So what would you have me do? I've worked two jobs all of my life and I couldn't save any money because my mother was poor, and others around me too. My mother and step father we're alcoholics, didn't have much money and the utilities we're always getting turned off in the winter almost freezing to death and in the summer almost burning up. There was a study performed by a Veteran Wall street financial analyst. He stated that when people are afraid, scared or over stressed that they tend to shop more and spend more. And he also tracked the spending of Americans during any type of National crisis, scandal or violent circumstance, that people will spend more beyond their means. Or maybe...maybe the kids do not have issues? Real issues that is. Nowadays, nearly everybody is "anxious" or "on the spectrum" and needs pills for it too. Nearly everybody is mentally afflicted in some way or another and needs "adjustments". 20 years ago, we didn't have bipolars on every corner...and ADHD wasn't a thing. Parents did parent and did not stand for these psychiatric shenanigans.
@@jvnd2785 A few months ago, I was driving in heavy traffic and my fight or flight response went completely haywire. I wanted to jump out of the car and start running. Fortunately, I was able to control it long enough to get off of the road. Stupidly, I wrote it off as an anomaly, and a few days later, it happened again. It was so bad that I thought I was dying. For the next few days--as that was the soonest I could get a doctor appointment--I tried driving around my neighborhood. Each time, I was panicked, thinking I was going to pass out or freak out. When I went to the doctor, I was prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft), which, after a few weeks and dosage adjustments, got my anxiety under control. I'm glad your mental health is so superior and dependable that you can trivialize those of us who aren't so blessed. I only ask that should you ever find yourself "anxious" to the point that you think you're having a heart attack, and you find yourself unable to *macho b.s.* your way out of it, DON'T seek treatment. I'd hate for you to make a complete hypocrite of yourself. Pretty sure a lot of people are using shopping to cope with crippling loneliness and a lack of places to actually socialize. A lack of third spaces, time for yourself, and time with others you care about and who care about you.
I'm also guessing that people who still have some extra spending money are definitely going out , but are spending less than they did 3+ years ago. I was in Denver the other night, noticing there were people out and about at the bars and clubs, but I have to wonder if instead if spending the usual let's say $100 on drinks, are these people spending half that maybe? and periodically taking shots in their car or carrying a flask in their purse or something? Seeing people out and about shopping or eating out doesn't mean everyone's spending what they used to. People cut back before they completely stop going out at all.

Going out to eat is not cheaper than making meals at home. I hear that so often and it’s mind boggling 😵💫 I’m assuming they don’t know how to grocery shop, cook and plan meals? 🫤 the way they markup prices to go out to eat is wild. Right! it depends where you live. Where I work, we are a lot less busy than we were 3+ years ago and business just keeps getting slower & slower. And people come to false conclusions with what they see - "oh the stores are crowded, people's karts are full, restaurants are crowded so that automatically means things are fine and they're all spending just as much as they always spend". But they don't consider that maybe a lot of people are prioritizing stocking up on groceries vs buying other unnecessary things, or maybe the people out at restaurants are keeping their tab lower than usual - ordering trout or chicken instead of steak or lobster, water or sprite instead of cocktails , etc.

Find me a socialist or communist nation that does not have trouble feeding their own populations. Just. One. Example. Stop with the programming. The guy at 5:55 is reason why you can't have lots of kids in this economy. Sure, it was great 10 years ago, but now it's not. (Having kids now is a privilege, like being able to buy a house or finance a car) He says he has 4 kids, I bet that 19 year old will end up moving back home after college cause in this economy you can't do anything, and he has 10 more years with the youngest till they go to college, too. (and in that time he needs to plan therapy for them, take the kids on camping trips and vacations, buy them Christmas presents, help out with homework, celebrate birthdays, etc.) Hopefully the 19 year old can get a part time job and help out with bills, or the dad goes back to work. It's tough out there man. I can't imagine having so many kids.
Up until about four years ago, people were in debt, but not anywhere close to now. People could find a job, pay most of their bills, have fun and not feel crushing pressure to move back in with mom and dad or someone else. They turned up the heat, and along with the bills we already had, it became impossible. to keep up. Taxes went up, insurance went up, fees on everything were added or increased or both, gas went up, utilities too. Rent is in the stratosphere. The only way to avoid being run over completely is to find a way to either not pay rent, or pay a normal amount in a shared situation of some kind. People are opting for vehicle living, and even then you're looking at around $1,000 a month just for food, essentials, car repairs, medicine, pet food maybe, personal items, camping equipment, parking fees, car insurance, gas, clothing/blankets, solar equipment and converters, etc. Some are simply couch surfing and sponging off friends and family. The economy has to crash for everything to come back down to earth. The rich and the greedy have picked our pockets. Squeezed us like lemons. Stolen every dime they can. We must find ways to survive and take care of ourselves. We must prioritize for our safety and well being.
@yellowbird5411 Spot on. The rich will just continue telling us to "budget better, pinch more pennies" and "work harder". They're incredibly out of touch with how this all impacts someone making less than $150k, $100k/yr. It gets to a point where it has very little or nothing to do with budgeting. I can only budget so much when I have to pay rent, groceries, gas but am not making enough to cover it all because prices of those things have shot thru the roof.

