Interpretation

Whilst offering the greatest protection against Delta, the third/booster dose of vaccination offers substantial additional protection against the risk of symptomatic COVID-19 for Omicron,
when compared to ≥25 weeks post second vaccine dose.
I'm an anaesthetist working in the private sector in Cape Town. in the last week about 40% of my patients have been positive for Covid. All incidental and all asymptomatic. And most had only been admitted in the last 1 or 2 days - so not hospital acquired. If that reflects the population at large then it's everywhere over here, and will soon be over.

that is a very important point for sure. however, some trends are still captured, as the rise in testing is driven by more symptomatic people etc. but for sure the numbers are not accurate in any way. but perhaps it's enough to get an idea of what's going on.

There is a very pronounced, but kind of inexplicable, fear and panic culture over Omicron. I live in the Netherlands and last weekend the government took the completely unexpected decision to shut the society and the economy down till 14 of January over fear of Omicron. None of their arguments were based on data, only the conveniently vague "we expect a very high number of "cases"" and "we need to do whatever we can to stop Omicron". This is the 2nd year in a row that our holidays are ruined and many small businesses cannot copy (as much of their revenue comes over this period). This is a clear political decision.
The whole world forgotten how it is to have a political and scientific debates about matters that affect the entire SOCIETY. We need to bring the culture of CONVERSATION based on real data back on the table. And thank you for being an island of reason in an ocean of misinformation and fear politics.
Mass psychosis. I've been watching a Dutch psychologist explaining how it's a form of hysteria fed by isolation and a high degree of uncertainty.
The real problem in the Netherlands is that the government has been cutting funds to the health provision over the years to extreme extent and just keep on continuing this insane policy. Therefore there are hardly any hospitalization facilities for a population of 17 million people.
The poor workers in the hospitals will be overworked for the years to come because there is an incredible waiting line by now for patients to be treated. Belgium has 2x the hospital capacity and Germany 4x or 6x. NL just ships off covid patients to Germany to take care of them, which they do for free. The Dutch government has No shame and just continue to govern again for 4 more years exactly like they have done.
Meanwhile they are spreading panic, damaging the economy and even threaten people into getting "booster" shots. If you ask me, they have gone insane.

At that stage we did the first lockdown (with an alcohol ban to boot - learned to brew my own). Here it got so bad that even the courts had to admit that the Government was acting irrationally.
I realised that there was never going to be any kind of inclusive public debate over how to balance the rights of everyone concerned. I think we are fortunate in that our Government has run out of money to do stupid things ...

I'm a 50yr old smoker with no vaccine. I have Omicron. Seriously the nicest cold I've ever had. A runny nose but not bad, a half a dozen sneezes and coughs a day. Soar throat for about an hour one night and that's it.

It's half a century since I walked away from a job in an NHS pathology lab. I was well qualified - not just in laboratory procedures, but in mathematics. Over a year I had become increasingly alarmed at the use by medical professionals of statistical processes they clearly did not understand. At 'test' results that from the start were heavily weighted in favour of the required result.
Today, I see little evidence that anything has changed.

Update: 12/30/21 My brother's wife and two additional children tested positive today. My brother is holding well, he is still coughing, lots of muças, fever keeps coming, but thank God he is still with us. My mother and oldest brother died from Covid this year. Mom was in Indiana, brother lived in Georgia.
My middle brother has Omicron, he lives in New Jersey in the united states. He has cold like symptoms, no fever. His blood pressure spiked. I'm from South Africa and there is very little talk of Omicron, it's hardly making news it's almost as if it's a non issue. People just don't seem to be worried about it and as the video explains few people are being admitted. Hopefully this is the way out of the pandemic

Let's all take a collective deep breath and accept that omicron is GREAT news and probably our best-case scenario. I wouldn't go so far as to suggest covid parties but given the numbers the planet seems to be one despite anything we can do. Everyone has had the chance to make a responsible decision about their personal health and that's all we can do. The virus has showed us just what our moral hubris is worth. This channel continues to be the best source of data with just the right amount of advice. Spot on.

Currently infected with likely omicron as I am in London where it's super prevalent. It's way less intense than delta imo and I believe I had covid in 2019 and that was AWFUL this is nothing like that. I am single jabbed and it is definately unpleasant but I'm relieved too.

