Great footage , those decisions we make , when not thinking straight can impact in a big, way great advice for young hunters. Better to be looking at it than looking for it. Keep the clips coming, love it.
That's a hell of an ordeal Fred 😱 glad you made it out and learned from the experience. Thanks for sharing your story, its a good reminder to always take the right gear and take care 😊
@@nzmeateater hey I seem to remember you had a few issues with doc regarding the drone use a while back? Just wondering if you managed to resolve that as I get the drone up sometimes too. Awesome shots in this vid!
@@TasmanDenize Thanks, Yea, just get a permit for the drone., Iv had a couple of people try n nark me off to doc about drone flying in the bush on my vids, but its no worries if you have a permit for the drone, doc and I happy,, narks not .lol.
I have a butchery just down the pakahi , with plenty of chiller space, can make your snags and salamis too . Next time you drop a deer Down our way, feel free to hit me up.
Thanks for the story. I was wondering what was in the pack. I have heard enough experiences of guys getting caught out in the bush and though I haven't, I have been in situations where I found myself totally not where I thought I was, so I tend to over pack just to be safe. Really appreciate your experience. Keep up the good work.
Great vid, the drone footage just shows how remote it can be for a day hunt. The bush teachers many things, sometimes even common sense. Great work, keep it up.
@nzmeateater yes exactly, then at the same time we all form friends in the wider Hunting Community, sharing, teaching, learning and enjoying. It's actually very cool indeed.
Good to share these stories as we tend to think it happens to everyone else and she'll be right but like you it happened to me on Stewart Island 50yrs ago lost for a couple of nights fortunately though raining and shivering fiercely I had shot a hind her skin helped save me from hypothermia.
Bro awesome footage. I think what you'll find is it's the inexperienced that are asking those questions and they'll either listen to what you have to say or learn the hard way like most of us have. I will always hunt with at least a day bag containing everything you mentioned, something warm to change into, a good wet weather jacket, high energy snacks and brew kit to keep me warm just in case I get caught out and have an accident. For the extra bit of weight, it's totally worth it especially for anyone that may be waiting for you at home. Good korero bro.
Great vid and good chat at the end there! Yeap better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it! Have often been tempted to lighten my gear up, even for day hunts. In the end, no deer is worth an uncomfortable or fatal night out in the bush! I reakon those little emergency bags and a dry base layer is pretty cheap life insurance and doesnt cost much more than a few extra drops of sweat on the hill!
Mean as Fred, the old popped lung is something else,I twisted the nut sack just up past stag flat,a big injury definitely changes the technique in the bush, keep going hard mate and keep the plb close
@nzmeateater climbing up outa the creek on way to wihatua, found the old beanch track later on,I threw my pack up on rocks jumped up and tried to slip up on puku, two days later I couldn't walk, chopper too tauranga surgery then new man, would of been pretty bad without plb
@@jakegollan502 Yea for sure, plbs are a must, I never had one with my incident, not sure if they were around then?? ,Was just lucky my brother was hunting with boss and reminded him to drop in and check if I had any animals.
Cool story have you got anymore storys to tell really gets your imagination going and you make me feel better when i come home with nothing from a hunt
Thanks, yea have a few but bit boring for most, would do better to shoot an animal and try to get it on film aye? I think most people people find that more interesting, thanks for commenting Tim👍
Do you know the story behind the old farmland behind te waiti hut I’d love to know if you have any knowledge on that, and cool video it’s good to see some local hunts.
You have to be pushed to your limit, to realize your boundaries. Been there done that. I don't criticise other people, who have been through it and are still doing it. Easy to do that on a keyboard. Reality TV has a lot to answer to with criticising people's effort from a couch
Thanks
Thanks Evan, I appreciate your help👍

Yea , all this new gear nowdays is really lite too.
Do you know the story behind the old farmland behind te waiti hut I’d love to know if you have any knowledge on that, and cool video it’s good to see some local hunts.
