Okay I don't believe I've ever played anything worked on by Yukio Futatsugi, but I have a lot of respect for him actually making such an effort to "solve the mystery of cats". What a legend.

I hope that Junko Mimori somehow finds this video (hopefully through Yukio) and feels overjoyed that someone out there noticed and appreciated her little easter egg which she probably just left there not thinking that someone would actually be able to see it, and feels touched by how this stranger who is a huge fan of the game cared so much about her cat and went to such lengths to identify and memorialize it. i love that you brought closure to yourself and all of us of how much this cat was loved and how it lived a long happy life full of love and that we have the evidence for it. R.I.P Hyanyan. and thanks for solving this bittersweet mystery, kudos to you ♡
The name Zyoko was in the credits. It was the map 3d artist SATO Joko. Sometimes Japanese people use Z instead of J when referring to the characters じ , じゃ, and じょ (ji, ja and jo)

I was prepared to hear that the cat had passed away 10 years ago or whatever but… 2 years? Its a shame we got there just a little late, but I’m glad we all know about Hyanyan now
Sad and sweet. Hyanyan's picture is indeed everywhere. Not just all over that shop but it's in every copy of this game, everywhere. And thanks to Nick we know Hyanyan was loved and well cared for and her memory will remain for generations.
Dude, I cried. I knew there was a chance Hyanyan wasn't around anymore, but hearing she wasn't just sent a pain through my heart. May she always be remembered ❤️
I'm imagining Mimori having a long day at work and putting Hyanyan's photo in the game to make herself and her coworkers smile. Now that photo is making all of us smile. Look at that expression! What an excellent cat! By the way, for those who don't know Japanese, "Hyanyan" is a bit like naming a cat Yeowmeow.
That's the great thing we don't realize at times about older media. You'd think "Well, I don't wanna bother those that worked on this. They're either too old to care about some young guy like myself, they're probably gonna be annoyed by bringing up something that probably caused them a lot of stress in development, or they're probably way past that project now and either have forgotten stuff about it or would prefer to spend their time on something else other than reminiscing on it". But, I think it's clear that based on Nick's videos that a looot of people truly truly loved the projects that they worked on, and most of all; they're absolutely willing to reminisce on the time they spent, especially since most of the stuff Nick views are like a decade or even older. No doubt that the people he contacts are gonna be willing to help him out if they have the time, 'cuz who wouldn't wanna get an opportunity to look back on some great history, and some great moments in one's life as a developer, artist, etc. Heck, I'm sure down the line, if Nick ever decides to leave this channel (we never know, I hope he doesn't do so soon though! I doubt it, anyways), he'll probably be delighted as well to have someone talk to HIM about the videos he made on here. It's an awesome kind of cycle where people appreciate their work, and also appreciate being called on to reminisce about it.
Massive props to you choosing to respect Mimori-san's feelings and not bothering her about her dead cat. I know I personally wouldn't mind, and I would love to share any stories I had, but most people aren't like that. Pets are loved just as much as family, because they are family. And when they're gone it's just as sad. Rest in peace, Hyanyan.
My dog died in 2021 and ever since I'm avoiding seeing his pictures, even though he's been the thing I've loved the most in my life, so yeah, massive props for Nick for his sensibility :)
Yukio is a legend. A random stranger asks him a question that he could easily give an answer that is "probably true" and be done with it. No, he took the time to find the true answer to the question.
It's great to know Hyanyan lived a long life. I lost my lovable furball a year and a half ago due to cancer after 20 years. Just goes to show how long a cat, or well, any pet can live when they have a loveable home.
I just had to put my cat to sleep after 21 years. I miss you, Mochi. 😞 I'm glad your kitty got a long life with you, too. I'm sure they were happy with you.
My black cat, Kona, also just recently passed away from intestinal cancer after 16 years. We rescued her (and her litter of 6 kittens, who all went to different homes) from under our deck in the middle of winter when I was in middle school. She was around 2 years old then, and we didn't think that she'd ever warm up to us (as cats at that age and after giving birth are NOT usually human-friendly) but she very quickly became a polite (yet ever-hungry) little fuzzball. She had some boundaries (picking her up was pretty much her big no-no) but she'd let you bury your face in her floof while she was resting in her nest on top of the couch. I'm a voice actor, so I used my recording equipment to immortalize her purrs and her meows. I'm very fortunate to have saved such an ethereal part of her.
