They should make Maple Classic + update graphics, balance the economy, only 4-5 classes, but keep the game classic with no pay to win. Easy money
Yes! Old style with the fun of grouping and socialize, work hard for lvls but with updated classes , graphics and UI, I would come back to the in a heartbeat
I completely agree with this. They really need a MS Classic. Exactly like the game was pre-big bang and then continue building on that. Sort of like a Parallel Universe to current Maple where the Big Bang never happened.
Having said that, there are some things I would take from current MS and introduce it into the classic version. I would forego Star Power as that is pay to win imo, but keep potentials.
I do also think the skills should be rebalanced. Not any major changes but I do think buffs like Haste or Iron Body could be passive.

I can break my tenure with maplestory into 3 eras. The first being on Windia (Windia til I die), where I NEVER made it past my 2nd job. I was but a wee babe, having the time of my life doing party quest, talking to strangers online, and making memories without even realizing it.
The second was the first summer after Cygnus Knights came out. I made a dexless throwing star guy (I forget what they called them actually) and funded it with all of my IRL money I made working that summer. Absolutely destroying Monster Carnival PQ with two friends I made in game, listening to Avenged Sevenfold and pulling all nighters.
The third era, started two nights ago while my wife was out of town. I finally bit the bullet and reinstalled the game. I knew I wanted to do Heroic. I knew I wanted to do a shadower. I've followed the main story line so far and it got me to about level 60 and I was lost. Now I've found this video and am heading in the right direction. Thank you brother!

I spent a summer biking across town, to one of my at the time best friends house and we always played windia haha (windia till I die fam all the way) those were some of the best times. He went to boarding school and we lost contact after I deleted facebook. I’ll never forget the no dex sin and a screen full of bouncy ninja stars though.

Such a helpful video. I’m just now getting back into Maple (OG Release through Pre-Big Bang player) as I wanted to give it a another shot. I’ve tried MapleM and just couldn’t stick with it so giving GMS another try. I’ll definitely be playing on a Reboot/Heroic server as I’m trying to stay F2P, but thank you for for the discord suggestions. I’m hoping this game isn’t too much of a solo/single player experience so being in a discord would help.

I chose to stay on Elysium / Interactive since I already had 40+ Characters and a ton of old investment. Brought 2 friends who are brand new to the game and we're already able to do CRA together.
Really good video for new players. Helps a lot of people understand how to obtain knowledge outside of in-game resources.
This actually makes me not want to return to MS, it's a completely different game from what I remember and there's no way it's going to give me the experience that I would be looking for. It's way too beginner unfriendly and is way too focused on progression
I've been considering coming back, and still might, but from what I was told by a current player the concept of it being a socially cooperative, grind-heavy game is gone. You can now "grind" yourself to level 200, by yourself, in like..... a day, if not a couple days. To put also put it in perspective: boss fights like Zakum, Horntail, and Pink Bean are not even world bosses anymore, you can solo them.
I quit when scrolling gear was meta, and getting to 200 was max lvl. Then came back when cygnus came out and thunderbreaker, i think. But mobile was definitely a huge rumor at that time, but I never kept track of it. Now I recently found mobile and I have the itch to try play on computer again.. but I always lost interest in maplestory due to it being very grind based. But I've been babied by wow, which i feel is way less of a grind in the 19 years I've played.

Last time I played this game seriously was in 2017 and I just restarted playing in Scania the other day. I felt completely lost coming back but thanks to your videos, I could catch up on what's happening in this game 😃. The only thing that I'm pondering on is whether I should restart from scratch on a heroic server. I'm torn about it because I invested a lot (and I mean a LOT) in Scania. Anyways, I might just start it on the side for fun.

