- Checking out a new band to me - Highasakite and their acoustic performance of Samurai Swords. Such a pleasure to do a reaction to this video, and amazingly talented singer with a really haunting voice.

I listened to this song a lot of times but never picked up on the the song change of tone after the first verse. Which explains why tears came to my eyes every time at the second verse but I still see the song as light every time it ends. And get chocked at every listening when that second verse hit and the chock brings me tears. It's like a mild amnesia at every listen to a powerful sadness that dissipates at that very first note on the second verse.
This is a very nice reaction video, and although I've heard several other songs of this amazing Norwegian group, Highasakite, I hadn't heard this particular song. I can warmly recommend another song by this same group: "Lover, where do you live?". There's obviously studio versions and several live versions to choose among, such as the one from The 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. I'm not sure which version that you would prefer to react to, but I suggest that you dive right into it. Merry Christmas to you here from Norway!

Sound great buddy. I'm actually listening to this version right now in this very moment. It's not to miss out on, also because of the setting itself. I remember seeing it back in 2016 on tv, as I always watch the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, as there's usually some good artists invited to perform at this event :-) There are other concert versions too, which are good, but I guess the one at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert would be a good choice.

So glad you liked it man!! I'm the one who gave you the suggestion. This band became very popular, very fast here in Norway. In 2017 I saw them live in Oslo Spektrum. They filled the place to capacity with 10.500 people & no warm up act. That's very rare for a Norwegian group especially considering they only started in 2011!!
And no it's not a cover. This was written by the vocalist. And Marie Eberson is the one on the piano^^

As most of the stuff I react to is all Copyrighted material 😁 I'm really enjoying leaning about new styles of music and different musicians and groups that I wouldn't normally hear or come across. You talk of the piano, and for me it makes perfect sense. For me the lower chords represents the lyrics, and the fre-running high chords the man she's afraid or uncapable to love. :)

Cool, something new. Although she sounds a bit like Adele at the start, just from hearing some radio songs. Could be a strange connection my brain makes. Nice one!
I can see a bit of a conenction there, but once the songs goes a bit further I caught up with it.

Also some good live versions here on YT. The haunting acoustic version sounds very 4AD label "This Mortal Coil"-ish. HAAK has been one of my favorite bands for the last 5 years.
