      The paneling is nice, not the best out there but it's clean enough for a manga, though the art style and character designs are the things i absolutely hate. But that's subjective. Don't get me wrong, the art is absolutely spot on, mostly recent panels, they're top notch.

    Idc what anyone says. The art and paneling in my hero is top tier. It doesn't have to be vagabond or berserk style to have good art. My hero style is cartoony, sharper, striking and dramatic. This later arc has been great along with the villians arc. My hero was just solid for me but it really is grown.

In BC, even the minor side characters get their moments to shine, cool fight scenes and character development, never mind the actual main cast. In MHA, we've barely gotten any good development/cool moments for half of class 1A.
      Like, when's the last time we saw Sero (tape guy) or Ojiro (tail guy) do anything significant? Whereas Klaus or Leopold in BC have defeated some notable villains in the latest arc and they're side characters.

    MHA is a quintessential 6-7/10 for me. Its a great shounen with awesome moments and characters but doesn’t quite hit it off as one of the greats. My feelings and score could either rise or fall as the story and characters develops more down the line, but as of now its just fine. I don’t agree with much of the hate it gets and I don’t agree with some of the praise either. Its just a good series that’s very accessible to many and it makes sense why/how it gathered the massive audience it has.

      I think the series gets carried hard by its villains tbh. Sure, there are some interesting characters on the side of the heroes but they don´t hold a candle to the quality of the series´ antagonists. Shigaraki might become one of the greatest villains in the shonen genre, heck he´s already way better than most, but if only half your roster is great and the other half is just acceptable that makes for a good but not a great series.
      I do however have faith in the franchise because the last few arcs have gotten better and better and I like the direction the world building is going. If Horikoshi plays his cards right his manga can become a solid 8/10 for me once it´s finished.

      Think I agree with this, for me it's a 5 or 6 and I don't think the characters are that good and they come off as one note tropey characters. A character like Endeavour however is very compelling and more morally grey and I look forward as an anime only to seeing his story progress. I think the villains are kinda average but again i'm an anime only and I hear they get their own arc and develop accordingly. I don't really like Shigaraki but hopefully he gets more interesting and his backstory actually tracks with his actions in the narrative and comes off as consistent.
      Just rambling my thoughts I guess, it's just mediocre with some good moments and i'm kinda watching it because of sunk cost fallacy and just hope it improves more

    I'm happy you made this video and by the fact that unlike many people you didn't just attack MHA and Deku but gave professional criticisms. I understand why people would feel bored of the down arcs and want things to progress already, although I never felt that way. I think the reason Horikoshi-sensei does that is because the sitting is a school and you have to show the characters as students and heroes in training. Although with the recent happenings in the story, I think that's out of the window now.

    • @raec5426

      Yeah, I mean if you did not have some of the downtimes at all, you would not care about the characters even more then some people already claim they may not. lol And I think a point is to make the kids feel like kids which contrast how currently they feel like child soilders. And yeah, some people really like seeing the power progression of the students since it feels more rewarding to see their progress from before. My Hero ACADEMIA is in the title after all.
      Once the students get main focus as a whole in the narrative again and progress further, I think many will appreciate being able to track their improvements from earlier on but for those who want more hype in the narrative NOW, they will underappreciate those moments in the more present times but maybe appreciate it more in retrospect later. MHA's author is a slow burn writer and many want quick pay off but in retrospective I think many people will appreciate stuff (biggest case is the growth of the villians when people complained how they sucked at the beginning. Same is in the works for Deku as well, can't wait to see the switch up once he gets his big moment of growth. lol).

      All of your point is invalid, first of all the writing is original, the omly thing that is generic is the superhero system, but that is the first in Anime history, and the plot is also different. The protagonist is not suck, its a really good protag morepver for a shoune category its just the best. The pacing is definitely really good its better than One Piece.
      The plot is not dry, its more like predictable because in the season 2 we already know all of this a flashback.
      Yeah well buddy about his fight its not that simple, fight in anime is not just they win then its finish no bro its not like that look at the context, lets take Muscular for example well yeah Deku won the fight but did he won the battle tho ? They basically lose because Bakugi got kidnapped, moreover that was also the root of All Might retirement, i dont think u can say that as a win. But yrah i agree deku won against every villain.
      In naruto the other genin was only get the spotlight in the chunin exam after that they became irrelevant, and to provide that BNHA wont reveal all the side character in just one arc, they take it slowly like Todoroki in S2, Bakugo in S3, and Kirishima and Mirio in S4, etc.
      Well deku the MC Lmao what do you expect ? You want Deku to be like Gon ? Which in HXH literally the MC is killua.
      Nah we saw deku done more than Mirio in just deku first year, he already prove himself. Todoroki without his family problem is pretty bland, and it could end in just 200 chapter or around 5 season.
      No you wrong BNHA is good for both Veterans and New, because u can get away with not paying attention so much into the series, and it will reward u more if u pay attention to the serious.

