@patpat326 Thanks. I assume you mean the dark eggs on the outside are fertilized eggs (kept on the outside), whereas the red roe (cooked) on the inside are the same as virgins.

if you are caught with seeder lobsters on the boat, unless they are going to a hatchery its either a HUGE fine OR your licence.. So every single lobster with eggs goes BACK into the ocean.. my bf is a lobsterman in Stonington,ME!!
I've heard that a small V notch is cut in the tail of the females for quick visible reference when they're not egged up. Have you ever heard of that? Thanks for the video.

I dive for lobsters weekly, and you have zero clue of what you're talking about.
First: it's "force", not "pressure".
Second: if it were 10x the force, the lobster would break apart.
Third: a belly-flop has a higher force on impact, than merely moving quickly through water.
Great video. Question, if the females are the ones with the dark underside and you toss them back, then why do so may cooked lobster have red roe on the inside?
it doesn't hurt the animal to throw them into the water..LOL I do it every single time we go out into the ocean. the females do NOT abort the eggs after being thrown back.

When the lobsters come up in the trap, the water flowing through the trap makes 10x more pressure than tossing the lobster back. Chill out.
Toss them in a little hard Captain dave, maybe all the eggs will fall off.

As a civil engineer, I would think 'placing' the female lobsters back into the water vs. lobbing them back like pregnant meat would help sustain the lobster industry. I have seen many human water skier meatbags buckle, whine and moan as they are flattened against the water surface so I am sure the nuturing/pregnant lobsters should be given some gentle placement so they don't abort a few eggs.

TJ weim Because not every area does V-notching, where I'm at for example we have a system where lobsters over a certain size must be let go

Capt. Dave is looking out for his best interest not notching the female so in the very near future after the eggs are gone it's a keeper. It's not against the rules of throwing back without notching in my opinion it's $ hungry another day.. I'll notch every one i see.

Lobster is actually not tasteful than crabs and shrimps are.I could careless with lobsters.

I used to be just a poor dumb fisherman... but now that the government, The politicians, the NMFS and the U.N. have regulated me out of my own industry, and stolen or legislated away my life, livelyhood, permits, business, retirement, health, money, boat value, sustinence, etc. etc. etc. .... Well i guess now i am just a..... poor and dumb, that is no longer allowed to be a fisherman !!!.
