- David H. Hackworth's time with the Australians in Vietnam was a period marked by close collaboration and mutual respect, as he and his allies faced the relentless challenges of guerrilla warfare. Serving alongside the Australian forces, Hackworth gained a profound appreciation for their disciplined, innovative approach to counter-insurgency operations. Together, they navigated the perilous terrain of Vietnam, which was rife with deadly booby traps set by the Viet Cong. Hackworth and the Australians shared techniques and tactics for detecting and neutralizing these hidden dangers, which included punji stakes, tripwire-triggered explosives, and concealed pits. Hackworth's emphasis on rigorous training and his ability to learn and adapt to these unconventional threats were crucial in minimizing casualties and maintaining operational effectiveness. This cooperation not only enhanced the safety and performance of his troops but also strengthened the bonds between the U.S. and Australian forces, highlighting Hackworth's versatility and leadership in complex combat environments.

This rocks, seen every episode! Thank you!!!!
Thanks for tuning in!
Experience from Borneo and Malaysia helped
Sadly, the reason why we were 'so good with mines' is because we really stupidly built a huge minefield and then left the South Vietnamese Military to patrol/secure it. Surprising absolutely no-one then or since, the ARVN didn't really give a crap and happily let the VC/NVA come in whenever they liked to lift those mines out and 'repurpose' them to deadly effect. A lot of our blokes were killed and wounded from our own mines due to that outstanding piece of tactical idiocy.
Thank you
Thanks for this, I'm enjoying the shit out these !
These videos are excerpts from one of Hackworths books? I have Fighting in the Monsoons but haven’t read it in a while. Can’t remember if he wrote it or was just mentioned