    I strongly/respectfully disagree with your take on the Class A/B arc. Are they probably the weakest arcs in the story? yes, but they do serve a purpose. 99.9% of shonen puts children in unrealistic life/death and save the world situations, painting them as the heroes of legend who accomplish all their life goals before turning 18. Do I have an issue with this? No im a shonen-tard, but the High School arc in my hero are there to get across the idea to the reader that despite all these life and death situations, these are first and foremost kids living everyday life. This allows for more emphasis on their life and death situations, introducing more tension into the more intense arcs.
    PS. Horikoshi's editors are known for telling him not to make MHA too dark or it won't be too markatable so that's my guess why he throws in slice of life arcs after a major one, ie Overhaul doing child abuse, human experimentation, and giving a girl stockholm syndrome was followed up by a school festival arc.

    Hey, a few points of arguments against some of your criticisms:
    I will argue the importance of arcs like class 1-a vs 1-b or the provisional license exam. These arcs are necessary for the establishment of the world. The training arcs make since in the story and are necessary because they are in school. We have to have arcs focused on everyday school life because the main character is a students. These arcs show that the chaos of the world do not revolve around the students. It makes since that there will be repetition because of having the story take place in a school. Schools are realistically repetitive and my hero has show realistic lasting consequences than other shounen manga. These arcs also establish justification and explanations for why the student are capable as heroes.
    Also, to clarify one thing. Deku never unlocks a new power. He always learns a new way to apply that power. The only new powers that he gains derived form situation of necessity and chance. He unlocked Black whip by chance and unlocked float in a moment of danger but he was training to use float before hand.
    And to answer the question OFA by all might never learned about the other quirks. One, I was naturally able to handle the use of all for one. Two, never I’d ever saw the vestiges of the quirks. And theee, the quirk singularity theory. The theory states that Quirks will continue to mix together and deepen, growing in both strength and complexity with every new generation. Eventually, Quirks will develop to a point where no one will be able to control them anymore. This is mostlikly the case with AFO because it was stated that black whip is more powerful now than it was in the past.
    Also, I would also argue the importance of repetition. We see that some story beats repeat but they are tied to Deku not fully developing as a character and as a person. Deku repeatedly destroys his arms over and over again to the point of no return. Deku looks up to all might to the point of copying his and other people’s fighting styles. Reparation brings knowledge and growth. You improve at a task or action with practice which is repetition.
    And the argument of why it took him 100 chapters to use his legs instead of his arms is very weak and has an easy explaination. Deku looks up to All Might and wants to be like him to the point of only using punches like all might. Even all might himself told Deku “you’re still trying to emulate me.” Deku was hyper focus on one thing that he missed other simpler solutions which makes since for someone who mumbles to themselves a lot.

      Great counters and pointing out the part about his change in fighting style. I'm not sure how that one gets missed so often. I guess to add to your points another complaint I see alot is Deku being overpowered so virtually he's never in any real danger, but I think alot of ppl ignore the consequences he faces for the power(shattering his body as you stated earlier.). We even see in the beginning of the story when he's told by Eraser the consequences that could come if he can't even move properly, which we actually see happen during the forest camp arc when Bakugo is kidnapped and Deku not being able to do much by that point due to his body being a wreck and now the potential danger with his arms. Now we're getting the situation again in the current arc. But yea good points you made.

