Great vid! Wow so far, I am not having great luck at all myself. SanDisk Extreme Pro in 64GB and 128GB sizes that I have had for a while and, 128GB fails due to "slow record speeds". 64GB is hit and miss. Grabbed a brand new 256GB and, same issue "slow speed, record failed". Quick format, Full format, formatting on a computer and in camera, so far no changes. How odd! I am able to record by dropping to 5.7k, standard bitrate.
@@ttl_channel Newest versions yep (especially the one purchased a few days ago). Quite certain they are legit (and they all work great in GoPro 7s and 10s, GoPro Fusion and a Mavic 2). The only thing I could see and seems odd but, SanDisk does list "action cams" on the Extreme cards but not on the Extreme Pro cards. Seems odd that Pro would not work but, suppose I will try a standard extreme and see what happens! And thanks again for the vid! (And if the Extreme fails I will grab one of your listed "go to" cards!)
Great video! One other point to note is that insta360 (on their website) say NOT to use the faster UHS-II cards. Only UHS-I recommended. So, this eliminates the faster V60 and V90 cards, since I think those are all UHS-II. Not sure why they do this, since the UHS-II cards are supposed to be backwards compatible. But, it's an important point.

Yes, the X4 will accept up to a 1TB card. The model I tested was the “Extreme” (amzn.to/4cBlxrj) but I also have good experience with the Samsung Pro Plus (amzn.to/4cnitii).
Great video. I was just curious if the make of the memory card contributes to the overheating of the camera? Maybe a 30 minute 8K recording session using each card and checking the camera body temperature every 5 minutes. What do you think?
I did some testing on this, but nothing conclusive so far. I might try to explore this more, but right now I am working on a comparison of the X4 with the RS 1-inch.
I have different results for the 512 GB version of the SanDisk Extreme. The Insta360 x4 said "recording stopped due to insufficient SD card speed" after about 20 min at 8k 30fps. FYI, the conditions were somewhat low light and temperature in the high 80's, with airflow between 10 and 70 mph. The last several minutes of the video were corrupted, with a huge black gash in the stitch line. There's no indication that the card is bad according to benchmarks I've run.
Same here. Do we need the Extreme Pro? I would like to continuously record longer than 25mins max if possible since I need usually a straight home if not bit longer at a time
Terrific - such a very useful informative video on a subject which was puzzling me. Well put together - top job, new subscriber - thank you very much! KP
great informative. I used to use Lexar for my SLR. as nowadays difficult to get it at my country, have change to the black colour Sandisk Extreme Pro, and works very well. from my experience, I recommend do not use same card for different devices. on one of my hiking trip, I lost my footage due to this mistake.
The Evo Plus is more focused on gaming and apps. As a V30 card, it should work for video also, but probably better to use a card that has video as it’s main focus.
I had a sandisk extreme and sometimes the video would stop saying card was not fast enough. got sandisk extreme pro and never had a problem again.. both are v30.. could it be just getting a bad card rather than any real difference?
That used to be when a harddisk was running full. Seems like the card needing to search longer for a free block. When was the last time you formatted the card (deep)?
I would get something better than the sandisk extreme if youre planning on doing 8k or 5.7 60 frames for longer than 25mins at a time. This card will cut you off at this point. Card is fine, but seems a lot of people are having this issue. 5.7k 30 frames is fine. I have the 512 256 and 128. 256 in x4 for daily use, but was planning on going 1tb, but glad i didnt yet. Looks like sandisk extreme pro 1tb is my next attempt.
Seems that people are getting mixed results. I had no problem recording in all modes with the Extreme, and some others have reported issues with the Pro version from the outset.
Bear in mind this notice from the Insta360 site: “Notice: Do not use UHS-II/UHS-III microSD/TF cards, or memory cards larger than 1TB. These cards are not compatible and may cause issues while recording.” Bigger/faster might not always be better.

video bitrate max is 200 but how fast does card need to be for fastest "burst" photography? I wonder if 11k interval mode requires faster card and goes over the 200 bit rate?

I’ve had issues with my x4 and the sandisk extreme. I’m going to try the sandisk pro next. I get errors where the x4 says write speed is too slow (even after a reformat). This happens on longer videos (over 5 min). I’m on a moving kayak, not sure if vibrations are an issue.

my 3 months old Sandisk 512 v30 extreme is keep getting card slow error in my x4. I have tried multiple methods to format and nothing help. The only way to fix is to change the bitrate from high to standard. Do u have this issue?

I think not. A v90 card is UHS-II, which is not supported. Stick with a V30 UHS- I card.
What is the maximum size capability of the insta360 X4?
1TB
The 360º powerhouse. UHS-I V30 speed class, exFAT format SD cards with a max storage of 1TB are recommended.
1TB, but sometimes a better idea to use more smaller cards to avoid losing valuable footage if a card is corrupted or if the camera is lost.

He clearly have TIME STAMPS on the video so you can jump straight to BRANDS and shut up before typing crap. These 17 minutes were very informative for me.
@@FrescoFilmz Who are you and who died to make you King?
I reject your command fully!
It's a free world and I give my opinion.
great
Thanks for watching.
Please throw away that mic you used at 11:39 it’s bad high pitch noise.
almost fell asleep
Sorry, us old timers just work at a different pace!
very informative video i learned a lot, however, Please just tell us which card to buy thats why we came here. We want someone thats tested things to tell us which is the best. Its fairly disappointing you didnt name a card you thought was most recommendable.
I think you're good with any of these cards, but I guess the Sandisk overall was the "winner" (fastest read speed).
I had to increase the video speed to 1,25x at normal speed it was boring slow
Too funny! Thanks for watching - will try to talk a bit faster (X1.25) in the future.

Apologies. Others have mentioned this, but so far I cannot isolate the problem. Worse still, I don't hear it!
Very helpful. Thank you
