ArchiCAD Tutorial #66: ARCHICAD Roof Construction Techniques

Recently I've had a number of questions about how and why I model roofs the way I do. Here's a video that explains. As always excuse the mistakes and errors. If I do these videos quickly, I'm able to create more. I'd rather have 10 helpful videos with all the natural errors of sharing that occur when you're sitting next to someone discussing a technique than 1 perfectly edited and scripted video. Actually it's more like 5 helpful videos or 0 perfect ones.

Hi Jared! Thanks for the tips! Really helpful. I would like to know how you put windows on the roof, considering that with this sistem you have two roof slabs one on top of the other. Thanks a lot.

You'd do it the same way as I do windows in walls with a second siding skin (www.shoegnome.com/2014/01/08/archicad-video-complex-profile-siding/). Build the roof out of as many layers of Roofs (roof tool) as you need, then place a Skylight and an empty roof opening. if you are doing a flat roof, you'd place the skylight as an object and just cut holes in all the roof layers.