Some Japanese artists seem to really love their cats. Lieji Matsumoto put his own cat, Mii-kun, in various series he worked on, and even dedicated an OVA about his cat. There's also the manga What's Michael, created by Makoto Kobayashi, that is about a cat and is inspired by his cat named Hogan Kobayashi. You can see a picture of his cat in the back of one of the new collections for What's Michael. Pretty neat!
One of favorite “horror” manga is literally Junji Ito going through his ownership with cats. ❤️ And for someone who’s owned many cats in my life, it’s the funniest and truest things that I’ve read and I HIGHLY recommended it! It’s called “Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu” if anyone wants to read it! 🐱
@@lvlupproductions2480 theres a difference between implying mutual exclusivity and commenting on the quantity of japanese artists that put their cats into their art. a whole lot of them do, so did the ancient egyptians, so do lots of people around the world today.
The fact this guy takes an extremely obscure piece of media, and uncovers the story behind it starting with the littlest detail ever, is absolutely incredible. You really know how to build suspense. I may have not known what Phantom Dust was, but a 16+ year easter egg put in the game to commemorate a cat is just heartwarming. Rest in peace, Hyanyan. You will forever be loved. edit: holy shit over 300 likes?? thank you all!
I laughed out loud once we finally learned Hyanyan's name, because its just so perfectly punny. And then I yelled out loud and proceeded to cry shortly afterward. Rest in peace Hyanyan, you lived a long, well-loved life.
I lost my 21 year old cat Apollo back in 2020, and during a Microsoft Teams call for class, since the school told us that every call will be recorded and archived forever, I snuck tons of photos of him into my projects whenever I'd stream and sure enough the school ended up noticing and putting him on our bulletin board the first week of the next school year. He was next to a bunch of other people's pets that were seen and shared throughout the pandemic, only that I realized all of theirs were alive and mine wasn't. I miss Apollo everyday, he was a beautiful Siamese who loved to snuggle and eat whip cream 💖
I will forever be jealous of the ease of portmantous and puns in the Japanese language. The fact that the name of the cat has nyan in it is so sweet and cool.
The feeling I get from looking at the cat, a sad feeling of despair. It’s so sweet that the designer left her cat there to live forever. It’s so sweet.
R. I. P. Hyanyan. We might've never knew Hyanyan existed, but they lived a long happy live. Mimori-san is probably really sad that her cat is gone, but at least Hyanyan might be friends with all the pets we have lost. R. I. P. Hyanyan, we hope you are doing amazing in the afterlife.
To be immortalized in media like this that a lot of people cherish is so special. It's another part of why data preservation is so important. It keeps the small and simple, yet impactful things in memory, whether that's active memory or something just waiting to be seen by someone who will be affected by it.
@@ethanwasme4307 "a lot" doesn't necessarily have to be anything substantial. enough people liked the game for it to get a PC port recently, so i think that qualifies, even if most people don't know about it.
Not to diminish this mystery, but I think you could literally make anything glued-to-your-seat riveting to learn about if it has even the slightest hint of mystery to it - you're very very good at this.
This could be really short Did you know there’s an image of a cat in this Xbox game? The HD rerelease lets us notice this cat. I got in contact with the head of the game, he revealed the name and owner of the cat. It’s drawn out in Nick’s video, but I don’t think I’d have it any other way.
being a person who truly loves animals, this one got me at the end. of COURSE it would be the case, but still makes you feel that longing for a friend long passed...
Did not expect to come out of this video bawling my eyes out. What a warm yet bittersweet story. Hyanyan, and that little picture of him have earned a place in my heart.
@Safwaan Yeah, I just think you should use an image that is available and the nearest to the source image. You could also not use an image and just a note about the cat.