I wish you'd address the misuse of medical terminology.
Vaccine: a biological substance that immunizes someone against an antigen.
Breakthrough infection: an infection with an antigen someone was vaccinated against.
Booster shot: an additional dose of a vaccine administered (often decades later) to refresh immunological memory of an antigen.
In the case of THESE vaccines, the antigen is S1-original. The top part of the spike protein of the original COVID variant.
Delta had multiple mutations in its S1. Omicron has a whopping 36 mutations in S1 and the base of the spike (S2).
Every variant that retained S1-original is basically extinct in heavily vaccinated countries.
These shots don't immunize anyone against any currently circulating antigen.
Therefore cases of delta and omicron can't be considered breakthrough infections. Because no vaccinee was immunized against S1-delta or S1-omicron.
And these are not booster shots, because there's no evidence that vaccinees' immunological memories of the S1-original antigen need refreshing. All S1-original variants are effectively extinct. No one's ever going to come into contact with S1-original. No one needs to be "boosted" for S1-original.
They're giving "boosters" to replenish circulating antibodies as they wear out. Delta was 8 times less susceptible to neutralization by vaccine-induced antibodies as the original variant was. I suspect that omicron is several times less susceptible than delta was.
How can these erroneously named "breakthrough cases" even be described as "immune escape" when the vaccines only immunize you against S1-original, and we're now dealing with the completely different S1-delta and S1-omicron? These are completely different antigens that no vaccinee has been immunized against.
Exposing SARS-CoV-2 naive vaccinees to these completely different antigens will NOT reliably kick off an adaptive immune response and antibody production. And even in cases where it does, the antibodies suck. S1 won the arms race. It not only improved its offensive game, it improved its defensive game.
So why are we using these words, that have very specific medical definitions?

Investigative Audit Degrees are not a requirement to present factual information. Nor is specific job experience for that matter. I’m well aware of the origin and the intent of the pandemic. Everyone with an open mind can see that therapeutics were suppressed in favor of the combination of drug companies making a fortune and politicians becoming tyrants from the control of vaccines. Which aren’t of course vaccines at all but gene therapy. (Another therapeutic)
All the information anyone needs is there in the wide open. Most people don’t want to know and when presented with the truth will still deny it.

Apparently, in Japan, there are no mandatory vaccinations or passports and they continue, so far, to do well. They specifically state on their website that there is to be no coercion from any work place and they also have vaccine injury relief available. They encourage without any coercion. Did I hear also that they have been using Ivermectin?
Ivermectin is legal in Japan but I have seen no data to indicate how many people actually take it. It is not a recommended treatment for Covid in Japan so I don't think it is being prescribed. They are over 70% vaccinated and have strict rules on international travel.
Thats because they focus on their patients and not making lots of money from dtugs, vaccines etc. Did you know that their vit b12 levels are classed a lot higher so its treatment straightaway but ib other countries you would be low but as the thresholds are very low doctors wave you off with nothing.

Yes, they authorised Ivermectin a couple of months ago. They've also issued general guidance, not mandates. Treating people like adults. Imagine that.

I think our cases are massively under represented. I know many people who have had symptoms of omicron over the last couple of weeks, and have carried on working through it as you would have with the common cold pre covid. I think it’s run it’s course now and over the next couple of weeks we will have herd immunity 🤞🏽
I’m in Columbus, Ohio, so smack dab in the Midwest in the United States. Conversationally, lots of people have told me in the last few weeks that they’ve had symptoms that match Omicron. This includes my adult daughter and her husband. She felt like she had a nasty head cold, and he had more severe symptoms including a temperature, chills, and a bad headache. However, for both of them, their symptoms only persisted 2 to 3 days, then they started to feel much more normal. Each of them had two jabs last spring but had not gotten around to getting a booster yet. So that was their experience.
The common cold can kill too, people get pneumonia.
Let's hope so, before another variant is invented.

I had those symptoms yesterday , i was like oh oh here we go ,ate some chicken soup and an advil at night , woke up feeling no sniffles or stuffiness no headache or cold chills ,i was about ready to get tested, and maybe get the vax , but that's off the table at least for now .

So nice to have someone (like you) to explain to us the situation in Africa, that the infections are under reported but that hospitalization and deaths are accurately reported. I really liked your likening of breakthrough Omicron exposure to a booster, or at least a boost. Couldn't/wouldn't have made a statement like that for a more serious variant. I work at a hospital 🏥 and when hearing about this new variant started getting worried 😟 because when delta variant hit ER was flooded and icu got super flooded with Covid patients. Thankfully this is good news our icu numbers are super low right now one of the doctors that does his rounds showed me his paper and only had 4 cases. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that by January it stays low. Thank you Doctor Campbell! I can’t stand watching some media outlets can never believe what is true anymore.