It's that he has a huge task ahead of him, fixing the present society, saving EVERYONE (including the villains, as a recent theme). This is something that cannot be fixed just by beating down bad guys, which has been All Might's solution. At the end of the day, Deku is not special. But he HAS to be. • @Avarn388
      @Avarn388 3 роки тому +3

      Cold Lightning9 Except Masked Man got several details wrong in his criticism of MHA. I'm all for criticism of MHA or any series, but when you get information wrong. Good critics are able to point out what's wrong with a series, explain why this is an issue and if possible provide an alternative series that does it better or even fix it. In other words, quantifying your statements. Masked Man has a nasty habit of failing to do this. He's not being "real" but really nebulous and ignorant. MHA has its share of flaws, but I argue he picked the wrong arguments to focus on.
      For example, MHA struggles quite a bit with tone. A lot of this is a byproduct of the formula it follows, but when you cut from Sports Festival to Hero killer it is awkward given how Sports Festival relatively a less darker arc than hero killer. Contrast this between Overhaul and Cultural Festival which Overhaul had its light moments but was serious from the getgo.
      Another criticism Masked Man failed to pick up on is how did All Might know that Float was going to be the next quirk Midoriya unlocked? He unlocked Black whip from the 5th user but you'd think that the 6th user is next. Finally, there are the villains of MHA prior to Tomura which some have more time to shine, but others who do not get to do a whole lot. Overhaul being a good example of this.

    I think Masked man just wants to read "My Hero" instead of "My Hero Academia". Just because a manga doesn't show an OP side character that threatens the protagonist's position doesn't mean the protagonist is automatically the most righteous one. No matter how well a fictional manga tries to portrait its protagonist, it doesn't flush out the sin of "why he/she is the one". Instead, MHA introducing Mirio actually is actually a way to face this issue because it simply admits that there can be a more suitable main character even when Deku is so much hardworking. However, the reason why this is GOOD writing for MHA is that the core writing style of MHA has always been realism, and it's stated from the beginning that this is the story of HOW Deku became the greatest hero but not WHY he became.

    • @francies4523
      @francies4523 3 роки тому +19

      Basically, all Masked man's criticisms on MHA boil down to his personal preferences on side characters and the main characters. (Him stating the "pacing" problem is just an equivalence of saying that he doesn't like the screentime for some of the side characters) Admittedly, if one can only like so many characters based on their personal taste, then when you read a manga like MHA, you could get bored sometimes like during the joint training arc. However, the fact that there are so many different characters in MHA is also exactly what makes MHA so popular because nearly every reader can find one character they resonate with the most. To me, this isn't some flaw of MHA, but yet another writing style Horikoshi chose for his story: Ensemble cast drama.

    • @francies4523
      @francies4523 3 роки тому +25

      At last, some "flaws" in detail that Masked man pointed out just frustrated me even though I appreciate him "working hard" to catch up with the latest chapters of MHA.
      For example 14:08 :
      It's not that it took Deku 100+ chapters to realize using his legs. It's only until Chapter 100 he started to think about not copying All Might's fighting style, and then he quickly figured out the shooting style. One of Deku's biggest constrain is that he was a big All Might fan. This isn't about whether he's smart, but about him trying to jump out of such a mindset and begin to think for himself of how to become his own version of a hero, which is never an easy move for anyone in real life. That's also one of the main reasons why Horikoshi introduced Mirio because Mirio is a perfect knockoff of young All Might (not Toshinori though) and Horikoshi was basically saying that it's unrealistic for Deku to compare himself to Mirio if he just wanted to become another young All Might.
      Overall, I think it's just like a popular saying for some criticisms toward MHA: many people who read MHA don't actually READ it. Cheezy as it might seem at the beginning, but if you hence overlook the subtle details and hidden layers in it, you surely wouldn't understand its success.

    Its the epitome of being nigh equally overhyped and overhated, the reality lies somewhere between depending on one's tastes and I can very well see the elements that might tickle peoples peoples fancy in just the right way and others that believably rub people the wrong way. The arcs that masked man and others don't favour at least to make up a decent percentage of this as it seems that some can enjoy seeing some lower stakes down time with the supporting cast(because even if their characters are going nowhere they are mostly likable characters) with some training stuff thrown in, a breather basically. On the other side they can be seen prolonged roadblocks in the forward momentum of the story spent with characters that seem likely to never be that relevant. Basically what I'm getting at is the ACADEMIA part of My Hero Academia plays a big role in deciding where peoples feelings lie on the series.

      Umm it is very different. Its meant to be a slow burn of a manga. Most manga characters leave for an adventure in which they grow exponentially. MHA grounds them in a school setting. Which should be around 3 years. We are expecting them to be getting better yes but closer to end of 2 or 3rd to arrive at pro hero level. Its not meant to be as fast. A dsrkening tone and really setting up things like romance from the start of the series. Just a few off top man.