This video actually made me cry. My family has had cats for more than half my life now and I am quickly approaching 20 years old. I have already had 2 cats die on me, two sisters from the same litter died within a week of each other and I was devastated. Now we have 2 more adult cats and we just got a foster baby. She was a rescue, found under pretty not great circumstances, and even now when she is eleven weeks old, I am so scared that she is just going to die on us. I think that seeing something so immortal about the life and love of someone’s cat really got to me. Thanks, Nick, for making me feel things about a cat easter egg in a video game that I have never played and seldom heard about before now
I raised my cat from a kitten. I got her when I was 3 years old & she lived until my 19th birthday. The love I have for her will live forever. Cats are truly the best. ❤️
This video was an emotional roller coaster. I started off thinking “why is he so obsessed with a cat photo?” - and ended with tears in my eyes. This video only further memorializes that beautiful cat’s life and it, like the game itself, is a work of art.
hey, Japanese here! I hope I can give some insight to the unresolved mystery left behind: 1. who was "Zyoko" anyway? most likely a different spelling of "Joko". Japanese keyboard renders a Japanese character by combining an alphabet, and "Zyo" and "Jo" both renders the same character -- "じょ" (Jo). 2. what's written on the picture then? most likely it says "Hanya-n Love". It's a bit difficult to read the center due to the blurriness, but "はに??ーん" part is clear. only sentence that I know of that matches to this is "Hanyan (はにゃーん/Ha-nya-nn, one variant of Japanese writing for meow)". It's somewhat similar to the cat's name stated in the video (Hyanyan) but not quite the same. I'm wildly guessing at this point, but I suspect it's either: - Image says "Hanyan" but cat's name is "Hyanyan", and it's totally unrelated. - Futatsugi-san made a typo for cat's name, and it's actually "Hanyan" - I'm wrong and it's actually says "Hyanyan" on the image as well. hope it helps!
My dog literally got diagnosed with cancer a few days ago, it broke my heart. When he said hopefully you’ll remember a pet you’ve loved at the end it made me tear up a bit. Luckily I still have some time left with my boy, so I’m gonna make the most out of it.
Man this is sweet finding about a cat that was cared for so much that it was put up many times in a shop in a game without others knowing about it. I don't know if anyone knows information about he or she but it reminds me of the dog profile picture that came with the Xbox 360 back in 2005.
I knew it wouldn't be alive, it's a 15 year photo. But the fact that it was around until about 2 years ago is incredible, I never expected a cat to last that long tbh
As someone who has lost many cats in the past due to old age, its touching to see how much cats are loved, no matter where they are. It's inspiring to me.
I'm amazed at your ability to make touching narratives from such absurdly specific deep-dives. You're such a good storyteller! The music along with lingering cinematic shots of Hyanyan were genuinely evocative.
For Futatsugi to put such effort to find the owner and the name of the cat, even after you said it was all ok, he continued his journey to find it, just shows the love this man has for this game and the team too and this is really beautiful. Hyanyan will be fovever remembered ❤️
Nick, thank you for this. I have an old English bulldog whom we adopted from one of my mother's friend's family, she grew up with 3 little kids and loved them so much, but they had to move halfway across the country to an apartment that does not allow pets, so we took her in. she has lived a total of 11 years (with her birthday in November), and ~5 of those years with us, but she is starting to reach the end of her rope. I have never really had to deal with something so emotionally significant to me, especially so considering she essentially became my emotional support dog over COVID. I love her with all my heart but with the way things are looking, We may have to put her down in the next 3~5 weeks... It has been very hard trying to accept that fact and even considering that I am currently seeing a therapist, it feels like I can't take it anymore. I want to be selfish, I want to keep her around no matter how badly in pain she is, to see her again the next day. but I know that's wrong. little by little, each time I realize what I am going to have to do soon, it breaks me. I sob and weep and hold her and don't want to ever let her go. And each time, I eventually stop crying, not by choice, but because I am so delirious and dehydrated that I can barely breathe, let alone cry. The worst part is that because of a mix of certain conditions, my memory is slipshod at best. If I try to look back into the past and remember all the good times I have had with her, sometimes I can barely