Thanks again for another informative video.....Both myself and partner had differing year end dates so we simply played safe and did Silver via a BA holiday to 80 TP routes like Greece etc. May go mad and consider Sri Lankan AUH-CGK as you ably showed us in a previous video....we do enough background flights to pick up the rest.....Look forward to the next video for creative ideas for gathering points for future trips.

RU saving that green hat for a paddies day tier run to the USA in march Matt? The wife & me just booked 1st class rtn LHR-JFK march next year for st Patrick’s day incl 5 day hotel for double tier points. The 1st cabin was only couple of hundred more than club in the sale & when I saw that the flight was only ( I say only 🙄 ) £1100 e/w & yet a later flight was £8000 e/w we couldn’t help ourselves, I know not exactly a cheap tier point run but you only fly 1st & live once 🙂
The hat was procured for me on our Patreon trip to Madrid.... I'm sure it will make further, more prominent appearances!! Enjoy NYC - as you rightly say, you only live once and that's going to be an amazing experience!

I finally get my gold status in October and have planned a LA trip from Dublin in October to obtain gold until March 2026. Then making forward plans from May next year. Bit of a pain, but at least I know now it ends up at the end of March..
I'm gold and generally do what it takes to stay there!!! I lived overseas for many years so was only in the ba scheme since 2012 so lifetime status is unlikely for me....

As mentioned in other Videos ...the Ground Handling in Ath is still very chaotic. On my 12 flights this year so far, all were delayed because of the bad Handling. Just Chaos.

£2 per tier point tops.... £1.50 used to be the goal but inflation has nobbled that.... The next video (on Tuesday) will share a few ways of getting them for under this target
I’m in agreement with another comment, I think some in BA watch your videos in order to close loopholes, but we sincerely appreciate your efforts in keep us informed to try and make the best of the ‘game’, whilst acknowledging BA hold all the cards.

Hello! It's available to members with UK or US based accounts, on holidays originating the UK. So if your account is based in Ireland, I don't think you're able to benefit. If its based in the UK, then you're ok.... I know Ireland is a different country, so why would you have a UK based account???, but Northern Ireland can make things complicated....

Still not clear what happens from BA to People who step down to next tier during April 2024 and March 2025 - I step down to Silver in November - seems all I could garner before from a Gold helpline rep was it will step down again to bronze in May 2025. So annoying they are being coy about what happens to stepped down status. Especially if it means only 6 months of silver as opposed to 12.
I think the BA agents are just as fed up of all this as we are!!! But the soft landing period is the ultimate loss for everyone when all of this unwinds....
Yes. Everyone loses doesn’t make me feel better about losing. Imagine stepping down in March and only getting a month or two of Silver before hitting Bronze. Knowing that those people exist doesn’t make me feel any better about it. They should let the step down periods run as normal it doesn’t affect the new TP collection years. Everyone happy. (Maybe not BA but then if taking 10-2 months of silver status that has technically been earned away from loyal customers makes BA happy - 2 years gold and 1 year silver before re qualifying for gold strategy has been cut short it seems. Oh well. BA is the quintessence of Britishness in that regrd! “Oh well!” 😂
Not what you were discussing, but to me, the most egregious thing BA ruled is how you can't get a points upgrade from an economy seat unless its in a higher bucket - something hardly any leisure customers buy unless its all that's left in the chocolate box. ( And to deliberately buy such a ticket to be eligible for an upgrade would never be economic ). I also don't like how you can't upgrade to any more than one cabin stage ( unlike Virgin who allow going from Econ to Upper ). I also saw what they are doing with the Nectar exchange, now going down to 0.5p ! Boo ! Boo ! Boo !

If you travel between 1 and 30 April 2025, that will count towards your new year that would have started on the 1st. If you get silver (or gold) between those dates status will last until April 30 2026
@matt Matt, what happens when you have Gold status until Nov 2025 and then drop down to silver because you might not have gained enough tier points? You would normally get a year on the drop down to silver to, for example Nov 2026 in my case. Does this now mean that I will lose my dropdown Silver status on 31st March 2026 if i dont get enough tier points within the collection year? First post. Always watch the vids. Thanks Alex! The soft landing is where these changes pinch.... You'd keep gold until the end of the Grace Period (November if you've already included it in your comment, December if not) then the soft landing would run until March 31, but you'd also get the new, shortened grace period until 30 April. So the later in the year your old year was, the longer the effective grace period will be though transition, but the shorter the soft landing will be
My TP year end was the 8th March, so don't think I've been terribly affected besides a really short overlap period of the 8th-31st March? Or does that mean an extra year if I qualify for Gold by January? (Which I will thanks to 3 double TP holidays)
You may be interested to know BA are telling me I am not entitled to some roll over tier points. I called several times and have emailed twice but to no avail. I could be wrong in my understanding but I don’t think so. My tier point year ended 8 May 24, I retained Silver. I flew PE from Dubai to Abz on 8 April 24 so within the new transition period as my outbound flights were 31 March. I correctly received 400 tier points for the whole journey, each way being 10+90 then 90+10 x 2 for double points promotion. My lifetime tier point balance was updated correctly by 400 points, however, BA have only rolled over 100 tier points into this new year for the return flight during the transition period. So I keep on querying why 200 points weren’t rolled over, BA simply keep repeating that 400 tier points have already been credited to my account and that 100 is the correct roll over figure. Am I wrong ?? Any advice would be much appreciated.
I think 200 is the right number - the flight departing on 31 March wouldn't qualify.... BA's had all sorts of trouble with their double tier points posting that this is perhaps not a surprise.... If it doesn't make an urgent difference, I'd let it run for a while to see if the system catches up, otherwise its call and call again sadly

Indeed. And if you do have an upgradable economy seat on a long haul flight, as you say, the best you can do is bump it to Premium Economy

March is a relatively simple month - both ways end up with status expiring on April 30th so its pretty easy to sail through