I was one of those players that came back to the game during covid. I got my main bucc from lvl 210 to 240. Like you said life got busy again and stopped playing around 2022. part of why I left is because i felt significantly stronger in the game but still felt like I had hit a wall with Solo play. I could no longer solo the bosses and thus could no longer get the best gear. Now that i have a bit more time i was considering coming back but dont feel like only playing for 1-2 hours a day would be enough to make significant progress.
Hello Duky, New to the game and just unlocked 5th job at level 200 and joined a class discord like you said and was so excited to be part of the community for the first time ever but for some reason I couldn’t type in the server and make new friends because I wasn’t level 240+, im not sure if all other servers are also like this because I really wanted to join and experience the social aspect of the game :(
Some of the communities have restrictions so that hundreds of people don't ask the same questions over and over, along with prevent bots and such as well. I'm not in every community but I haven't seen a restriction to chat at 240+; I'd say make sure there isn't some rule that you need to "react" to in order to talk, some have something along the lines of: React with a star or something to confirm you are on a certain server Interactive or Heroic and confirming your region... KMS, JMS, SEA, GMS, etc..

I feel like people are afraid to return because it used to take FOREVER to recover from taking time off the game. As well as be physically behind the curve of gear. But im here to say learning events is the biggest learning curve because unlike back in the day the new game/events is basically a solo journey where the events actually give valuable items (without needing to make it to day 40/40 of a check-in type event. I could pretty easily coach a new player from brand new account to lvl 200 main with 1000 legion in less than a week of playing and less than 2hrs of game play a day. My biggest issue is grinding/legion used to be an insane mountain, but this event has taught me that they no longer treat leveling like the greatest accomplishment in the game (which is a positive IMO) and because they shifted ideologies they give all player the chance to build to bosses and mid/end game content
I remembered when i first played maple, i always look up to the first nightlord "Looped" because i accidentally used the dice and i was a thief,i was really obsessed with him he's like Gold D Roger from one piece... Loopedd was the first nightlord king, i still remember my character was stuck at lvl 127 night lord forever...
What i miss most were the PQ's (ludi and kerning city swamp) and after the quest i get a bamboo hat as a reward 😅

MapleStory is a great game, it did changed but even today, when you play this game, it feels like your in a anime story and your the MC.
So basically a good idea to start off unless there is some big event like hyper burning. Just try out and get multiple characters to atleast 4th or 5th job to get the hang of it, get the links and legion, then try to settle on a class you want to main and grind like crazy with it. The hardest part I think is trying to find the right class for you. I've literally never made a battle mage before and I had a blast with it, completely unfunded and I'm 206 with it now. Versus I made a Buster because of the event and I feel trapped in it because I have a lot more progression on it than other classes. And used all my event rewards on it so I feel like ai have to lock in with it 😩.

I am coming back since a long break, I have never been good at grinding because I get bored easily so yeah it took years for my main to hit 200.
Thanks to the hyoer burning I am 248 now on my main and have 4 more lvl 200ish and really it kinda sucks that even tough my account is old (2006 ish) my overall dmg is quite low, I am really working on that now and yeah this video helps me get motivated to just enjoy what I am doing during the event, maybe when I hit 260 my character will get decent dmg
They should bigbang this shit and reset everything to the very start. 5 classes, kerning PQ etc Run it back for the next 20 years and do it all over again till everyone pushing age 70+ and still grinding

Is the game actually not dying anymore? I played pre-big bang and have tried coming back multiple times. Always ended up on a pserver instead and then quitting again. Its just not the same anymore.

hey man - great video really good information you shared with us. im just coming back and my biggest issue is because, i have been gone for so long it takes me forever to kill things because my gear just is not strong enough to do bosses like the "crimson keep" everyone talks about getting or the huge tree guy for earrings and rings. When i last played "sweet water gear was the best" and trying to grind now just feels super bad and slow. like i go to areas in arcane river and its just horrible lol. Then i go to areas that i can farm efficiently and there is no drops?
do i HAVE to make alts or can i just log on - do bosses i can kill and log off for the day until reset?
i been playing since before orbis came out, i been back and forth for the exact reason you said people quit. I'm an elitest and totally quit for the reason you said, i got super tilted. The loot sharing on bosses those days is what put me over the edge. im not sure if loot drops are still shared on bosses but, we had a guy not turn his pet off and looted all. so since then i play solo only. probably making it harder on myself than what it needs to be but, these days i just wanna do it on my own.
Got back to maples for 1 month now... created 7 char 1 main 6 for link skill. 1 month and I can only get my main to 218 while all the link chars are sitting at 120. At this rate it will take me 2-3 months to get to 260