even remember what she even looks like. I know I have had good times with her, and I can think of a few things If I'm lucky, but overall because of that, it feels like I never Truly spent time with her, like I had totally neglected her for the last 5 years. I know that's wrong, I know because my family remembers, and the few videos and photos say otherwise. (we are more of a "living in the moment" family than a "take a video every time" kind of family) but it never feels like its wrong. each time it well and truly feels like I never gave her the love she deserves. This video, I can feel helped me. even if only a little bit. and for that, I thank you profusely. (Originally written at midnight between 1/6/2023 and 1/7/2023. Don't want to forget.)
I lost my dog a year ago now. He grew up with me, he slept in my bed, he'd lick the tears from my face when I cried. He was a weird dog but he was my weird dog. I knew he was 11, nearly 12, but he deteriorated so fast. It especially hurt because I always said I wanted to be in the room if he had to be put down but I wasn't able to because I was away at university with no way to get home that fast. (My mum called me to tell me he was in a bad shape and he had to be put down the next day.) The videos of Nick's dog hit me because he looked so similar, he was a wire haired jack russel with the same old man face. You never stop missing them and you never stop thinking about them, but over time it hurts less. Eventually you'll think about your affection for her rather than the pain of losing her. Try to think about how you made her life a good life. Pets know we love them so I'm sure she knows she is so so loved. The fact that you feel so bad about losing her proves how much you loved her. Talk to your therapist about it if you haven't already because they will have resources to help you cope with grief. Putting a pet down is one of the hardest but kindest things we have to do. And even if it hurts now, trust me that you will feel okay again with time.
You did the right thing not contacting her. Knowing Hyanyan lived a long life and was dearly loved is enough for the cat mystery to be closed with warmth and joy
If I was an environmental artist in a video game; I would 100% sneak a pet in too. Having that power must be great, even if it's a super niche game like this. Very sweet video, it got me thinking of pets I've loved and lost. I wish the best for her.
for the 'Zyoko' mystery: There are multiple forms of romaji じょ is normally shown as "Jo" but sometimes it is shown as "Zyo" "Zyoko" is actually "Joko" The credits have "SATO Joko" under "Map 3D Artist"
It's funny how often I have a video recommended to me and think "I really don't care about that- oh, it's a Nick Robinson video? Well that is definitely worth watching!"
Another great video. I was absolutely set on it being "Hya-chan", and I still cannot for the life of me see a "に" in there. That aside: Rest in peace, Hyanyan.
I was convinced it was Hayato-san, where parts of the と and さ overlapped. I can’t see the に either, but I guess my kana skills have gotten rusty because I thought “Hya” would have to be spelled ひゃ rather than はゃ
@@meatonthebone7203 I’m currently actively learning Japanese rn, and it *should* be spelled as ひゃ, not はゃ. Maybe someone who had actually lived in Japan or is a native speaker could explain it, if it’s just a different way of spelling…
When I heard the cat died my heart shattered since I lost one of my cats recently (a few months ago) from liver issues and she looked similar to the cat in the video (except with longer fur and the stripes are hardly visible) and when I heard the cat in the game died that reminded me of my cat. I want to believe the cat had a long happy life and the kitty is watching down happy that we found her actual name!
I knew from the start of the video that the cat probably wasnt around but it still hit me like a truck. RIP Hyanyan, a sweet baby who lived a normal life but thanks to a little bit of love from her person now hundreds of thousands of people know and care for. May her memory be cherished 💕🐱
Reminds me of the cat photograph you can find at CJ's house in GTA San Andreas. It's a white cat, and I don't think anyone has still discovered whose cat it is or where the picture is from exactly, after nearly 19 years has passed.
You said the fact that Hyanyan has passed makes it a bittersweet victory, but personally? I think it's makes it all the sweeter, because it's no longer just a silly little random easter egg. It's now a precious memory, immortalised in a masterpiece of a game forever. I can't say for certain, but I think Mimori might have been a little happy to hear that her beloved cat who is now gone, is sorta famous lol. R.I.P Hyanyan, you looked adorable.
