    Listen to that "JSU Day of Percussion" video to the right of the screen at the top. Now that's how they really sound.

    Somebody recorded this with a cheap camera that's why the sound quality is bad.

    Just as an FYI: To everyone who doesn't like the tuning: To be honest, I didn't either when I first heard them. In fact, I thought they were the most overrated line in the SWAC because I hated their material. However, when I saw them live last year, I couldn't deny that they're VERY talented, uniform, and disciplined. Plus, the recordings don't do their line justice. Their style is very power oriented, so that's what their technique, material, and tuning will revolve around. I personally can't listen to them the same way I listen to a corps style drumline because the styles are totally different...but they're still good in their own right. Again, this is just opinion, but hopefully this clarifies some of the same questions that I had. :-)

    what da hell is up with those tenor drum. Man they sound like crap.

      ***** JSU, A&T, and Cookman have the worse chest tenor sound i've heard. Your attempt to explain why the tenors sound so crappy is laughable. Never played percussion but i play 7 different instruments with 40 yrs of musical experience. I wont even respond to your "nigga" comment. It only shows your LACK of maturity.

    WT is better when you hear them in person. They are flat out power driven with little finesse. The only people I see who take shots at WT are people who are used to hearing MEAC lines.

    I like how they ended. Before the "true" ending to the penultimate cadence they transition to "Chop Not Slop." Then at the end the finally go to the "true" ending. Seems like power is a little lacking, but it's early in the season. I think it's very impressive that they got a lot of their advanced cadences worked up this early. There must have been some very talented freshmen to come in. Keep up the great work!!!

    Man that level of uniformity, discipline, and skill is just unparalleled in the SWAC. They're like some groovy ass robots and somebody programmed them to be the shit.

    These cadences are not impressive at all.

    • @RasAlXander
      @RasAlXander 9 років тому +2

      Well I agree with you, they're not as impressive as MEAC drumlines, but it's pretty unique because SWAC drumlines remind me of the old days where there was a flute, snare drum and bass drummer keeping rhythm for the soldiers while marching and I like it

      Thanos The Mad Titan no all of SWAC lines is like that. The 2 Texas and Alabama lines. Have more of a different approach

    • @RasAlXander
      @RasAlXander 7 років тому

      Xisean Anthony I know that all SWAC sounds like that. My point wasn't that they didn't sound like it which is very boring but unique in a way. I explained why above.

    • @Anzomax2
      @Anzomax2 7 років тому

      Thanos The Mad Titan i meant to say not all of the SWAC lines. PV, TSU, ASU, and AAMU have a different approach

    • @RasAlXander
      @RasAlXander 7 років тому

      Xisean Anthony I doubt that. I watch them all and they all have heavy, loose bass drums that ring a bit and play identical to the tubas with unison parts, snare drum is so tilted you can see the head, chest tenors, and quad players have a similar play style in movement of the arms and hands. It isn't a huge difference