Came back to maple last week and the changes were very upsetting. I used to party for lotus and Damien because I don't have meso gear, and now I can't even win a crystal because i don't do enough damage

Burning if you plan on playing on Interactive servers. You transfer those characters to an interactive server after some time.
You cannot transfer Burning World characters to Heroic servers but...
Heroic servers if you think you'd prefer a more "f2p" friendly style of play.
i think heroic is the way to go, its by far the most popular server

to keep it short, heroic can't trade and everything is grinded yourself whereas interactive you can trade and can get resources through that.
when i got lucky i got a tyrant glove back when those were super valuable... then it boomed :) in 1 scroll i remembered the time i was unlucky and lucky alright it just became bad luck
I played pre big bang and a few years after. I was defiantly a slow progress for myself it took me a few years to get to 200. now I can only get on it for a few hours before I stop playing for months or even a year. has anything changed based on pay to win? that was the turn off for myself.

Ive been playing since 2007, but 2021 was the end of It for me, should i come back now? Orni Will get burnt again in a few weeks?
There is always risk to get burnt out. Come back and play, pace yourself and don't force yourself to do the things you don't like. Obviously boss and grind progression is a must but just chip away at it and learn the game all over again. Sadly we are over halfway through this big event so you did miss out on some good stuff. It's still always worth it to try. Look at the event notes and give it some thought.

Well idk what dailies/weeklies specifically overwhelmed you but something that was a massive painpoint for me was how many daily quests we had in the arcane river but it's been made SO much easier now since now each region just requires anywhere from 200-600 monster kills in any map in that region, so no more "do 5 daily quests in each region for your daily nodes". It being so easy actually motivated me to keep doing it everyday

@@panchuzoyt9930 ya, like our vanishing journey daily is "defeat 200-600 monsters in vanishing journey" (Number depends on how many areas you have cleared) and it's the same for all the other areas. As for class I would definitely just pick whichever class you think is the coolest. I've come back recently but everything I'm hearing is that you can do basically everything with just about any class, maybe except for a couple exceptions

I made it to nightlord. I started playing Maple in 2005. Played from 2005-2009. Took a break then came back after big bang. Played again from 2011 to 2012. But I haven't played since. I'm thinking I might get back into it. Is dexless assassin still a thing? lol

Bera is playable but you gotta grind sooo hard on Elysium, maybe you can join a community and wait for a possible merge (mightttt be next year) or start fresh on reboot as a side project and see how things are before deciding

I do recommend starting fresh. I have known and know so many people from interactive that swapped over and gapped their old account in just a few months

The Maple discords haven't been a very good experience for me. I'm an old player who came back to my old main a few weeks ago and I've been trying to learn more about the game. Responses to my questions have mostly been troll answers, people telling me they're too lazy to help me, people asking me if I'm blind, or by far the most common response to any question I have: "just play reboot". I've only just now found an actual useful discord, but even they said that they're fine with trolling beginners and that it's just a coin flip on whether or not you get someone actually welcoming responding to you. Though, I have heard that Guild and Server discords are better, but they're also privated and you have to find some way to get someone else to get you in there. Shit sucks dude :/
I'll say that the maplestory discord, reddit, and etc are pretty toxic overall compared to other game communities I've been in. Not many helpful people willing to answer questions that may seem obvious to them, but aren't obvious to you. Seems like a community spilled over from league or valorant tbh. I don't even get why it's like this because this game is NOT competitive at all.

