    It works fantastic when I use it sparingly but another time I was taking about 2-3 tablets per day for 4-5 days I got the worst restless legs syndrome and akathisia. It lasted for about a week before it fully went away. I

    This is very helpful information! It is not available over the counter in the U.S. I feel like Zofran is used first line for nausea here which as you mentioned also has side effects. If Zofran doesn’t help then Promethazine is usually used.

      Thanks 😊 Yes, that’s correct, things are done differently there, & in other countries too. I don’t account for every single country in my videos as that sadly is not possible. But I did include the common brand name for it in the US, in the title 😊 Some places in the US do favour promethazine over zofran though, particularly when money is a big factor

    Hi❤ I’ve taken this for 14 years with ondansetron for CVS and chronic pancreatitis. I used to take 6mg daily and now I’ve reduced it to 3mg, twice weekly or during bad CVS attacks. I’m glad the doctor warned you about TD. I was warned about it too but I was kept on it after domperidone was discontinued for nausea patients.
    It’s difficult when you rely on anti-sickness meds.

      Thanks so much for sharing this, it’s so good to hear your story, as someone who’s slightly further along on this crazy journey, I think I’ve been on it for around 6-7 years in total, but like you, just can’t do without it!

      @@GeorginasJourney You’re welcome. I was without any meds for that side of things for years as we have both struggled there. I don’t know what’s worse sometimes. We can only do what we can do. I hope you find a way of managing things so you don’t need it as much but you aren’t suffering in the process. I’ve had emetophobia from having CVS attacks. If I go out I cannot not take the meds and risk the phobia coming back. I try and stay off them at home and be sick if I’m sick. I panic. I have SVT attacks like you and other complex issues. We do have to be kind to ourselves when navigating things. Best Wishes to you. I look forward to seeing more of your journey. ♥️

      The only real issues are if the patient is taking any kind of psychiatric medication, since this class of medication is primarily an antipsychotic medication. Your doctor or pharmacist can check patients' current medications in case there are known drug interactions.

    • @GeorginasJourney
      @GeorginasJourney  7 місяців тому

      I’d advise reading the leaflet for full information about drug interactions & also the list of people who shouldn’t take it for any otc med, as there are actually some other key points there about who shouldnt take it. Also, it’s not primarily an antipsychotic med in the UK as the NHS recognises & classifies it as an antiemetic now- times have changed & classifications can change in line with those changes :)

      @@GeorginasJourney My information was for USA viewers, since it's still classified as an antipsychotic, and the fact that it blocks dopamine receptors has not changed. Its potential side effects, such as tardive dyskinesia, also has not changed.

  • @cultfiction3865
    @cultfiction3865 7 днів тому +2

    You wont get tardive dyskinesia at the low doses used for nausea, that doctor is exaggerating. Thats only when there is daily use of very high dosages. If it helps your nausea I wouldnt pay too much to attentionbto it since most medications have unlikley drastic possibilities listed. But it usually means in the highest dosages and even then its fairly rare.

    • @GeorginasJourney
      @GeorginasJourney  5 днів тому

      Thank you so much for this! There’s not really any data about how the buccal doses compare to oral doses and the dr made it sound like 6mg twice a day (buccal type) was a high dose so I’ve been really concerned about it!

    • @cultfiction3865
      @cultfiction3865 5 днів тому

      @@GeorginasJourney Drs are also called general practitioners often meaning they have a general understanding but not the more sophisticated understanding of psychiatrists. That particular drug is taken by some patients at up to 150mg per day so 12mg a day is very low. You see at that dosage it isn't impacting the dopamine system, that's at higher doses. It has to be impacting the dopamine system to carry any risk of Tardive Dyskinesia

      @@cultfiction3865 thanks, the one person I know who developed TD from it at a nausea dosage, I think was on 15mg doses 2-3 times a day (not buccal, via feeding tube) & that also contributed to my worry