totally, that Cat will be remembered long after most of us are dead, and forgotten.... OK now my sadness has progressed from the vicarious, to the existential tier!
Oh I guess I'm ordering food and waiting for this. Just finished my annual routine of forcing family to watch the "Dont Know What Decade it is Challenge".
I resonate deeply with this, I too have lost a cat. My family’s Izzybell. She was a sweetheart, never got mad at anyone, and only wanted to hangout with you. She lived a long 18 years and I grew up with her for 12 of those years. I never will forget her as she reminds me to this day how despite a creatures inability to communicate. They have a soul and personality.
Great video, sorry to hear about your family's dog, I recently lost my dog Emmie last week and I am still heartbroken about it. Your videos have been bring me joy, especially your Pokemon video about saving Blastoise, I seem to always come back to that video since you uploaded it and I believe that is one of your best works. Thank you for your content and keep up the great work.
Freaking love your videos.. Only you can tell a story so well that me, someone who’s never played this or heard of this game (before you) can be more than interested in the outcome. Good writing per usual.
I love how this guy went through so much effort to answer an arguably insignificant question from a random American guy about an obscure video game he worked on so many years ago. Asking around in the development team, repeatedly updating Nick on the progress of the Investigation, even making sure to correct himself once he finds more information that debunks another idea he had. That is some wholesome dedication, and the best fan service you could ask for. The love this cat got is something I relate to. The dog in my profile picture has been gone for four years. His name is Karel, and he's been my profile picture on pretty much everything for a long time, even before his passing. Some people have been convinced upon seeing my profile picture that Karel was a cat, with one person even questioning if I was certain he was a dog, but I know for sure that Karel was the bestest of boys among dogs. His calm yet playful personality, his intelligence with a healthy amount of goofiness, I will never forget. Karel was my best friend, and I can talk on and on about him.
i actually cried at the end. the love she had for her cat struck a chord with my love for my dog who passed away. i miss him dearly and i took so many years i had with him for granted. i have to live with guilt but i try to focus on the happy memories i had with him. i'm scared that ill forget them. i don't want to.
The beautiful thing about the conclusion is what comes to your mind when you reach it. No one wants to be pestered about the painful past, and you don't really need to. We all can relate to it, no matter how many years it was, how long ago it was, how it happened, we all know the pain.
Never thought I would tear up to one of these goofy internet searching videos. My Hyanyan was Kip, we lost him in October. He was so grumpy yet soft and would always try to steal any food you got. Thank you Nick ❤️
I chuckled to myself seeing that this was yet another Phantom Dust video (don't get me wrong, I love them! Just amazed you can get this much out of one game is all), but by the end you had me tearing up over a 15 year+ old jpeg. It was a bittersweet reminder of my family's dog, Muffin, who passed in 2019. She was there throughout most of my childhood, all the way through college. This one little extremely pixelated image of Hyanyan is a beautiful message of how much pets can mean in the life of a person. Thank you.
Not only are you a legitimate documentarian…but you are the greatest video game documentarian that has ever walked the earth. Keep it up you son of a gun.
Hearing that Hyanyan passed broke my heart, but they get to live on forever not only in Mimori’s heart, but now all of our hearts. Losing pets is never easy, I’ve had to lose so many pets as of late, one being my first ever cat that I got when I was 5. They’ll never be forgotten, no matter how much time has passed. Rest In Peace Hyanyan
14:18 here's where a bit of Japanese historical writing knowledge comes into play zy is an old romanization style of representing the palatalized s/z series. Sy = sh, Zy = voiced sh (similar to the middle sound of English "vision"). The same occurs with Ty = ch, Dy = j. Modern Japanese j and voiced zh are pronounced the same in Tokyo, so the name you're looking for is actually Joko, or Jouko depending on if that first vowel is long or not. Just did a quick Google search for and the first result was Joko/Jyoko Sato, the Map 3D artist on Phantom Dust.
Ugh bloody nick such a good story teller. I can’t believe I am having goosebumps and tearing up when watching about a story of a mystery cat photo in ancient video game… Simply amazing!

