- This pile of 6P clips I started collecting about a year and a half ago in hopes I would be able to dump it all into one video in prep for Strive Slayer. Therefore, you may notice some clips look worse than others due to it being edited on older programs I had then. Hope you don't notice!

If slayer's 6P ends up being smaller than testament's I will be right next to you rioting
I haven't seen test 6p in strive but i imagine it's not an overhead anymore
@@LucidButtonMasher no but it's one of the largest 6P's in strive currently while also being one of the faster recovering ones
If they make Slayer's 6P smaller than Testament's I'll be right there with you. Given how strong Strive 6Ps and Strive counter hit combos are, I can't imagine them taking those things away from Slayer who's entire character identity is centered around strong 6P and counter hit combos. If anything, I'd expect them to lean even harder into that identity.
@@LucidButtonMasherit's probably the best 6P in strive rn, it's practically a giant stop sign and if you even try and approach from the air you die, doesn't save Test from being bottom 5 at best but that's neither here nor there

A lot of people seem to be confused about the 6p changes from update 1.24 to clarify the universalization of the hurtboxs on frames 1-3 was done to alter the defensive utility of 6p when interrupting frame traps. The changes did NOT modify the effectiveness of 6p a counter poke or antiair. These changes only applied to a few characters. Goldlewis(-16.0%) and Bridget(-8.0%) were buffed, Baiken(+0.5%), HC(+0.5%), Ram(+7.0%), May(+12.0%) and testament (+0.5%) where nerfed, jacko (f1: -5.0%, f2: +20%) got reworked. Anji and Faust also got 6p buffs but that's unrelated.
Good clarification
I was expecting an in depth analysis of his whole kit and how it might change and instead had a guy talk about his favorite move for 13 minutes and I wouldn’t have it any other way, I do this to my friends with xrd Izami and Suzuran, those moves make me so happy
I'll probably do a whole slayer one at some point when i compare the strive one

I've made this argument before and I'll make it again. Strive is a game that's known for having very strong 6Ps and massive damage off of counter hit combos. Slayer is a character known for having a very strong 6P and massive damage off of counter hit combos. It is hard for me to imagine Slayer getting heavily nerfed between Xrd and Strive given how his moveset is already extremely Strive friendly.
Yeah i don't think characters are inherently nerfed in strive, usually changed in ways to fit the game
@@LucidButtonMasher There's definitely some characters that lost a fair bit of sauce in the transition, Millia immediately comes to mind, and I think it's fair to criticize Strive for that. However, based on my understanding of Strive character design and my understanding of Slayer as a character, I simply do not think Slayer will be one of those characters. For example, Strive tends to focus on relatively short, high damaging combos, which is pretty much Slayer's calling card.
Obviously I don't have a crystal ball, and only Daisuke truly knows what his own vision is. It's entirely possible that they rework him from the ground up and turn him into a puppet character that has to manage his ghost bar to call assists (please don't actually do this Daisuke). I really do doubt it though, given how his Xrd moveset is basically a slightly exaggerated version of the Strive design philosophy.

The only thing that's holding Slayer 6P back is that fact that it can't be back dash canceled.
That would be unlimited power potential
6p in strive got normalized in season 2 or 3 so its the same for everyone. some characters like testament and nago had 6ps that were almost slayer tier, and you got a bunch of funky interactions as a result

I think Slayer would have to be a 1 to 1 venison of his 5H ground bouncing, you're already dead, AC Self for me to play Strive again at this point lol

Strive has gotten me to pick up slayer in xrd, and while I hope for the sake of my own sanity that his 6P isn't this insane on top of strive's already pretty crazy 6P game, but you can bet imma be putting shoulder to chin in xrd whenever the opportunity presents itself. Or whenever the opportunity seems like it might soon present itself. Or whenever the opportunity explicitly does not present itself. (Fr tho, you make some pretty damn great stuff and I wouldn't be half as interested in xrd if not for it)

Given strives routes with normals, it would be pretty cool if they kept it the same, I don't know if there's many, if any characters in strive who's 6p is part of their bnbs off their lights

@@LucidButtonMasher U can cancel standing or crouching punch into 6p, canceling a 2 or 5k into 6p is more character dependant (like how chipp can cancel 5k into 5k naturally without a counterhit)
@@nobodywashere3123 i think in strive 5K/2Ks are universally cancelable into command normals (i.e. 6p). Some characters do use 6P in certain BnBs, at the very least Nago can do 2K>6P>etc to combo from normal hit 2K, where 6K would not combo

favorite move on slayer for me has always been his dash and thats why i ended up maining him hes a tp dash char but not one of those weird ones.. probably will get nerfed hard though.

You seem like the guy to ask: what is Slayers punish for Ky's j.H (in Xrd)? Seems like all I ever get is a clash at best.
Ngl I've had issues with this exact button. A Ky jumping back with j.H is pretty tough to contest. If 6P clashes you're hitting it too late or they're too far away. Crosswise is probably going to get hit if 6p doesn't, and a 2s probably the same. Only advice might be to try and predict and act preemptively, or just do backdash stuff

I’m very excited for slayer in strive as a long time slayer fan who’s felt that I’ve never had a character I liked much in strive, maining Anji out of obligation.
I wonder how much different they’ll make him. I can see him turning into something like his +R EX version, where he had more standard dashes to accommodate for dash macro and more standard gatlings. I wouldn’t prefer this, but it’s an option.
Either way I’m not picky and am happy to double my hours with new dandy

Let’s just keep in mind that they seem to be very cautious about DLC character, to the point of releasing most of them intentionally undercooked since Happy Chaos.
Elphelt and Johnny both seem to have incomplete kits, and Sin was like that too, for a long while. Bedman? And Testament are kinda still in that zone too.
Not to mention how dismal Anji and Faust were to begin with.
I dunno where Slayer is gonna be when he drops, but who knows how much of this privilege he’s even going to keep at this point.

tbh this is why Strive has so rarely tempted me into playing it
it feels like anything particularly good on a previous iteration of a character (except for like, Sol) ends up being sanded down to an inoffensive rounded point with like a third of the tools. I might be exaggerating but it's kind of annoying regardless.

I'll never not be pissed at Anji's Autoguard being turned into a (CH prone) twirl. Does it look fancy? Yeah. Is it nearly as effective as the oddity that it was in +R? I'd say no, considering how much the risk-reward exchange has changed from then to now.
I'm not entirely confident in the transition but hope it got better
I wanted to like strive but there is too many thing that i dont like about it
Even outside of gameplay i feel like the ui and usability is not good
I feel like the game lost a lot of style even outside of gameplay, f.e. character intros and winscreens are quite bad
And the gameplay feels kinda stiff and strange to me, it felt like the game wasnt trying to be fun anymore
I think there were also things i liked but overall i had a lot of mixed feelings

@@WrongJonSilver If you didn't already know he now has a new move he can use after dodging with spin if he chooses to. It's invulnerable and plus on block, and therefore a strong exit if you dodge something small.