    Me personally I don’t mind the school themed arcs, and in the case of the festival and A vs B arc, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The main reason being if they had these extremely high stakes life threatening situations occur over and over again, it’d be difficult to keep the core high school environment in focus, as one of the main environments of the story is a high school. I think it’s fine to take breaks between the big stuff to focus on everyday school life for the students because it not only establishes the connections between all of class a, but it also serves as a relaxer between the tension of arcs like Overhaul. This is probably because I primarily experienced the series recently through the anime and then continued to read the manga afterwards but I digress😂😂

    THANK YOU.
    This was the thing that pissed me off the most, after being able to analyse people so well he still couldn't think about using his leg instead of his fists.
    Other than that I think the main problem of MHA is that the author tries to bring in a lot of new characters and just uses them to fill the episodes, which would've been fine if they weren't shown as characters who are very important and are going to play a bigger part in the story later on whilst in reality they aren't touched upon, and the last arc of season 4 was absolutely unnecessary ( 12 episodes focused on making one child smile, sorry if you loved the arc but it could've been easily cut down to 3-4 eps ).
    I think MHA is a solid 6-7/10, nothing too bad but I think what pisses off most of the people is the fanbase and how they treat it as the greatest shonen of all time, which it isn't and they need to accept that.

  • @scottiecurrie7927
    @scottiecurrie7927 3 роки тому +4

    I think Deku is honestly a lot better of a character than people give him credit for. Sure he's a bit generic in personality and attitude, but what he represents is honestly great. Hes a starstruck kid who's transfixed on being exactly like All Might. Hes viewed All Might through the TV screen for the majority of his life, seeing heroes as the pinnacle of strength and victory and villains as enemy-of-the-week fodder to stomp through. Now that hes a hero hes practically being thrust into a world of questioning ideaology and fighting for your life at many points, with failure meaning the death of innocents. In many ways I view Deku as being just as delusional in thinking he should be exactly like All Might as Shigaraki is in thinking that the pain he has felt in the past justifies his actions of hurting people. Deku himself still doesn't have a steadfast motivation to be a hero. He has been a fanboy just trying to play hero from the start and is in way over his head.
    Thats why it means so much that a development as simple as switching from punches to kicks is so obvious yet so much development on his part. He has been practically hindering himself, trying so hard to be picture perfect to All Might, when he can't even control his own power. He hasn't given a single thought to changing the style of how he fights. In a sense, All Might left a massive mold of how to be a hero, and Deku is trying to practically stretch himself out just to fit that mold. Hes killing himself by using a power and fighting style that All Might had to build up for most of his life. When a very real consequence is put in front of him, being that he could lose his arms if he overuses his quirk, its a moment where hes woken up by reality. He cannot be a hero like All Might just because he got his power. He won't be able to break his arms, go get a kiss from the school nurse, and be ready for battle the next day. That's why it's a great change of pace. He has had his legs the entire time and could have used them, but he didn't because he was trying too hard to copy All Might. When he uses his legs, he's showing development by breaking free of the idea that he has to be the next picture perfect All Might. Hes growing as his own character and making his own steps towards becoming a hero. Such a simple development, and yet it has so much meaning behind it

    I always had a theory that may shine somelight on the whole "class A vs Class B feeling incosequential" and the "Deku feeling that he's playing catch up to better heroes" problem.
    In an interview Horikoshi said that in one of his original story outlines UA didn´t exist and Deku wasn't a hero student but a salary worker turned hero. He added the school setting and made Deku a teen because he wanted to attract a younger demographic.
    I always felt that UA was a bit out place in the world of my hero, mainly because we never see freshly graduated heroes from any of the other hero schools and the hero characters are so well developed in comparison to everybody in class 1-A. It makes me think that the existance of UA and having Deku away from hero work was something he added at the last minute.

    Everytime it's the same thing! He's pure-hearted! He's the one worthy of One For All!
    Yes- I know! It's great! I don't need literally every arc to end with the villain or side character (or sometimes both) being like "that kid's what a hero looks like"... bitch PLEASE! There's not all that much that makes Deku special other than his power! Which was fine when it was just crazy super strength! Then he gets these shitty powerups out of nowhere! And in a weird order! Why did he unlock Black Whip during some shitty training arc? Why was it triggered by some shitty kid making fun of another shitty kid (I love Bakugou but in real life he'd be nightmare to be around lol)? Why was it the first thing he unlocked? Why not Nana's quirk or literally any other user?
    How come he could completely control it literally two seconds later?
    Honestly from that point on, I kinda tuned Deku out as a protagonist. He was already starting to get slightly on my nerves. Because it's not like it had to be this way. He was, for once, an underdog protag that I actually rooted for and could actually buy his victories way back in the early days.
    But as this series goes on, he just keeps pulling shit from his ass. He doesn't even strategize anymore. He just blitzes his opponents with his overwhelming power. On the off chance he teams up with others, his plan is to just tell everyone to either stand back and let him do the blitzing... or tell everyone to just blitz should he be incapacitated.
    Even Bakugou is shown strategizing more often than Deku. It's embarrassing.