Started few weeks ago, i'm now lv224. So if i understand correctly, i train until 260 to get 6th job and afther that i grind bosses for gear (arcane gear for ex.)?
Cuz getting good gear now is almost impossible. Can't kill Damien for absolab gear, can't kill Lucid for arcane,... i'm to weak to solo it so i wait until lv260?

Lotus and damien are pretty simple to do once you learn the mechanics of them. I'm really bad learning mechanics with bosses. I just finished 6th job before ever clearing lomien runs. Gonna try them out this week now that I'm at 6th.
Practice mode allows you to use buffs and such to learn how to do the bosses further into the fight if you cant stay in long naturally.
@@God2pk what i mean is that my attack is way to low to kill them, it barely decreases in health when i try them. i'm a burning char so my weapon and gear isn't that bad i guess.
@@iTzCyperBE yeah just keep grinding and getting stronger. Higher level arcane symbols, get good rolls on your secondary and emblem (att% mainly, if you're lucky 3 line att or 2L and a boss.) Make sure your hyper stats are set well. Crit rate, ied, crit damage and boss damage most important for bosses. If not bossing, then just damage (not normal damage, thats only for monsters). You should have all 5 of those atleast level 9 by the time you're level 260. It will help you tremendously. Get a guild as well for the guild buff potion, do MP for the potions, use the buff by faming someone over 275, etc. Anything to squeeze out as much att as possible for atleast your first kill. It will get easier later on.

No you can't sadly. All classes made on burning cannot transfer to heroic worlds. (Kronos and Hyperion). But it's good for learning how to play the classes. Glad you are enjoying it and found a class you like!

@@robodude5124 the hyber burn event is still going on and you will get more benefit from creating it in heroic anyways. Be sure to use the mega burns you receive from the daily gifts from the events to get more classes and link skills for your main. Look up some videos to see what kind of class you find interesting as your main. Theres over 50 classes to choose. Don't worry about damage or boss tier videos because they are optimal end game information. Learn the game and learn your classes and find what you like most. Kronos is most popular but a lot of people like Hyperion too 😇 enjoy and pace yourself man.

I just can't seem to figure out the weekly dark world tree grind. I've been doing them every week for like a month now, but I don't feel any closer to getting absolab equips. I tried to do the Damien boss and didn't stand a dlchance. I'm at like 1.8mil CP on a night walker but feel so weak
Keep grinding to make yourself stronger. Legion and links help tremendously. Look up videos to learn the mechanics and practice the boss multiple times before diving into it. Once you get all of that down, it will start to be cake walk.

@@mcheezy i kept getting stronger and learning how the bosses worked. H Magnus was a stopping point for a bit until I learnt how to kill him quick and avoid his attacks. Progress can be slow, just enjoy the game and learn man.
@@God2pk I'm having trouble with Princess No right now. I get her super low and lose. I can easily do CZakum, CHorntail, NPap, NMagnus. Not entirely sure who to work on next
@@mcheezy to be quite honest with you, I haven't done the prequest for princess no yet. If you are for real in doubt, you could just keep waiting longer. Get more nodes and max out your v skills and get a higher level and then burst her down quickly later on. Or look up some guides to learn and understand the boss. Again, try all bosses in practice mode and take your time with that. It's an easy and free utitility to learn.

my only problem with maple its that i don’t like grind, spending hours killing mobs in a rotation is so stressful, i’m 215 rn and stuck in this lvl just bc i don’t wanna grind 😑
You don't even have to grind at that level. Do your dailies and boss dailies, MP and you'll level nearly once a day. These events make not leveling nearly impossible.

@@euurowan MP is Monster Park. Its a thing you do twice a day every single day. And make sure you try to get it done every day cause you can get a medal for doing it 77 times each day of the week. Saturday and sunday boxes are worth saving in your inv because you can get expirable exp coupons from them (sunday always exp coupons, saturday can give from any reward of the week.)
It's super easy. Takes like 5 minutes each, max. Maple tour is also very useful for money especially on heroic worlds. Can get roughly 300m mesos a week on it.