So RFK was making this argument. What's WRONG with us?! Bad medicine. Bad diagnoses? Bad food? Pollution in the air and water? My theory is, most of these, but not all. People have lived in polluted places before. What IS different is a sense of place and peace, where people had roles, responsibilities, and COULD NOT fail, no matter how they felt. If you concentrate on how terrible things are, yes, you're going to feel bad. In older times, you didn't have TIME to think so deeply about your misery. Survival was everything and our basic instinct.

I have the same question as one of the lady in the video. One side ppl are struggling and everything is so much more expensive, but on the other side, everywhere is packed. More ppl are traveling for vacation. We heard ppl worked in one of the national park said they had 2M more visitors this summer! All restaurants are packed even on weekdays evenings. I just wonder what is the real situation, not as many ppl struggling as we thought or ppl just don’t care anymore and put all on credit cards? 🤔
Several possible reasons. Four that I can think of off the top of me head: 1) it's free to go walk around at Walmart or Target or the mall. You don't actually have to buy anything. People are bored since they have very little money to spend, so this is where they might go to get out of the house and have "fun", maybe buy a few necessities while they're at it. 2) people who have more money and maybe used to spend it on more expensive things like weekend getaways or 4 hours of top golf, they're still going out and spending but for all we know, they may be spending much less than they used to or are picking Chick Fil A, Chili's or Texas Roadhouse over the 5 star steakhouse they used to go to. Maybe they're buying chicken or trout or salad , instead of steak and lobster when they're at these restaurants. 3) People still have to eat. And so the people with full grocery karts - again, these could be the same people who have more $ than some of us others but perhaps they're prioritizing groceries vs eating out as much or vs spending on other unnecessary things. 4) credit cards As far as people taking more vacations or filling up these national parks, again this could be people who have more $ than some of the rest of us but are opting for cheaper or shorter vacation options. National parks and going camping and such, that's a lot cheaper than taking a 2 week trip to Hawaii.
Anyone complaining on TikTok or YouTUbe should have to disclose who they voted for at the beginning of each video. That would save us a lot of problems.
Captitalism isn't the problem. People buying too much crap.. is the problem. People fell for it and this is the result. Be stronger than the system. Stop doom spending.

I think a lot depends on the local economies. I was exchanging comments with someone from Phoenix and the inflation was much different from the Midwest. He said his parents in Ohio had lower inflation also. I know four Gen Z who have bought houses in the past two years. One is a nice house. One is a starter home. The other two I don't know the details. Son is helping someone clean his apartment tonight as he's moved to his new (to him) house. The videos I see about retirement, no one can find a job, etc. are foreign to me as I see something different where I live and the people I know. That's in part why I think it has to do with the local economies. Middle class point of view here. Hoping good things for all.
This is a real question, I mean this wholeheartedly as I ask this...but...are we supposed to be okay with being required to possess multiple streams of income to enjoy basic life? We dont have the energy for all that. We barely have energy from the SINGLE stream of income. The single stream should be enough. ❤
@@chand.4401 a single stream should be enough but there has been a paradigm shift that necessitates change. Eventually AI will take so many jobs a universal basic income will be required. In the interim, regarding work, happiness is a low priority. Survival should be paramount.
I’ve been wondering the same thing because they’re building all these lofts in my city and I’m like who is about to fill these buildings up during a housing crisis??? But people are moving in 🤷🏽♀️
A lot of people come from more expensive areas. Many sold their homes and are downsizing. There are people in the middle class who have real estate and have some dollars flowing in and out. Some are investors, or have their own businesses that are doing well. Some are sharing rent with others so are still OK. Some don't have cars, but have a motorcycle or scooter. Some actually live in their vehicles and work full time. Some are retired seniors who have multiple streams of income beyond Social Security. Some are there with others who are paying the tab. Sometimes it's a birthday lunch or dinner, or other occasion. Put all those together, plus those who are just putting it on credit, and you can have a full restaurant.
Many healthy seniors would be happy to care for an infant. Seniors can provide before and after school care. They will be happy for the extra income and your child will receive better care. CPR training should be required. Seniors don't charge as much as daycares charge. Start your own in home child care (up to 6 children without special licenses) Many of you have family members you can ask. Got to be creative. ❤

