously not allowed at my young age, but all the more exciting for it. National treasure gets said too much for all sorts, but he genuinely is. Love the man.

I love his comedy. His mind. He is a genius in his own right. Comedy is your own way of seeing people and situations...Sir William is indeed a National Treasure...
We are all better people for his being here. Ty for sharing him with the world.

I bought my Wellingtons in Scotland for traipsing around the moors 30 years ago. Still have them but little use in San Jose California.

Wellies were a big part of childhood for most of us in the 1960s and the first thing you did when you got outside was make straight for as big a puddle as you could find, especially if they were new wellies. In the summer, we wore what we called “gutties” which my mother called sand shoes. They were very light, soft mostly black canvas shoes that, after wearing wellies all winter, putting on a pair of gutties made you feel like you could run like the wind.

That was the year I went to a disco with my best ever Canadian real rubber wellingtons with real wool felt liner . I miss those wellies. Lasted at least 12 years. Around 30 years later I gate crashed a posh wedding in my Argyl wellies and had a special shout-out by the band. I volunteered to take a friend of the groom, who had cycled over here to Wales from Ireland for the occasion, to the the wedding on my Honda 90. A misunderstanding about the location meant it was too far to ride there, so we hitch hiked for the bulk of the trip. Another misunderstanding was that the wedding reception was going to be in a field, presumably laid-back, folksy like. Turned out it was a marquee with chandeliers on a field of a posh estate. Most fun wedding I ever attended.
Waders can double up as a low energy and low water consumption bathtub. Get inside and pour in some warm water. You can soak whilst lounging in front of the TV or at the dinner table - where ever you like, really. Not tried it yet, but sure it would work.