    As a bnha fan it always annoys me when people look at bnha on the surface level and assume it’s just an entertaining battle shonen without any deep themes within it. One if the main reasons i love my hero so much is precisely that: the themes it tackles and how interesting they are. The my villain academia arc is the perfect example, also the character of shigaraki and his parallels with deku. There’s an underlying message in my hero that has to do with criminality and how society shapes criminals (villains) and organizes itself to marginalize a certain group of people, and i hate that bc of the fandom and how the story is being read by the majority of people, all these things that horikoshi is trying to portray get lost. Anyways, bnha is underrated in that sense (don’t get me wrong, im not saying it isn’t popular bc it is) bc it doesn’t get all the credit it deserves for the actual things it does with its message, themes and characters that most of the time get overlooked

Also Class 1A and 1B have only fought two times out the story realistically and interacted the rest if the time. The Story doesn't have to be full of action and fast paced all the time because that would get boring and would sacrifice the character development with no substance that's why we have the training arcs or class 1A vs. 1B you have to consider the little moments because they can play an essential role in later story arc which they have for the War Arc everything we have seen in the story has a purpose. And as for Deku's character I have seen there is no winning with people complaining about his character either he progressing to fast or to slow or people constantly project his past behaviors as if Deku still acts that way now in the story or that this character should have been the protagonist blah blah and so on. In my opinion it wouldn't have mattered who the protagonist was they would have still complained and Also Horokoshi himself stated why Deku is the main Character in the recent chapters will always be the one for all people in his story. I get it My Hero isn't the end all be all of Stories but in my opinion I think the only reason people are criticizing so harshly or straight up being Voalitile with the series because it has become so popular ot has become.

    I do like My Hero Academia, but one of my problems with it (aside from the ones you named, which absolutely hit the nail on the head by the way) is that a lot of characters don't really have character arcs as much as they do small bursts of character development before becoming static for the rest of the story.
    There are certain characters in MHA like Endeavour, Shigaraki, and Bakugou who have long, slow character arcs over a long period of time that feel earned (probably why they're considered some of the best characters in the series). But for every character like that, there's five Iidas, Todorokis, Urarakas, and Momos. Characters who get some character development over a single short arc, and that's it for the rest of the series.
    Iida got a lot of good character development in the Stain arc, but nothing else before or after that. Uraraka and Todoroki got a lot of good character development in the tournament arc, but nothing else before or after that. Momo got some character development during the Hero exams arc, but nothing else before or after that. Now these examples of character development are good, but there's just not nearly enough of it. It's not like their character arcs have come full circle either, there's still so much more that could be done with all of them.

    • @kjtheidiotbloodn
      @kjtheidiotbloodn 3 роки тому

      Todoroki has been developed at least in the manga but i agree with lida ochaco and momo but even those arcs are kinda dumb ochaco doesn't look poor at all its never brought up before or after the event and it makes it look like it was just shoved in and forgotten. Lida just fought stain that's it but heck even then stain,deku and todoroki completely stole the spotlight there. Momo lost one battle and suddenly lost her confidence which is just stupid if anything characters like toru should have losed there confidence she made it to the finale stage of the tournament shouldn't she be thankful mina should be way more sad she fell for the same trick despite watching the battle almost everyone should have lose there confidence if it's this easy to do so almost all these characters have huge problems

    I think MHA's biggest Strength and biggest Weakness is it's setting.
    A world where almost everybody has super powers is cool. The super hero job system, the way society looks down on people with villainous looking quirks and the danger of how stronger each new generation seems to be getting is all interesting.
    On the other hand, the school part of the setting really limits the story a lot. It's not loose enough like Naruto's school or creative enough like what's done in Assassination Classroom. It's plagued by samey training arcs and the side characters get left out frequently.

    Have you gave MHA: Vigilantes a go? I think Koichi is a better protagonist than Deku. The story provides a lot of world building and backstories to some side characters of the main manga like Aizawa and Stain.