Sounds like you also haven't experienced a layoff. Once you're aware of how expensive everything has gotten, it shouldn't be that hard to grasp why lots of others are struggling right now.
Why there is a problem is some people did not pay rent during covid and afterwards as well and the government making laws that stopped those apartments from throwing them out have made it so they had to raise rent to make the loss so they can pay their mortgages. So blame the circumstances not the the apartments. Now saying that it is not capitalisms fault but I don't know what we can do to correct it and help people with their money problem. It's just terrible
I keep telling people "free money" isn't free. These migrants and immigrants will find this out when the government comes back to garnish their paychecks.
The issue is inflation and CRONY capitalism that we are currently living under! It feels like everything, every system, work, school is set up to work ok if everything is functioning normally and people have normal situations, like no disabilities / learning differences in their family . The reality is that every thing is NOT normal. For example, we were without power for 16 days this year due to natural disasters. Nothing is normal or" new normal" and every system in our lives, including the monitary system , needs reform.
Idky people equate capitalism with greed. It's more like socialism for the rich right now and the biggest example was '08 crisis when the banks were bailed out with taxpayer funds.
What is going on right now is basically the opposite of capitalism. It pisses me off that everyone keeps tossing ignorance around like this. If people think capitalism is such a problem then I challenge them to make the competing alternative work like it has for so many others...
Selling multiples is a new way to make up for the lack of sales. I was trying to buy a couple of cans of evaporated milk online at THE major retailer. The price for one was absurd. The only way I could pay a "normal" price was if I got 24. So I did. I'm good for a year or two. Online purchases are selling in bulk for so many items. You want a bottle of shampoo? You will have to get three, four or six of the same brand if you don't want to pay through the wazoo.

Problem with americas capitalism is big corporations get help from the government and can borrow at cheaper rates than the lower 80% of America to take advantage of us.
Sadly it didn't take long for the DNC talking points to take hold. Price gouging is not the issue, inflation and energy cost are.The reason everything is expensive is not so grocers' can become rich it is the sum total of the cost to run the business. If the government enacted price control there would just be a lot less choice and very few small businesses. Remember the Affordable care act well it forced doctors to from groups which has had the effect of limiting choice in healthcare providers.

@@jvnd2785 A few months ago, I was driving in heavy traffic and my fight or flight response went completely haywire. I wanted to jump out of the car and start running.

Four that I can think of off the top of me head:
1) it's free to go walk around at Walmart or Target or the mall.
4) credit cards
As far as people taking more vacations or filling up these national parks, again this could be people who have more $ than some of the rest of us but are opting for cheaper or shorter vacation options.

The videos I see about retirement, no one can find a job, etc. are foreign to me as I see something different where I live and the people I know. That's in part why I think it has to do with the local economies. Middle class point of view here. Hoping good things for all.
the last video was amazing 🔥😂
The only way out of this is to have multiple streams of income. Leave well below your means and expect inflation to continue to in the future.
I agree. I guess working 2 jobs and living with family/roommates while saving up and budgeting is the way to survive through inflation.
This ain’t inflation it the new normal
Jobs aren’t hiring that much so how are people going to get a second stream of income?
But people are moving in 🤷🏽♀️
Another reason why the price gouging continues because somehow people find a way to pay
Not everyone is broke 😂

