R is not the same as R0. Both the R's stand for Replication rate for a particular vial infection but while R can change depending on the levels of immunity and various preventative measures, R0 is always the same for any particular virus or bacterium. R0 is the "starting value" for R. The rate of reproduction (new infections from one infected person) when there is no immunity at all and no protective measures at all. Just the way the virus likes it in fact. For each pathogen, R0 is this always bigger than R. The zero indicates it's the initial value, a shorthand mathematicians often use, but you can imagine it means zero resistance and you won't be wrong.

Totally agree w/Cliff. It's no fault of RI, they can't control all the factors that go into capturing audio (though I imagine John could have been sent a podcast microphone to make the presentation as opposed to him using the toss-away buds you USED to get 5 years ago w/an iPod), let alone the variety of factors related to internet. It's great that you're sharing content, especially in lieu of being able to hold them in person --covid's still bad there too, right?-- , but why not offer the empty room and film/record inhouse & share?

But yet they gave me the vaccine for smallpox in the 90s when I tried to join the military, I didn't make it. Up until then my mom said I was allergic to it I wonder why she would say that? The smallpox vaccine that is. The only thing I was allergic to was to a flower but I can't really remember what type it was all I remember is that it was light pink and very soft and was near my uncle's house and near some water I discovered it and did the usual kid thing and the next day my face was swollen and I couldn't see

Smallpox and covid are not comparable in the slightest. Can guarantee you no one would have any issues with taking a vaccine if covid was as bad as Smallpox. The issue is that for a lot of people covid is so mild that the risk benefit analysis on an individual level is thrown way off.

@@surfingbilly9654 no, the risk/benefit analysis is perfectly fine -- the problem comes in when people shrug off the benefit and amplify the risks. What's more mild than covid without a vaccine? Covid after you've had the vaccine.

When doing important talks or having conversations, people should really not use Automatic echo cancellation and noise suppression or volume stabilizer, as it creates a really irritating effect of clipping words and sentence endings. Leave those "tools" for Twitch gamers/streamers, please.