    • @Avarn388
      @Avarn388 3 роки тому +2

      SleepGremilin Hard disagree. I like Vigilantes but it leans too much on the MHA world without actually defining its own corner enough and Koichi is fine. Not terrible, but Midoriya I find has a much more consistent character arc going forward. I'll agree about the world-building even if as I said it over utilizes existing characters. For comparison sakes, Railgun and Sinbad No Bouken I find are better spinoffs. They both take place in the same worlds as their main counterparts, Magi and Index, respectively, but defined enough of their own corners through Railgun focusing more on the academy/ science side and Sinbad showcasing Sinbad's rise. Vigilantes from the first few volumes had an identity crisis between focusing on the smaller elements of MHA and then focusing on some very large stakes. Still, I'll give the current arc of Vigilantes credit for going smaller and more personal. But I'm not willing to overlook the serious flaw I mentioned above. If I were rating vigilantes, I'd give it a solid 7-7.5/10. It's pretty good. Also, the art of Vigilantes is really inconsistent.

    The only thing I really disagree on is the underdog part. Deku was already one of the strongest student in his class the moment he learned Full Cowling.
    It makes sense for him to already be stronger than even Endeavor, because he inherited an even stronger version of All Might's quirk, who was by far the strongest pro hero even while heavily injured and weakened.
    I think it'd be cool if a timeskip happens, and a big focal point and obstacle in the series is Deku's handling of being the strongest hero and the pressure of him being pretty much the biggest factor when it comes to saving everyone and preserving peace society.

    I do like this manga. I've been reading it from the day it was first released, and I completely agree with all this criticism... especially the part about the "Class A vs Class B" arcs being filler.
    I would also go as far as to say that the spin-off manga "Vigilantes" has surpassed the main manga, and makes it look bad in comparison, IMO. Vigilantes has maintained the underdog theme that BNH has gradually lost. In Vigilantes, we follow characters who really are weak or powerless, and see them conflict with Endeavor and other top tier characters. The protagonists rely much more on strategy and planning, rather than just unlocking new powers (mostly), and this is more interesting, to me.

    I'm kind of late but, I think the fact that Mirio(Lemillion) feels like he could or should be the main protagonist is one of the reasons why he exists.
    Deku's been doubting his worthiness of his power since the beginning of the series. That's why he cries so much, he KNOWS he is lucky.
    Trying to copy All-Might, his friends and other heroes. He can barely make HIS power his own.
    Suddenly he finds out that All-Might was planning on giving his power to Mirio. Deku has the same mindset of the readers: he doesn't deserve One For All. When Mirio loses his power, Deku doesn't hesitate to give Mirio One For All. He even forgets about using Eri's rewind ability.
    All-Might saw Deku's heart and told him he could become a hero. It's his hero academia after all. And ours as well.

    @BlaZay 3 роки тому +3

    Wow. I stumbled upon this by pure chance, but I'm glad I did. I think you're the first critic of MHA I 100% agree with.
    I really like the lore and how it's fleshed out, most of the secondary characters are really interesting and entertaining, and I don't dislike Deku as a character, but he feels really out of it. Like, you have the hero society that is facing backlash left and right, with even entire towns plotting against them, heroes that question their place, villains that question their goals, a grim future ahead, things moving at lightning speed...
    And then there's Deku over there, doing his own thing. Pretty much everything I said just flies over his head. He's here for the fights, he has some growth, and... That's it. He feels so disconnected from everything that's important. Even now that he's at the center of the current conflict, it just feels it was by pure coincidence. Beating Shigaraki won't solve a single thing, and yet that's all he's here for, essentially. He really feels like a side character in his own story, except he's finally got the rights to be the one to throw the final punch.

  • @MatthewJParker
    @MatthewJParker 3 роки тому +1

    I think one thing that hold back Deku and UA as a whole is the high school setting. If you look at all of the aspects of the series that are the best are when the plot is detached from the school. However as the title of the series says it’s “My Hero Academia” so the school aspects are going to be heavy. The Pro Heroes are free to be proactive the villains are free to be proactive but the students are bound by UA and things have to happen to them or be forced into situations away from UA.
    Like you said this slow down the pacing a lot. Being an MHA fan I enjoy these portions of the story but understand why others find them tedious. I also don’t like the exam arcs and 1A vs 1B expect for a few moments but hopefully the animation will make up for it in season 5.
    I think all the students will improve after the current arc if Horikoshi gives himself more freedom by removing them from school. But I highly doubt that will happen but if he skips to when they’re Pro Heroes I think your enjoyment of the series will improve.