You still have to feed your family…
A common theme among people struggling is, they have an entire gang of kids.
The price of groceries and going out to eat are basically neck and neck it's Ridiculous
Young people think they have all the answers. And are so far off
If you don’t absolutely need a car it’s better to spend that money over the 5 years investing than on a Depreciating Asset. In 5 years the Dividend will pay for that car note and you will have Shares to use as a “red button” if things get crazy. We do not invest in the Market. Black People have to gain the discipline for playing the long games instead of looking for quick hits(stop feeding betting apps!).
P.S. 2:08 The simple truth is that’s People like me with no Children. I don’t hate kids but I knew 20 years ago I didn’t want any. It’s sad to see that the People who want them AND HAVE THEM can’t really afford them.😢
Many people want kids and aren't dumb enough to have them out of wed lock and when they don't have money. But dumb dumbs do what they do. I didn't really want kids at first but then I met a nice girl and it made me change my mind. She ended up being crazy but I could see a future with my own if things aligned. I sure as shit ain't doing it alone.
Yall don't know what true capitalism looks like. What we have in the US is more like corporate socialism.
It's crony capitalism where the government picks the winners and losers.
And most don’t realize a private bank controls their monetary system, and has been devaluing the currency for nearly a century.
@@kfUNC1 None of what you just said is reality. Private banks have zero control over currency valuation. You know what does? When the treasury dept decided to print MORE money to give to everyone during the pandemic, and if you haven't noticed this problem is going on across the globe.
@@Pleasiotic1 The Federal Reserve is a private bank, not a federal agency. Congress is supposed to control the minting of money. They began devaluing the dollar in 1933 when FDR attempted to confiscate the gold and subsequently repriced it. It’s been devaluing ever since. And yes printing trillions of dollars during the CV has also added to that problem. I suspect we’re talking about the same issue.
Yes it functions off of competition, which corporations lobby to keep it away. In many different ways.
I don’t understand, I live in Nashville and nothing changed for me . I have one job and all my bills are covered , I own my house , cars , truck and motorcycle. I have 89k saved up I’m a welder A shift mon-wed, B shift thurs-sat . No matter which shift you choose you work 3 days a week and have 4 days off if I want to work extra day I can . I make 1,314 a week after taxes most of the time over 2k a week for working 2 extra days . I never use credit cards , never take out loans , buy my vehicles in cash .

That’s because the people who make these videos have to stunt for the gram, so they don’t really understand concepts such as living in accordance to your means.
I call BS on "nothing changed for me" It's simple - You just don't pay attention to the increased grocery prices, gas prices, and utilities because you're doing well enough that it hasn't had any kind of significant impact in your case.
Free money isn't free. You all should have been more concerned when they were paying people to stay home.
🧐
I keep telling people "free money" isn't free. These migrants and immigrants will find this out when the government comes back to garnish their paychecks.
For real
I don’t want to hear anyone who doesn’t budget complain about money issues.
The issue is inflation and CRONY capitalism that we are currently living under! Our debt based dollar issued by a private central banking cartel (The Federal Reserve) has lost the majority of its purchasing power since Nixon took us off the gold standard in '71. You want scarcity and empty grocery store shelves, vote for Harris and her "price controls"!
It's very heart breaking to sell your ring and file for bankruptcy
I have no debt. I paid it all off in August. Also sold my car.

I have $34,000 in savings, but still live paycheck to paycheck. I do so, so I don't touch my savings for a down-payment on a home. Am I struggling or not?
Idk
I don't think you're struggling. $34k is a lot to have in savings for a lot of people. I have between $5-$10k in the bank. As long as you can pay your bills and not have to use credit cards then you should be fine.

You mean corporate socialism? Because last time I checked the government doesn’t like to see banks and businesses fail as such that capitalism is intended to cause if you make shitty products.

True. I've noticed less customers than usual at Raleys and often come across shoppers who put things back after seeing the price. Myself included. This store is in a decent area too.
Every comment you make is spot on!
Okay for people working services. Cashier, Amazon, Etc...Your only seeing people with the means to spend. there's plenty but there's also plenty more who you don't see too. Dont 4get about them. You cant just judge the whole situation based off how many people u see shopping in your store or how many boxes u carry on your truck..Just like Dee said a lot of people are in debt shopping off credit cards anyway or spending money they don't have...That UBER driver really said "All my riders have atleast 2-3 jobs" . That's Big Cap and not even possible..This is not one of those situations u can base off what you see bcuz people arent doing right with the money they do get...So just bcuz ppl are in stores dont mean its not tough out here.

America is great because of capitalism, But none of the problems are because of capitalism.......🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

What is going on right now is basically the opposite of capitalism. It pisses me off that everyone keeps tossing ignorance around like this. If people think capitalism is such a problem then I challenge them to make the competing alternative work like it has for so many others...

People you need to know how variable interest rates work when you are buying a house, in most cases it is not a deal

Inflation is worse than high interest rates. With high interest you need to just send less. With inflation you need to spend less and make more.

If the government enacted price control there would just be a lot less choice and very few small businesses.
