This history repeats itself all the time, Wade Phillips insane DC, awful HC, Norv Turner genius OC, disaster of a HC... I too believe Arthur Smith will be just fine as HC.
Conner is a Flex who’s going to perform as an RB1 multiple weeks. If he weren’t hurt every year and 29 going into the season, I’d have to take him as a high end RB2/low end RB1 like Rachaad White, Joe Mixon, Kenny Walker. I can sub an RB5 or even waiver scrubs to cover Connor’s yearly 3 week sabbatical, and he’ll still be a great value. I get my RB3 later than most, so it’s rare Conner falls in a range I want to take him, but that’s about my draft philosophy and not Conner’s upside. Conner has an ECR of 69 but his ADP is currently 94. That’s one of those signs that I’ve learned to recognize in 20 years of fantasy football: he’s probably going to be a great value. And isn’t that a welcome change when, if we want great players like Drake London, Marvin Harrison, Jr., Chris Olave, Devon Achane and Derek Henry, we have to grit our teeth and take them at their ceiling?
Arthur Smith a is good coach and I do think the Steelers are going to be fun this year. Maybe just could be, or at the very least, they'll have tons of close games and Tomlin and Smith, because he's a good coach will have them above .500 and in the playoffs...again.
Kyler hasn’t rushed for more than 423 yards in a season since at least 2020. I like Murray but given his recent history of rushing stats I can’t see taking him over Burrow, who has passed for 4500 yards twice when healthy during his short career, and Kyler’s best total the last 3 years was 3787. Obviously Kyler’s dealt with injuries but so has Burrow. It takes projection and a leap of faith for me to take him as high as QB5, so instead I’ll take Burrow or Richardson, who also has a ton of upside and an easy pasing schedule.
I went to Pittsburgh last winter to get some metal for a steel building. Looked like a pretty cool city, I liked how it was basically a bunch of neihhborhoods on huge hills, wasn't what I expected.

The Steelers’ offensive line is really bad, I’m surprised everyone doesn’t talk about it when talking fantasy football and Steelers players. Matt Bitonti’s 2024 offensive line rankings has the Steelers line dead last at #32. But if you disagree, listen to the Steelers, who spent their first, second, and fourth round draft picks on o-line players who they’re relying on to start for them this year. Offensive linemen usually take a while to adapt to the NFL and gel as a unit. Oh yeah, and they play in the toughest division in the NFL. And they’re relying on 35 year old Russell Wilson or Justin Fields as free agent QBs who now play in the toughest division in the NFL. They’re the Steelers, with Mike Tomlin, the man who cannot lose. They’ll probably go through a few cases of duct tape and rub some dirt on it and figure some things out. But man, it ain’t gonna be pretty.
Did Dave say to draft players from teams that we expect to be terrible? Hmm. Well, I’m not in on Brooks or Diontae because there aren’t many good fantasy players coming from offenses that aren’t top 20, and most that are, are high upside players (Breece Hall, Olave, etc). I don’t see any Panthers that can produce in spite of the offense, and I’m not drafting any Patriots either, I don’t care if ‘mondre is “turning heads in camp” or “is in the best shape of his life.”*IF* JBro falls, then sure, I could stash him on IR and hope to get a good ROI come playoffs, but the percentages and the investment just suck and while Brooks may be a top fantasy player soon, there’s no certainty that it happens this season. And, if Diontae falls enough I could take him as WR4 and hope he can have a few splash weeks. The better the player is, the luckier they seem right? There’s a nonzero chance Bryce Young and company figure things out this season. But it’s not a good chance, and I’m not excited about it, so I’m not drafting like it. So, hear me out... Arthur Smith IS a good coach... when restricted to overseeing just the offense. When you add in all of the rest of being the coach "face" of the team, things get bad.
