Wow, what a great surprise to see this one pop up! Motorpsycho are one of my all time favorite bands and somewhat of a national treasure here in Norway. Always doing their own thing and always delivering quality. Their newer stuff is great but their stuff from the 90's is legendary. Recommendations: The Golden Core, Un Chien D'Espace and S.T.G.
Great to see Motorpsycho getting some love, I think they're underappreciated outside of Norway. I got into them through Jaga Jazzist years ago (who seem to have more of a following in the UK) but I've yet to bump into another Motorpsycho fan. Thanks Dean, enjoyed this one 👌
Their album The All Is One is about the best rock album of the 21st century. The 5 piece suite N.O.X. is a fantastic mixture of King Crimson, Steve Reich and Hawkwind. You've got to check it out!
Motorpsycho are almost unknown in Uk but I discovered them about 5 years ago and their music is so varied it’s incredibly hard to define them. Probably the last 15 years has been stoner rock mixed with folk rock but they have covered prog, pop, psychedelic, country, grunge and metal. Live they are very heavy and jam for hours like grateful Dead meets hawkwind. I love bits of all these eras and they are worth exploring and all their side projects or which there are many. Hard to like everything but they are so prolific almost a new album every year since early 90s incredible rabbit hole, have fun
This is my favorite band! They from Norway and have an impressive discography, with almost an album a year or sometimes some projects for special occasions. They can varied their style from psychodelic, to jazz, to grunge-ish, to sludge, even some pop or country, and of course, progressive rock.
Fantastic :-) Thanks to this patreon!! I keep suggesting Motorpsycho to prog and hard-rock fans alike. Their catalogue is massive and varied, going through a lot of styles (alt-rock, psychedelic indie, stoner metal, neo-prog), but in the last 15 years, they've created their own brand of (often heavier) space/prog-rock. Always showing their retro influences, but never simply being copy-cats. To me, they are one of the best bands of this kind around today! Other Motorpsycho suggestions: "The Alchemyst"; "The Promise"; "Cloudwalker", "The Tower"... just to get started and leaving out some 20+ minutes epics ;-)
@@deanwolfechannel you're welcome. Feel free to dip in one or the other track. All the ones mentioned above are already in the prog style they have refined over the years. But if you enjoy that, take also a look maybe at Motorpsycho before 2010 (stylistically quite different). They've been around since '89/'90. Apart from the general stylistic changes, they also have some gorgeous tender acoustic moments in their discography...
Motorpsycho is one of Norway most productive bands. Their catalogue is huge, with a new release almost every single year since 1990. I’ve seen them live many times, and they are truly a world class liveband. The concerts are long, and you never know what to expect. They can end up jamming away for 45 minutes before finishing the song they started. These guys are masters at their craft. So many great albums, so there is a huge rabbithole to dive into. The Tower would be an excellent full album react😉🙏🏻
Yes they’re a class act live. Saw them at Rockefeller in Oslo at the start of the millennium and they kept it going for more than 2.5 hours, which I had never experienced at any other concert before. Really loved how they played Watersound with that epic swap from acoustic to electric guitar
Motorpsycho is one of those bands you HAVE to see live. Sure, albums like "Panerothyme" or "Let them Eat Cake" can be digested at home and truly loved, but they're mainly a live band. Their energy on stage is like nothing else. Cheers
I have been working my way backwards through the Motorpsycho back catalogue and it is astonishing. Their more recent albums are excellent and could be as strong as anything they have ever done. I was familiar with the Jaga Jazzist collaboration from some years ago but only recently dived in deep. This is superb. My first time hearing.
Even as a dyed-in-the-wool prog fan I still love Motorpsycho. That particular Pandora's box was opened for me by their epic album 'The Death Defying Unicorn' and I have been entranced ever since. Definitely looking forward to their new album (out at the beginning of April)
@@odindahle ... definitely amongst my most favourite albums (along with 'Grace for Drowning', 'Milliontown', 'Relayer', 'Animals' and 'In Absentia', to name but a few)!
My favorite prog band! Thank you for this reaction :) I always struggled to keep up with their discography... Any time I remember to check what's new, there's a new album :D And all of them are awesome!
Motorpsycho were my last rock concert before the pandemia brought things to a hold. The gig was pretty heavy, with an emphasis on their stoner/drone-metal material, yet in one of their proggier jams, they suddenly broke into a full rendition of Wishbone Ash's "The Pilgrim". It was awesome 👍
One of my favourites. Great, great band, almost an album a year, sometimes more. Actually, the new album would be a great starter, only around 28 to go 🙆♂️👏👍 They have done so much, not one bad album. Love Death Unicorn and Heavy Metal Fruit, the recent trilogy is brilliant, then there is the early brilliance of Timothy's Monster and Demon Box, not forgetting the run of grunge come indy come pop early 2000s albums. Nobody else sounds like Motorpsycho, love the guitars and mellotron. Only Pain of Salvation can match these guys, completely different style though. Had to laugh, sorry. New progressive bands, lol. They have been around thirty years.
The name is after a Russ Meyer movie. They went to the theater and there it was: Motorpsycho, Faster pusycat kill kill and mudhoney. The other films names were already taken, so...

Lots of UK Motorpsycho fans in the UK - mostly in prog circles
Well, you have to be a Woodward to enjoy Motorpsycho, it seems. 😁 Great band!
Anymore Woodwards out there? 😁😉🤣
@@deanwolfechannel There aren't enough woods left to ward in the UK, so we're spread pretty thin these days, surviving however we can 😔🎻
Dude, me and all my friends are Motorpsycho fans. With much, much love from Belgium ;-)
Thank you for checking out Motorpsycho, Dean. There’s quite a deep rabbit hole waiting...

Just had a look at how many releases are listed on Discogs ... I didn't realise how many I was missing!
Solid discography that includes maybe the best album ever made, The Death-Defying Unicorn
@@mysticsaxophone4181 TDDU is one of my favourite albums too
Without a doubt the best band ! Great for checking this out.

With such a big catalog, it helps to get your guidance, thanks

Wow! Great pick! 🤗
I love Norwegian Prog!!!
This reminds me of Clutch/Monster Magnet for sum reason.💓💓💓💓 love it! Ok it sounds like early Genesis now! The Watch comes to mind as well
Nice.
Good.
It reminds me Wishbone Ash.

What is this song called???
I have since added to title
The name was likely a result of someone mishearing "motorcycle" :D