It's like she still lives on in the game, no matter how old the game gets :,)
Hyanyan has traveled the world and been a part of countless peoples lives. And thats absolutely beuatiful 😭

Dude, I cried. I knew there was a chance Hyanyan wasn't around anymore, but hearing she wasn't just sent a pain through my heart. May she always be remembered ❤️
Me too. I dunno why but I felt like crying seeing the picture.
Cute 😭
Mjölnir!

I genuinely love that Yukio was so excited to help you solve this mystery. He really seemed to care so much that *you* cared so much. 🥺
At least Hyanyan’s legacy will live on

Yukio is a legend. A random stranger asks him a question that he could easily give an answer that is "probably true" and be done with it. No, he took the time to find the true answer to the question.
japanese are very polite and generous people, so no suprise there!
A loving home, good genes, and some luck!
@Nub I’m so sorry that happened. This is why the majority of outdoor cats have shortened lifespans ☹️
Cat cancer?!?
Rest in Peace, Hyanyan. A silly little easter egg by Mimori-san has memorialized you in all of our hearts. Hyanyan LOVE, indeed.
And for someone who’s owned many cats in my life, it’s the funniest and truest things that I’ve read and I HIGHLY recommended it!
It’s called “Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu” if anyone wants to read it! 🐱
People love their pets. If i had the opportunity to immortalise my dog in a video game then I 100% would.
Sakurai also hid his cat in super smash bros melee!!

I laughed out loud once we finally learned Hyanyan's name, because its just so perfectly punny.
And then I yelled out loud and proceeded to cry shortly afterward.

Damn, I thought I was the only one who went through those specific rollercoasters of emotion. RIP Hyanyan

Mimori must be touched by this. Her beloved cat she portrayed in this will live forever and someone recognizing it is wonderful. Thank you Nick
R.I.P Hyanyan may the cat live on in that game forever
I just gave my barely-a-kitten-anymore Apollonia an extra squirt of whipped cream in Apollo's honor 😺
I will forever be jealous of the ease of portmantous and puns in the Japanese language. The fact that the name of the cat has nyan in it is so sweet and cool.

We might've never knew Hyanyan existed, but they lived a long happy live. Mimori-san is probably really sad that her cat is gone, but at least Hyanyan might be friends with all the pets we have lost. R. I. P. Hyanyan, we hope you are doing amazing in the afterlife.
I love how how futatsugi got just as into the “mystery of cats” as you did 😂
well, one doesn't just abandon the mystery of cats!
To be immortalized in media like this that a lot of people cherish is so special. It's another part of why data preservation is so important. It keeps the small and simple, yet impactful things in memory, whether that's active memory or something just waiting to be seen by someone who will be affected by it.
It's why I love videos like this so much. This information very nearly died forever. Now it'll never be forgotten.
Not a lot of people cherish this game, that's the whole point of his past videos on it
@@ethanwasme4307 "a lot" doesn't necessarily have to be anything substantial. enough people liked the game for it to get a PC port recently, so i think that qualifies, even if most people don't know about it.

Not to diminish this mystery, but I think you could literally make anything glued-to-your-seat riveting to learn about if it has even the slightest hint of mystery to it - you're very very good at this.

