    I was getting burnt out and getting sick every week. I was trying to push my km by doing more longer runs rather than 1 long and 4 easy runs. I stopped pushing myself so much and feel so much better, and my speed on those hard runs has improved because of it.

    Another alternative that does not get mentioned is is rowing. I have only just started running and I can run non stop at a slow pace. I have done 5 - 10k already at around 7.30 - 7.40 pace per km. I couldn't do that before I started rowing. That and kettlebells too

    I’m coming off an injury that had me take with weeks off running entirely. It’s been a slow build to get back to regular runs, but there is a big disparity from where I was before injury and where I am now. It’s frustrating as I had built by training over years, and that’s probably what I need to focus on, but it’s hard to lose that much over such a short period. Prior to the break I was hitting some all time PR’s, finding it tougher to get motivated at the moment. Thanks for the reminders, I do need to focus more on the process, running easier, and allowing for more time off.

      Try to ask a lot of questions that gets them talking, and if that doesnt slow them down, just ask to back off the pace a little. And remember some people are just gifted, i went on a 10k run with my friend and at the end he said lets run hard this last little bit, I was sprinting and he ran away from me like I was standing still.

    For at least 60 percent of all runners recovery runs are just a term, but not a possibility. The load on your body when running, unless you are at the pointy end of the running community, is just too high. Forget recovery runs, do other things to recover and then run again.

    I'm currently on week 5 of c25k, so I'm really new to running.
    My question is - I run SO. SLOW. It's really ridiculous. If you've seen that slow running video here on YT, that is me all the time. My Runkeeper app clocks me at 3.25mph. On a treadmill at the gym, my speed is a tad faster - easily 3.8 for a comfortable jog. I think that, at this point, I should continue with what I'm doing and worry about getting through the 8 weeks before I think about getting faster, but I'm looking for confirmation. Is this correct, or should I start trying to up the speed now/soon?

    • @flavinho112
      @flavinho112 3 роки тому +1

      I am on Week 7 of C25k and i did the first 6 weeks at a running pace of 7mph on the treadmill but recently switched to 6.5 i think if your body can take it you should go faster untill you realize what your limit is. once you have found your limit its easier to adjust so you can keep going on the longer runs further down the weeks. dont be afraid to get uncomfortable you will be amazed at how much more energy you got left in the tank. my recommendation is try speeding up if you can handle it then maybe that should be your new base speed

    Hi, thank you for this great video. I am just concern about, running efficiently indoors on the treadmill on my pace, but then when go out to run and I look at the data on my watch I always running 10-15% slower pace. Any idea what might me happening? I just want to increase me speed to a average 7-8 Peace constant on a 10k run.

    • @jmr9735
      @jmr9735 3 роки тому +1

      I just wrote something similar about my pacing being different/faster on the treadmill than outside. Maybe this isn't your concern, but for me, outside, I'm always being so careful with the terrain, that it really slows me down. If you add in the weather and the wind, that can be a factor, too.
      Obviously, a treadmill is in a controlled environment. If you get a nice springy one, that helps, too. People say that an incline of 1% is supposed to mimic the outside challenges, but I've found that to be complete bunk.

      Try this: go to a track and run one lap or 400m faster than you normally run, then walk for 30-45 seconds, then run and walk a bit again at the two lap point, and so on. You will likely find that you are faster on overall average pace despite the slower walking portions. If that is not the case, just continue this drill until you are sub-10’ on the mile. If you don’t feel the need to take a break on some lap, just continue running until you do.