We need a petition to put Hyanyan into the sequel if they do ever make one
Definitely.
@Safwaan We don't need a remaster when it's an Easter egg.
@Safwaan Only if you don't find the original image in good quality. It would feel wrong tampering with an image and saying it's Hyanyan when it's not.
@Safwaan Yeah, I just think you should use an image that is available and the nearest to the source image. You could also not use an image and just a note about the cat.
@Safwaan remaster it with AI into a high ass quality texture.
RIP Hyanyan, the legend that went undiscovered, for 16 years.
Thanks, Nick, for making me feel things about a cat easter egg in a video game that I have never played and seldom heard about before now
Haha, my childhood cat is still kicking, she's about a year younger than i am and shes still full of beans! Thanks for fostering :-)
Me to :( I’m actually sobbing right now
I raised my cat from a kitten.
I hope I can give some insight to the unresolved mystery left behind:
1. who was "Zyoko" anyway?
most likely a different spelling of "Joko".
I'm wildly guessing at this point, but I suspect it's either:
- Image says "Hanyan" but cat's name is "Hyanyan", and it's totally unrelated.
- Futatsugi-san made a typo for cat's name, and it's actually "Hanyan"
- I'm wrong and it's actually says "Hyanyan" on the image as well.
hope it helps!
My dog literally got diagnosed with cancer a few days ago, it broke my heart. When he said hopefully you’ll remember a pet you’ve loved at the end it made me tear up a bit. Luckily I still have some time left with my boy, so I’m gonna make the most out of it.
Once he got the name of the get I was expecting him to go to japan to pet him, but then the rest of the e-mail as read.
We salute this legend.
i was also hoping for a trip to Japan to pet the cat 😢
Man this is sweet finding about a cat that was cared for so much that it was put up many times in a shop in a game without others knowing about it. I don't know if anyone knows information about he or she but it reminds me of the dog profile picture that came with the Xbox 360 back in 2005.
I knew it wouldn't be alive, it's a 15 year photo. But the fact that it was around until about 2 years ago is incredible, I never expected a cat to last that long tbh
indoor cats regularly live 18-20 years! (though an outdoor cat living that long would be very unusual and lucky)
They can get 30 years old
The oldest known cat lived to 38 years. Her name was Creme Puff.
The big question is how old the cat was at the time.
As someone who has lost many cats in the past due to old age, its touching to see how much cats are loved, no matter where they are. It's inspiring to me.
Hyanyan will forever live in our hearts, and within our xboxs
absolutely did not expect to have tears sliding down my face when i clicked on this video
When you realize that 2 years ago was 2021, almost like yesterday, it really hits. May Hyanyan live a great afterlife!
Man, you are such an amazing storyteller.
I wish the best for her.
for the 'Zyoko' mystery:
There are multiple forms of romaji
じょ is normally shown as "Jo" but sometimes it is shown as "Zyo"
"Zyoko" is actually "Joko"
The credits have "SATO Joko" under "Map 3D Artist"

20:20 If you ask me, that's a really beautiful Mimori-al.
Never thought I would tear up to one of these goofy internet searching videos. My Hyanyan was Kip, we lost him in October. He was so grumpy yet soft and would always try to steal any food you got. Thank you Nick ❤️

Heartfelt and respectful video Mr. Nick Robinson.
Brought tears to my eyes frfr. Hyanyan may not be here anymore, but he keeps on living.
Thank you.
This video is beautiful. 20 minutes ago I didn’t know this game existed, and here I am crying over this cat in it.

You made me tear up over a cat I never knew existed. RIP Hyanyan
14:18 here's where a bit of Japanese historical writing knowledge comes into play
zy is an old romanization style of representing the palatalized s/z series.
I can’t believe I am having goosebumps and tearing up when watching about a story of a mystery cat photo in ancient video game… Simply amazing!
you by any metric, are a class A story teller. Every one of your videos while usually far from subjects I've ever cared about before, always leave a lasting impression years prior. Results I can only credit to your well crafted emotional beats and general pacing.
